If the theft of $1K occurred, it would have occurred around this time. Afterwards, an older Korean woman who goes by the handle Bbo on Afreeca decided to become something like Cadenzie's manager. Dunno what the details of the financial arrangements were, but she claimed to have paid for the deposit on Cadenzie's new rental closer to Seoul, IIRC, among other things. Cadenzie referred to this woman as her "mommy" at times. The $1K theft has not come up before as far as I know. No one claimed back then that the translator ran away with her money. It is completely possible that this did not come up in Korean conversations because she did not (and probably still does not) possess the sufficient level of Korean language skills to communicate such things well. Anyhow, this whole things sounds weird. From the background information, it seems somewhat unlikely that a well-off StarCraft fan hired by Britney would steal money from Cadenzie. On the other hand, I think it is a safe bet that Britney did not have anyone validate this guy's resume. So he could just have been running a long con. It's also strange that we haven't heard about this theft before. It's been a long time since the translator cut ties with Cadenzie. One wonders if there is another explanation that simply got lost in multiple layers of translation. At any rate, I feel bad for the organizers. I hope they think twice in the future before committing their time and money to such a thankless job.

That's why I think community should appreciate people like you, thumbs up to you, Rus_Brain! There will always be people who hate something, try to scam someone and such, that's life. IMO we shouldn't give them more attention since they don't deserve it, we should talk more about people who are actually doing good stuff.
