What is an adult. At what point does an organism, or a humanoid... transition form the one to the other?
Adult is just a buzzword to justify the authority needed to carry out their behaviour.
It's a word used to dismiss all hesitation as one moves in accord with their predetermined subjective parameters.
These owners, these custodians and news-anchors and musicians and artists and famous people and restaurant owners..
They don't remember that 20 years ago, the music that played on the telly was the rebellion of one stylized as a cool, fashionable rebellilous adult.
suddenly in the year 2001, Limp-bizkit was playing on M-TV.. then Linken Park.. then some others.
All that music served to help create a bridge, between heavy metal & rock, and converged it with chewing-gum, baseball cap and legitimized crime..
Suddenly all unregenerate behavioural patterns converged and the baseline of rebel-activity was subverted quietly - it was impossible to rebel since all rebel-outlets were dead-end avenues of stupidity.
before we knew it, in every venue, take-away joint and shopping mall, a telescreen plays music resonating with the wits of a 12 year old.
These adults walk into a shopping center, utterly content to have this infantalizing green-slime pumped into their ears. Others believe their conservative reservation - A right only exercised within the peace of their homes - is enough to save them from its affects.
Some adults think the extent of their freedom lies in the toppings chosen on a pizza.. others believe it's whether their vape smells like scented pine-apple or caramel waffle.
Freedom!!
Recall.. that evil villain in the Movie - Incredibles 2.
Does anyone here remember that epic monologue?
The narrative given was something like : people live through a vicarious lifestyle, seeing things through a television, existing via talkshows... etc
The Screen-Slaver the villain was called.
It was there.. you can find and confirm these words online I'm sure
Maybe occasionally there are some men, some females.. some adults who raise a protest here and there...
I wonder
EDIT
(Appended at the end)
This is the monologue of the Screen-Slaver I was talkin' bout:
The Screenslaver interrupts this program for an important announcement. Don't bother watching the rest. Elastigirl doesn't save the day; she only postpones her defeat. And while she postpones her defeat, you eat chips and watch her invert problems that you are too lazy to deal with. Superheroes are part of your brainless desire to replace true experience with simulation. You don't talk, you watch talk shows. You don't play games, you watch game shows. Travel, relationships, risk; every meaningful experience must be packaged and delivered to you to watch at a distance so that you can remain ever-sheltered, ever-passive, ever-ravenous consumers who can't free themselves to rise from their couches, break a sweat, and participate in life. You want superheroes to protect you, and make yourselves ever more powerless in the process. While you tell yourselves you're being "looked after". That your interests are being served and your rights are being upheld. So that the system can keep stealing from you, smiling at you all the while. Go ahead, send your supers to stop me. Grab your snacks, watch your screens, and see what happens. You are no longer in control. I am.
