One minor comment though: it seems that it's alright to use any form of insulting language w.r.t. Trump (e.g. buffoon, clown, etc.), calling anyone else the same seems to be actionable. I think it would be ok to allow neither or both but in either case I see an inconsistency.

As far as I've seen I'm more than ok to just report, see a post get actioned or not, and move on, rather than complain how the moderation is incompetent. While there are problems it's actually going ok today. One minor comment though: it seems that it's alright to use any form of insulting language w.r.t. As a general rule, insulting a public figure is fair game, insulting a tl poster you're participating in a discussion with isn't.

Trump (e.g. buffoon, clown, etc.), calling anyone else the same seems to be actionable. I think it would be ok to allow neither or both but in either case I see an inconsistency. The problem is that Trump is a buffoon and a clown, more so than any other prominent politician. I don't think we've aggressively moderated insults towards other politicians though? And while maybe calling Hillary a clown or buffoon, specifically, might not be okay, those insults also just don't fit her at all? However say, 'completely out of touch' and 'evil' are both terms that I think are pretty much equally insulting, but that I'm fairly certain have been permitted wrt to her. I think there's a huge difference between insulting politicians themselves and insulting supporters of said politicians, and then there's a further difference between insulting 'generic trump supporters' and people who actually post on our forums. The latter I certainly want to keep to a minimum, I prefer if we manage not to insult generic supporters as well because there's obvious overlap, but I think insulting politicians has to be allowed. Especially as long as Trump is president, because he's just that terrible. Half joking, but only half, as I don't really consider it ideal from a discourse perspective, but I also don't think I'd be able to talk about him without throwing in some negative adjectives, and I can't advocate holding other posters to a standard I don't want to hold myself to.

All mods use their own judgement and nothing one says is an automatic get out of jail free card with another, what I'm saying is just my understanding of broad policy as a mod. Also, in case it comes up, insulting figures within the progaming community is less cool, even if they're kinda public figures and even if they don't post on tl.

Asking about these three because they're not as vulgar as "nigger" but they're certainly more than just "buffoon".

There are literally dozens of liberal shitposts for every one of mine. Almost none of them get actioned (and I'm too nice to report every one of them; I'm guessing the other conservative posters are, too). If you mods aren't going to do your job and action shitposts like hunts, then at least have the courtesy to leave me alone. Hey, this discussion seemed relevant to this thread. micronesia seems to think that this is particularly inflammatory on xDaunt's part, although to me it looked like pretty typical xDaunt posting: xDaunt says a controversial thing, some liberal poster goes aggro challenging him on it, and then xDaunt goes full snark telling them they're too dumb/intellectually dishonest to understand what he said and they should go read it again. Since people are talking about it I figured I'd bring it up here, although to be clear, if the mods didn't think xDaunt warranted moderation in the past I don't think anything special or new happened here. I do hate when people get snarky and defensive, and as a result refuse to discuss the actual issue or clarify the thing they said that they insist is being misinterpreted, but those problems are hardly limited to xDaunt.
