Hi,
I saw the tier maker ( tiermaker.com )
being used several times in videos across many topics like LoL or chess. So, I thought I give it a try to compare Brood War units.
Of course, it is just my opinion.

Some explanations:
Vulture: This is just what I heard most of the time when I asked for the best unit in the game. And when I first saw mech switch strategies in TvZ with mines all over the map, I thought the Vulture is kind of like a Terran Zergling. Cheap and fast.
Also, I believe Bombastic Starleague once had these player profiles where all players had to answer the question: "What is the best unit in the game?". I believe many voted for the vulture. But I also saw the Defiler, Arbiter and Overlord I believe.
Scout: This is also a famous answer I got many times when asking for the worst unit in Brood War. A friend once told me he read an article about comparing all upgrades in Brood War. He told me the upgrade to extend the vision of the Scout was ranked last. A quote from the StarCraft manual:
"Apial Sensors. Located in the nose section of the Protoss Scout, these special sensors provide longer sight range"
Priceless 
Muta: The excessive use of stacked Mutas plus the option to turn them into either Guardians or Devourer (which suck^^) leaves no doubt in my mind.
The rest of the ranking was pure guessing. What are your thoughts? How would your unit ranking look like?

I've played StarCraft since 2002. I've played StarCraft on the ladder near 3.000 hours. I have 49% winrate. I usually take C rank every season.
Of course, I play Terran and I can't win any player who play Zerg. The photo is what I see, it's so clearly about me.

To be honest it's almost impossible to look at any unit individually. Yes, there are a few exceptions. But, for the most part, it's about the interactions between units/races. A fair ranking would have like 10+ units at S rank, 20 units at A rank, and like 5 at B or lower. Just about every unit is good in the appropriate situation. Seems like just an excuse for people to list things they lose to.
