I will surely be able to watch Serral's and maybe Reynor's ro8 matches, then I have to leave but I will most likely be in time to watch semifinals; I wouldn't be able to sleep anyway while BlizzCon is being played!

1/ He was the best player in 2016 but reapers were broken so Byun stole his Blizzcon title. 2/ His ZvT is by far the best now and yet Terran is the dead race so no Terran for him to beat. 3/ His ZvZ is worst and Zerg is broken so every tournaments are overwhelmed by Zergs.

At least he got a Terran in the first round.

Blizzard doesn't have as much luxury to splurge for a named act this year, considering the hole they have to dig themselves out of tomorrow.

People want to see a greater variety of race and player MUs, and more games played. Yet, here we are 2 decades later still using this lame format that is so luck-based and brief.

Maybe some lower level ZvZs are still roach headbutt, but that's not what it's like at the top level anymore. That being said I do hope we don't have a ZvZvZvZ semis because the other match ups are fun too. Hoping Classic makes the finals! Yes yes! Zvz is amazing! A matchup that's superior to every other BW and SC2 matchups! (Please Blizzard! I swear we like this garbage, please keep WCS and GSL going.)

Hint: it has to do with Blizzcon being a weekend event that is not primarily a Starcraft 2 tournament

Most people do like having things culminate in a straightforwards finals since it's more 'exciting', so the organizers are giving them what they want. Sure having the players play a bunch rounds of Swiss (to name just one example) might be less random, but you end up with players unceremoniously winning with rounds to go, games that viewers don't care about etc.
