Rumors reached me, that there is an appearance fee to attend the tournament. Whilst I don't know who and why spoiled the air, it is my duty to ask players to read again very carefully: "Free participation, no skill cap. 21+ YO". If anything will change, this thread will be properly endorsed. All other sources should be dropped.
Hype! Great news. Thanks for supporting the scene. LANs were awesome so far.
I think at some point I might be able to cast in English live from events like these. I have good enough English but my game knowledge is poor especially for non-zerg match-ups (TvT, TvP, PvP). Also don't have a caster microphone yet, but maybe I'll buy one.
Also please do something about the obs zone. Since it's the same place the sound was too quiet and the projector is crap there. Could not even see a mini map. If you're done playing the only viable option is to stand behind the players or go home and watch stream. If it's possible ofc. =)

You have a rare possibility to secure your place behind the player's back But we will try to arrange something.
By the way if you're new to the game it's also fine. You still have a chance for some close games, or to even advance a bit further. There could be some low to average players, so it depends on how lucky you are. =)
Oh, just a minor thing before I forget. Since many foreigners are coming please make the entrance to this place easier. Like put some arrows or way-finders on the walls, and make sure somebody is at the gate entrance all the time. Last time it was difficult. You know what I mean. Thanks! <3
mappack of the ASL6 maps? so everybody has the correct version to practice with. and if ASL somehow updates these maps before the tournament, i guess we will always use the newest map version.
I hope i can come as well! I won't be able to bring a computer tho, so unless you can rent one at the lan, I'll just be watching. If I had a computer I could also cast games!
Now how the hell do i get a fricking visa? Do I really need one for 3 days?? >_<;

Why do you ever need to bring your own computer? Russians are not so barbaric, there should be plenty of computers to play.

Depens on your country I guess. In Germany you can order one online, you also need foreign health insurance, a photograph, a voucher the hotel supplies you with, and some form of guarantee that you have a job, a bank account or something similar. It usually takes 14 days to get that stuff back, or costs nearly double the amount of money if you want it within three days.
What we found out "the hard way": make sure your visa covers the entirety of your stay, a few minutes seem to matter. Last time we had to reschedule our flight, because we were landing in Moscow at 23:38 (31st Aug) only to take another flight to SPB, where we'd first leave the airport at 1:45 (1st Sept.), while our visa only started on 1st September. Yeah, that wasn't a smart move on our part.

That's the only thing I like about Russia atm. :D But seriously if it's all happening because of the certain people who stand behind it. They are keeping this seemingly dead game (from the sponsors' and general public's perspective) alive and well. Big cheers to Rus_brain, KrastyKrabs and Pomi! Hyped for the tournament!
32-player double-elim bracket will have 8 rounds in loser bracket that must be played one after other. With all the delays it will be no less than 9-10 hours.

And there will be even more players probably.
Good point, agree. Don’t want to stay there until metro closes to see the finals.

what the, not cool. If there an agreement for how much upfront, and he agreed, he shouldn't be turning around and saying I want more now. What's Piano's deal?
The situation is kind of complicated. From what I heard from Cadenzie on the FBW discord, Eddy Kim, the Korean English translator, was the go-between for the tourney organizers and the Korean players. He told the Korean players they'd be receiving 2k dollars just for going, which was a lie. I'm assuming this is why Larva dropped out. Then other players dropped out too because their friends weren't going, including Cadenzie due to visa issues. Also, Eddy Kim stole 1k dollars from Cadenzie before disappearing.
Who's this Eddy Kim character? Why not just ask Cadenzie if she can help bridge the barrier if she's living and interacting with them? After all, she's trust-able compared to some shady guy. This just sounds terrible all around for both sides now ><
Eddy Kim was hired by Britney to be the translator for that team tourney that Afreeca hosted a while back. He was supposedly hired because he was a graduate of Yeonsei, one of Korea's top universities, and a skilled BW player. After the tourney ended, he claimed to have convinced Cadenzie to rent a place near Busan so that he could help her with translation free of charge. He also claimed to have paid for many of Cadenzie's expenses out of his own pocket. He also took some (small) donations from Cadenzie's fans on his own stream. He soon quit claiming that he no longer to afford to take the losses and had to take a job.
If the theft of $1K occurred, it would have occurred around this time.
Afterwards, an older Korean woman who goes by the handle Bbo on Afreeca decided to become something like Cadenzie's manager. Dunno what the details of the financial arrangements were, but she claimed to have paid for the deposit on Cadenzie's new rental closer to Seoul, IIRC, among other things. Cadenzie referred to this woman as her "mommy" at times.
The $1K theft has not come up before as far as I know. No one claimed back then that the translator ran away with her money. It is completely possible that this did not come up in Korean conversations because she did not (and probably still does not) possess the sufficient level of Korean language skills to communicate such things well.
Anyhow, this whole things sounds weird. From the background information, it seems somewhat unlikely that a well-off StarCraft fan hired by Britney would steal money from Cadenzie. On the other hand, I think it is a safe bet that Britney did not have anyone validate this guy's resume. So he could just have been running a long con. It's also strange that we haven't heard about this theft before. It's been a long time since the translator cut ties with Cadenzie. One wonders if there is another explanation that simply got lost in multiple layers of translation.
At any rate, I feel bad for the organizers. I hope they think twice in the future before committing their time and money to such a thankless job.

