It should no longer be used in premiere tournaments at the very least, as much as I hate to use the phrase the map is very "stale" and doesn't do much to improve the current meta at the top level.

people are not ready to let go of it on ladder though and they probably never will, it serves its purpose there for being a safe map to learn to play the game.

Yeah, it has no place in tournaments anymore. It was replaced by Circuit Breakers in 2010 just how Fighting Spirit replaced Python in 2008. We need a new standard map.

Agreed, I'm in favour of removing it from tournies, but keeping some very standard maps like it in the ladder pool is good.

I think it's important to keep (along with FS) as a relatively "vanilla" map, the competitive standard so to speak. It is precisely because the approaches to the map are so well-known and established that I believe it is one of the best maps to measure at least certain aspects of "skill."

I'm honestly more curious what the pros think about it. I imagine most are in favor of keeping it because of its longevity and stability, but that's just a guess.

pro tour no need to keep it, but on ladder definitely yes.
It is pretty balanced and less boring than CB. Everyone knows the map well.

I think it makes sense to keep it, what I love about SC most is that you have a variety of maps: some new, meta changing and challening maps, and some old, well analyzed and practiced maps. These two types allow players to battle on different grounds: creativity & flexibility vs preparation & execution. Having 2-3 standard and 2-3 non standard maps makes exactly that. Keep FS!
