Not in the losing g5 of Serral vs Reynor tho, Serral was attacking and Reynor defending for a long time. Dark did it a bit differently than Serral and showed you could transition into something else than ultra, I wonder if he would have played that way if Serral didn't do this build on this map?

I now watched the finals series entirely and wow what a stomp, it's great to see zergs taste their own medicine and lose to such strategies for once (especially the nydus games)

Overall it's still quite a sad BlizzCon because of the balance but at least some ZvZ were fun. Hopefully blizzard does a better job for next time (at least we got a 2020 WCS season though!)

I'm quite sad Serral lost to Reynor, but he'll do better next times for sure.

No matter who was the greatest of the year, Dark is most certainly the worthy winner of the global finals. In the Ro16 he had some struggle against well prepared showtime and soO, but still got out first place, then stomping Maru and Classic, both the best vZ players of their respective race, then proceeding to stomp Reynor hard.

Having won 3 premier tournaments and placing top 4 in 3 more, this was an increadible feat.

And yes Serral is maybe the best player on paper, but he threw, so Dark is the deserved champ, the killer. I'm happy for him.

Agreed. I think most people would agree that the state of balance sort of skewed things especially toward the end of the year, but Dark almost certainly reached some of the highest peaks throughout the year and showed dominant form when it counted the most.

Serral still feels to me like he has the best mechanics and most potential, but his decision-making and game sense has always been what set him apart for me, and those definitely weren't top tier against Reynor. He was pretty clearly devastated, and it's hard not to feel a bit bad for him, though I guess he's only human and I feel confident he'll come back more motivated and stronger next year.

dark zvp is absolutely unwatchable. if you think that is starcraft then you have a screw loose
