Should be a 3-1 win for Reynor. aligulac is not the be all end all, especially in the mostly split tournament system we have, I agree Reynor will probably win but Trap assuredly has a good shot, historically Reynor struggles against good Koreans.

I never said Aligulac is a crystal ball. Historically Reynor also wasn't in the same shape as he is right now, and historically he hadn't had that many chances to battle Koreans. One can easily chalk those losses to statistical noise, that is, outlier occurrences. One may also argue that since he now has much more experience against tippy top non-zergs, he should be much more prepared than before against them.

The idea that Trap isn't currently a top 20 player in the world is absolutely silly.

Trap's rating has fallen quite hard because he's recently lost a lot of games, some of them against low-rated Koreans, ever since his big 4-1 win against Maru. Even before GSL S3, he wasn't doing too hot. I don't doubt much that he'll bounce back somewhat, but until he does, I have no reason to bet in his favor.

It's a fact. Aligulac ratings are a combination of all 3 matchups and every Protoss is bad at PvP (relative to the top TvTers and ZvZers) which lowers their overall ratings. It's why the list is always dominated by T/Z even when Protoss is doing very well.

Trap has been below the top10 for all of this year and last year also, while Classic and Stats have consistently kept their top10 status. I'll give you this, however: Trap's offline performance somehow has been much better than his online performances. However, it's not such a big discrepancy that I would say he is favored against Reynor, whose ZvP is almost 2900. I'll change it to Reynor 3-2, however, upon just now seeing this discrepancy.

I've been playing / watching Starcraft for 20 years now and that has always been the case for me, even in the most exciting of metas. ZvZ nowadays is much better than in the past (and oh so much better than in BW), but it's still the same thing over and over. I take ZvZ over ZvP with this meta any day of the week right now

People want the unexpected, zvz all the way through would go against that quite heavily.

I favor Maru against him, but not against Rogue. I think it’ll be a rogue vs Serral finals i) Because TvZ is hard as hell at the moment, TY got 4-0ed by Dark ffs. ii) Dark 3-1ed Maru in a recent encounter (albeit Maru beat him 1-0 in the online team league even more recently) iii) Dark has the best ZvT in the world at the moment But there are some hopes: i) Maru is the best TvZ (and terran) in the world ii) Dark is a choker But overall it's kinda normal to be pessimistic about Maru's chances given all this