What is your suggestion?
My suggestion is to not work with people who don't appreciate your hard work. I'm sorry. I know it isn't very helpful advice. It's very hard to get these guys to even show up for tournaments in Korea. Recent example: Jaehoon.
HAha this all sounds like some shitty Jackie chan scene from rush hour 3... this is supposed to be in Moscow not Manila right guys I mean come on for ffs... haha but the prize money should be just like secure in escrow to be paid out to the winners. This is a really nicely set up tour but no way guys from Korea would be getting free 2k and free hotel or whatever lol? Also not to get personal but what’s cadenzies backstory why she’s so famous here/ moved to Korea from scotland to Be a pro gamer? So random in 2018 can’t be trusting black hole Asian men in foreign countries

I am afraid I would have been out of the business with this mindset But thank you for the advice.
That's why I think community should appreciate people like you, thumbs up to you, Rus_Brain!
There will always be people who hate something, try to scam someone and such, that's life. IMO we shouldn't give them more attention since they don't deserve it, we should talk more about people who are actually doing good stuff.

You think it's a coincidence u don't see korean protoss players in foreign tournaments? My opinion is that protoss is the most fragile race to die from a theoretically worse player. Protoss is also the race that will have most issues in bad latency games, that's why we see terrans and zergs mostly at tournaments like Have at You or Filthy Cup.
What Im saying is, if I was a Korean protoss pro, I wouldn't participate in foreign tournaments either.
Well that was slightly off-top, anyway, gogo Lancer! Win another Moscow tournament :D
I knew shine would make the final he’s just way to skilled . Miso didn’t expect him due to poor results in Korean tours like asl/Ksl but perhaps this is proof of the foreigner /Korea skill gap. Would be like NFL player vs a college fb player. Thought people like eonzerg and lancerx would put up more of a fight but hey that’s okay. Sharp is good but a tier below flash obviously.
Was a really nice tournament. Loved all the pics that got shared on the Telegram group. Coverage was also a lot better than for the previous Russian events and I am happy Sharp went since he is my favorite player
This was the best LAN tournament in my life. It was trully amazing to talk to progamers, to watch them playing from behind, unforgetable emotions. Inspired to see foreigners playing BW in Moscow, Eon, Cryoc, Eriador, Hirmu AND Agge - thanks for coming, you are awesome, so cool to feel that despite we are from different countries we all love BW. Big thanks to everybody who arrived, and special thx ofcourse to Rus_Brain who put in a lot in it. And ofcourse Rapid is one of the most positive guys i've ever met. Everyone who talk shit about his bad game/strategies understanding - you simply do not understand the point of commentatroing, keep doing great job, Rapid! <3 you all
even some videos, lol @ the guy who asks shine "do you remember this game where you blah blah" come on man its a drink up, just yell STARCRAFTTTT and down the glass :D
The best event ever. Once in a lifetime experience for sure! Thanks to everyone who took part in it. People who organized, especially Rus_Brain, people who came to play, people who came to watch and people who didn’t make it there but watched the stream at home.
Rapid has improved his skills really well by now. Especially in emotions part when he exactly describes dynamic moments. I like it more than two years ago
Everybody should watch Shine vs Eon starting at 02:09 https://www.twitch.tv/videos/334439586. Hope eventually it gets cut and uploaded to youtube. Sick game.
Was amazing!! Thank you very much for event Brain!! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming it was really easy being there Big thanks to Pavel for showing us around
Finally recovered from the weekend, slept for 16 hours when I got back to sweden yesterday.
First of all, HUGE f'ing thanks to the awesome organizers of this event. You guys did an amazing job during the whole day and it was a blast participating in this event. I'm so happy that i decided to get that express visa and to get to Moscow.
Second, love, so much love! Really an incredible feeling meeting ALL of you at the event. Meeting IRL is so important for the bw scene, especially for us players outside of korea. It creates such strong bonds between us players even if we represent different teams on battle.net. And I really hope there will be more events in the future so I can keep attending. <3
Thirdly, as promised I brought this one home, so now I can experience what I missed out on sunday night when having to be sober!
