With SSL Premier drawing to a close, Classic and Dark met in the rematch of the SSL finals from Season 2 in 2016. Dark won that encounter 4-3 which, when combined with his 23-12 record against his old teammate and his current form, made him the favorite on paper to win this semi-final.
Game one got off to a bad start for Dark as his burrowed roach pressure fell flat. He took a very late third, but repelled Classic's oracle counterattack. Dark added infestors, swarmhosts and eventually hydralisks to his army in an effort to recover. When it came time to fight, Dark crushed Classic's immortal/archon army with the help of slow banelings and queens to go up 1-0.
Abyssal Reef was the site of a 40 minute skytoss game. Classic lost the first major engagement to corruptors, brood lords and infestors. Dark remaxed, but was still bleeding off bases to zealots. Classic made tempests and void rays out of seven stargates, eventually backing Dark into a corner. Dark fought valiantly, but it was to no avail as Classic evened the series.
Classic took a quick game on Ascension to Aiur with a glaives attack on Dark's third to go ahead 2-1. Dark had a high queen count, but only a scattering of zerglings and was easily overwhelmed.
Classic took a gold base on Odyssey before transitioning into the infamous colossus drop. He attacked Dark's main with the spindly limbed construct and zealots, but lost 22 workers to baneling drops while microing the offensive. Another baneling drop reduced him to 11 workers and, when his attack was finally pushed back by ling/bane/queen, he left the game and conceded the lead.
In the swing game, both players went toe to toe in aggression. Classic lost his third base to a flood of zerglings, but sniped Dark’s third with oracles in the first significant action of the game. Classic attacked Dark’s gold base with void rays, oracles and stalkers and, while he won the initial fight, Dark’s zerglings tipped the scale in his favor. He swarmed Classic’s gold base, added in ultralisks and took the game to claim his third win.
Dark's burrowed roach opening bore no fruit on Frost as Classic macroed up to a third base while teching into charge and immortals. But Dark had other plans. He stopped at 32 drones and went for a ravager, zergling attack that destroyed Classic's natural and third. Down to one base, Classic hung around, but the writing was on the wall. He soon conceded, sending Dark to the finals.
The win returns Dark to the finals where he will meet Stats in a rematch of the the 2016 SSL Season 1 finals, a match which Dark won due in large part to baneling drops and the ling/baneling play into brood lords that became the norm in LotV ZvP.

I like how Dark is starting to use mass Infestors against Skytoss. He just needed to keep on securing bases with static D against ling runbys. And probably a bit more Vipers to abduct into Neural range.

on Ascension to Aiur wasnt the "the infamous archon drop", it was colossus drop.

Yes, he looks very good with a wide variety of builds, not just one "op" build/unit composition, a joy to watch.
I don't think he's able to take out innovation in the finals but he's still favourite in my heart.

SSL finals is Stats vs Dark.

Ops, I feel a bit stupid, oh well it won't be easy vs Stats either, lets just say :D

He's taken out two Protoss so far, why not one more.
2016 SSL: Dark beat Myungsik, Classic, then Stats on his way to winning SSL. 2017 SSL: Dark beat Dear, Classic, and .....

Also:
2016 SSL: Winner gets 4000 WCS points and ~$35k in winnings 2017 SSL: Winner gets 1500 WCS points and ~$14k in winnings

But if Dark wanted a shot at 4000 WCS points and ~$35k he should've beaten INnoVation in Game 7.
Easier said than done, I know

Should be an epic finals.

(meaning no ssl) I mean... IIRC, we didnt know SSL would exist in 2017 for a long time
(I dont follow it as closely anymore, so in case im wrong, sorry)
Anyway, GO GO DARK

Go, Dark , first champion in 2017
