I mean, some people think CS: Source played the same as CS 1.6, when in reality they were two completely different games.

Its hard to think how much nicer the zergling can look when it is pixel limited. Good point. But imagine if Blizzard would tweak unit movement etc (actual gameplay). That would be what scares me more than graphical update(s).

I hope they won't ask 60$ for a 20 year old game, but this is Activision we're talking about. Why would the balance team have anything to do with a remaster?

Tbh it should be released free...anything else i cant see people staying with it, some might try it but its the whole player base thing where if everyone already has it, why are they going to switch to a less populated version Iirc you can retrieve your cdkey using for e.g chaoslauncher. Not sure if that's still an up to date program.

How a unit looks, and how much collision size it has in the game, are completely independent, or at least can be made to be that way. Think about working stacking as an example.

If they spend the time & effort giving it this uplift, there's absolutely no reason that it should only be done as fan service, IMO.

Its hard to think how much nicer the zergling can look when it is pixel limited. Doesn't have to, if everything is scaled up truly proportionally. For example, if it goes from 32 pixels/hex to 64 pixels/hex, then the # of pixels wide any gaps are and the # of pixels wide all units are stay exactly the same relative to one another. A ling-proof wall-in would remain a ling-proof wall-in, etc. etc. What would bug me is if they somehow made it 3D... I really don't like the way SC2 looks, and changing the engine would have gameplay repercussions that go far behind graphics and into gameplay, and almost certainly in ways that much of the community would never accept. Use the BW sprites, just up the res, and don't fark around with the engine at all, 'cept for a few obvious bug fixes. My take, anyway. Of course, some things will be different no matter what. Hard to see how they'd keep on going with BW's 4:3 aspect ratio, for one.

Because they obviously want the current broodwar "pros/streamers" to start using it(thus the rest of the player base), and in the end have the current tournaments use the HD version. The only way that works is if everyone playing it right now, can play it just as freely as the original (pretty sure the ratio of actual legal broodwar vs illegally downloaded ones are like 1:1000 if not more), if players and tournaments wont adopted it, it will make blizzard look really bad and the HD would be considered a failure.
