I'm sure it would be easier to run if you actually owned the game. :-D

i have the DVD iso version though :S

What kind of DirectX error are you encountering?
Also editing files then re-burning the CD would sure tamper with its "signature" hence the "insert cd/dvd" error.

grr
i borrowed the cd version off my friend and it still gives me this error shit

Find the autorun.exe within the iso and run in compatability mode windows 2000 to get past the directx error- that is if you have 9.0c installed (or if you have vista you probably have directx 10)
For the cd/dvd problem search for a nocd crack they are not hard to find

I enjoyed the game enough to be persistent in helping, the only other solution i found offered was this (straight copy paste off thepiratebay):
You need to do the following:1. After you mount the game image, copy all the files to you hard drive in one folder for example NFSMW.2. Open the \NFSMW\Autorun folder..and then open the file autorun.cfg with Notepad.3. Look for the parameter DirectXVersion=9.0c and change the 9.0c to 0 and save the file.4. Run the Setup from your hard drive folder and ENJOY!!

ah
finally i figured out a solution
extract the compressed data zip folders into a folder, then grab a speed.exe no-cd from a website and chuck it into that folder.
voila.
ez.
