Sports Seoul is reporting that according to industry sources, Blizzard is aiming to release an updated version of the original StarCraft around May-June of this year.
Called "StarCraft: Remastered," the remake is set to feature high-resolution graphics, as well as an updated Battle.net service. Gameplay would not be changed from the original StarCraft: Brood War.
According to Sports Seoul, Blizzard secretly revealed details on SC: Remastered to industry insiders at BlizzCon 2016, focusing on esports broadcasters and sponsors.
Blizzard is aiming to make the official announcement in Korea, which may even come as soon as next week according to Sports Seoul. May-June is said to be planned timing of release, with talks ongoing with partners for large scale ceremonies/events at launch.

but guys its just a false rumor

Would be incredible if true i think. You have to wonder what could happen in korea if this is done well. I don't expect it to be number one again, but it surely would boost the scene quite a lot? HYPED

Wut? Foreal? Is it....is it happening?

Ugh. Does that mean we have to use B.net 2.0.....
Edit: Unless that means they'll include the MM'ing of B.net 2.0 and the daily tournaments then I'll finally accept it but it's still a POS UI/Service compared to 1.0.

Could be nice. We shall see. Maybe they will finally return my emails surrounding planning sc tournaments with them. Hopefully they care enough about foreign players to make things happen.

No idea if its credible or not, since my heart was already broken last October-November. I'm skeptical of this because a game being announced and released in 3 months is very odd for Blizzard, but at the same time they have never done remasters before, so its up in the air.

Honestly...This is going to do fine for a while just like a sc2 xpac, but you can't expect an incredible ammount of success with a game that's so hard to play like Starcraft 1. I'm not saying it won't be popular. If they make this it will gain a lot of traction, and will probably make those guys that are playing BW in korea move to this remastered versión so Blizzard bennefits too, but honestly I find it almost imposible to reach the level of viewership even starcraft 2 had around 2012.

Wow... it's not going to be easy to keep game play _exactly_ the same.
Other classics that underwent the "remaster" treatment has had spotty results.

Fair concern but it's also blizzard and their polish on game visuals is absolutely top quality. Coding and gameplay bugs is a bit of a different story but blizzard is damn good at presentation.

Good question is, if i own BW on my battle net account, do i have to rebuy BW:HD?
|
good way to grab some cash just for adding hd resolution
|
Blizzard please leave us alone holy fuck
|
Hope it's true. If BW came back in HD, same gameplay and Match Making with ranks I will definitely be playing again.
