I'm so tired of seeing Kane run back to his CBs from a striker position only for his first touch to basically put the ball halfway between him and the passing player where he has to try extra hard to make sure the opponent doesn't scoop the ball up. Same goes for the fullbacks who feel invisible.

Ok Belgium is way more disappointing than England, I will take most criticism back and put it on them!
Edit: haha Belgium getting booed by their own fans, deserved too!

Shithoused our way to 1st place again just like in qualifiers, lmao

Man Ukraine started to play their way into this tournament, but alas too late to make it out. Your lad Sudakov looks a bloody talented fellow!
It can’t just be me who really doesn’t like aspects of 24 into 16 and how some of the 3rd place sides make it through. Aside from wonkiness like some 3rd place teams progressing ahead of 4th place teams who outperformed them in other groups, you have the additional problem where groups played earlier have less information as to the task at hand than those who play later and know how the 3rd place mini-league is poised.
I know it’s unlike me to incessantly complain, but with the World Cup expansion to 32 IMO you did see a dilution of quality, but at least 32 splits nicely down. And you have the additional bonus of expanding some slots around the globe too, which I think is good for both development of the game and some flavour, even if it’s rare to see those teams really doing much.
Whereas with the Euros you dilute that quality that I think saw it a better spectacle than the World Cup on a match per match basis, while giving it this wonky format

Romania were definitely the best in the group.
World cup usually gives better games. This Euro is just special. Also 3rd place should never ever advance from the groups
|
Yeah this third place advances is meh, also both playoff backets always look like one is WAY easier than the other.

Yeah not a fan of 3rd place advancing either. doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me. I get they don't want to knock out some quality teams from that end up 3rd in a group of death (Netherlands) but at that point just put them into their own easier group and add 2 more groups. Croatia and Netherlands would've gotten their own groups.

No... Not more groups in euros please. We already have more than half of relevant Europe in the tournament... Just different sized groups would solve everything

Also 3rd place should never ever advance from the groups The old 16 team Euros were better quality wise pound-for-pound, half the field could have realistic aspirations to win the whole thing, and much of the rest could aspire to a deep run.
I mean the World Cup has the magic, underdog stories and being genuinely global in its favour of course. But on the other hand a lot more mismatches and wallopings.
Fingers crossed FIFA don’t go ahead with their boneheaded idea to expand it to 48 teams. You’ll get the wonky format I dislike of the current Euro format, but also I think you’ll push the size of the field too far and introduce even more mismatches.
In tonight’s football news, man I bloody love watching Joao Felix play he’s so great to watch. He’s probably the best player I’ve seen in recent years by the eye test who hasn’t quite stepped up to be consistently impactful

They'll never go back and reduce it, not now, not after 2026. But of course, no need to worry about the wonky format for too long. I'm sure we will have 64 teams by 2050 the latest.

Georgia is definitely one of the best teams this euro. They were so unlucky in their games

I mean, is it really the world cup if not absolutely every country participates in it? Skip the qualifiers, everyone can play! I remember with great fondness winning the WC in FIFA98 with Vanuatu.

Insane sides of the bracket with Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, Germany all on one side of the bracket. Meanwhile I don't really see anyone on the other side who I would considered favored against any of the aforementioned teams (Belgium likely the weakest of the bunch but still at least even against anyone on the other side).

I mean, Belgium and France are where they are because they couldn't win their groups. Spain is really the only team to impress so far. Arguably Austria has played better football than 4 of those teams, the Switzerland/Italy matchup is pretty good, and England and Netherlands should still have the ability to go toe to toe with the rest if they have a peak performance. I do agree that the top half is better but if you base yourself on 'name recognition/squad potential' then they have 5 of the top 8 vs 3 of the top 8, if you base yourself on tournament performance so far then it has the top 1 and everybody else is kinda meh.

I am so happy that we will get rid of one if France vs Belgium. Both dont really deserve to be in the knockout stages

Well i guess we learnt that we cannot replace a full team and still be effective in the attack.
Defense wise, 2 mistakes from one of the kids cost us 2 goals. Guess he wont be sold for a huge sum this summer after all xD

I never said I was satisfied, but there's a difference between expressing dissatisfaction and the kind of vitriol that gets levelled at the England team every time they fail to meet expectations. Not just in this tournament, but in every tournament I can remember watching going back to the early 90s. I'm quite tired of it and wanted to vent a little.
