With only five matches remaining in the GSL Season 2 Round of 32, ByuN, herO, MajOr and Armani battled it out to decide who the final two players to advance to the next stage will be.
herO brought a swift end to game one as his canceled stargate turned into an adept timing with glaives. MajOr put up more resistance in game two with successful mine drops, but herO shaded in along with phoenixes for the 2-0 sweep.
The second series was another 2-0. ByuN took game one with a three rax reaper build. He opted for the 16 marine stimpack timing on Daybreak which Armani held initially. ByuN repeatedly traded well, however, culminating in a lethal push outside of Armani’s natural which broke the Zerg.
herO opted for pylon rushes coupled with oracles in all three games. The first earned him the win, but ByuN held the next two better. Games two and three went ByuN's way as he weathered herO's pressure. He ended up on top in a pair of base trades to escape the group in first place.
MajOr took game one after a hellion run by killed 19 of Armani’s drones. MajOr went for mech in a long game two. The players teched switch multiple times, but MajOr kept getting the better end of transitions. The game was all but decided when he wiped out Armani’s brood lords and corrupters with vikings. Armani stuck around, but he never had the income to rebuild a tier three army and was eliminated.
MajOr got another shot at herO in the final match of the day. He started with a proxy mine drop which failed to do significant damage. His follow up tank push was shut down, giving herO a 1-0 lead. Game two almost turned into a base trade, but both players held. herO had higher supply and was on two bases versus one, however, and eventually won the battle of attrition.
With his victory, herO rounds out the Round of 16 and will join ByuN in group nominations.

Since I'm the guy who does the recaps, I'll give you an insider tip. Referring to MajOr by a different name means I have to learn and remember how to capitalize it. No joke is worth that much effort.

I mean, you already have players like INnoVation and MyuNgSiK. If MajOr got far enough in a tournament like GSL it might be worth remembering a few of his IDs instead of just the one.

Whether or not you're being facetious, race representation as a meaningful statistic in modern Korean Starcraft is a myth. If you look at the quality of players that advanced to the Round of 16 vs didn't advance, the better players (simply put favorites) won out almost every time (the exceptions being sOs, Solar and Patience). The fact that the players still alive in the tournament are divided 5/6/5 isn't evidence of balance, rather a product of the fact that there are only 20ish players good enough to make the Round of 16 and they happen to be split fairly evenly (sometimes coincidence is both convenient and true). This isn't 2014 where Maru was the only Terran in Korea that could consistently get results against a deeper pool of competitive Zergs and Protoss. If it was that way in the present day, ByuN, TY, Maru and Inno would all advance out of the relatively weak Round of 32 despite the racial disadvantage.
As for representation in the Round of 32, that's an even bigger fallacy. The talent pool is so shallow in Korea that the best 32 players are going to qualify almost 100% of the time for no reason other than they are more talented than the middling or even relatively awful players in the qualifiers like JYP, Choya, SortOf, Alicia and TOP. Race has nothing to do with that.

Sad but true
On the bright side, BW scene is growing back. Maybe one day, the BW and SC2 can reunite into one big scene in Korea. God, I love both games, why can't they live happily ever after? Stronger together yo!
(I know, the possibility of that happening is like North Korea and South Korea reuniting - but it's worth a shot.)

It's hard for me to admit this but it is so true what you said. There is essentially no new blood in KR scene. Historically-good players continue to do well but kind of expected. These days even some average players manage to get in Code S but eventually get flushed out as they have no chance in the first place against the top players.
I miss the old days when there are more global events and Korean players can compete anywhere.

Yep basically. The current generation is the last generation, and once TY, INnoVation, Stats, Dark, etc join the army (just a few more years now) I fully expect the Korean SC2 scene to die for real.
They were the best players when the KeSPA teams disbanded, and the competitive hierarchy effectively "froze" after that. No more new blood = no future superstars = no future, period. The sun hasn't completely vanished yet, but twilight is definitely here.

Haha nice one
Thanks, it just spontaneously appeared in my head and had to be written down.

Hey the new generation around Nightmare and DRGling is already waiting to take the place of the old stars
Starcraft 2 and Brood War are completely distinct issues. Bisu vs sSak was at almost 100,000 viewers, and only 5.5k of them were foreign. BW has insane levels of support within Korea, SC2 doesn't.
