Wow, if east coast suffers then its hell for the others. Finals starts 03:30 am in my time. It would be cool if all started 3 hours earlier, even with 1 day show.

That being said I do hope we don't have a ZvZvZvZ semis because the other match ups are fun too. Hoping Classic makes the finals! Yes yes! Zvz is amazing! A matchup that's superior to every other BW and SC2 matchups! (Please Blizzard! I swear we like this garbage, please keep WCS and GSL going.) Yeah, I also enjoy watching ZvZ quite a bit. The only matchup, that is quite hard to witness atm is probably PvZ, when it s non stop Nydus. But appart from that I m gladly watching every game, they throw at me

I would say I slept enough, I should be able to watch till at least one semi; and the whole thing if it’s Maru. Too much hype tho it’s gonna be a long waiting

What needs to be sacrificed to prevent an all ZvZ semis?

Better question yet: why do organizers insist on going with the single elimination format? People want to see a greater variety of race and player MUs, and more games played. Yet, here we are 2 decades later still using this lame format that is so luck-based and brief. double-elim has always the controversy if the player from the winner bracket should get a map advantage or not.

Hint: it has to do with Blizzcon being a weekend event that is not primarily a Starcraft 2 tournament While the amount of time available is definitely a factor, ending with a single elim. top8 is pretty typical even when time isn't a problem. Most people do like having things culminate in a straightforwards finals since it's more 'exciting', so the organizers are giving them what they want. Sure having the players play a bunch rounds of Swiss (to name just one example) might be less random, but you end up with players unceremoniously winning with rounds to go, games that viewers don't care about etc.
Ah, the mythical "most people" the ultimate argument for any dumb corporate decision. It's the same bunch of hypothetical beings as has been used for years to argue for any randomly nonsensical choice around the game - and in fact around almost anything on the market nowadays. It's mostly a smoke screen for the cheapest solution though.

Is here a "Blizzcon 2019" Thread? I like to know when it starts.

This is it, it starts 7 hours from now on. It's 20h CET (first quarterfinal) so check your timezone.

I like to know/see the announcements/trailers of any new games.

Im so ready for soo to eliminate serral

Darn, I didn't realize that it was a single day event. Will they start games early if previous games finish early?
The finals start very late from a European pov, but with a rolling schedule and a tournament full of zergs there is still some hope.

lol starts in under 6 hours. I've been up watching the KSL. Guess I'm missing this one. I'll watch the vods later.

Wow I thought this was going to be tomorrow. Ah well, excited to watch Serral win the back to back! (Starcraft is a tough game and this post may not age well)

Setting up an arena and paying a bunch of staff is way more expensive than flying a couple of people from Seoul to California. (plus the fact that they had the preliminary in Korea probably saved them money since they already had a studio and staff on place.) If they give Starcraft another day then they probably need to find another room for something else that is going on there on the weekend, or cancel something. They already have an entire separate Arena for Overwatch so I assume the convention center is pretty packed.
I guess they could have done another weekend in Seoul than do round of 4 at Blizzcon.

(e.g. Elazer came dangerously close to a 1st prize in a tournament where he shouldn't have even been in the Ro4). Viewers are much more likely to get the player MUs they'd been hoping for.

The group stage took place before Blizzcon. Can't they simply move it back another week? I wouldn't mind the entire Blizzcon SC2 event being a round robin of just the top4 remaining players.
