Getting better graphics etc is nothing big, but hopefully the hype and attention this generates wld be a positive for the game.

Blizzard does stealth releases of games where they keep it a secret and then jump up out of nowhere and say "hey SC fans... give us $60!!!!"
doesn't make sense.

what this might be is a trial balloon released to assess demand.... or it might just be pure unadulterated bs.

If you can adjust your hotkeys in the game and write your own setup. For example I use a modified grid layout (normal grid has T as attack for example, but I changed it to A) and I would like to use the same layout in Broodwar remastered.

If there are no custom hotkeys, it will be very hard to play both games at the same time, because your muscle memory won't work on both games.

I will be amazed if they go ahead and sell this as a stand alone game, surely it should be bundled somehow with SC2

If this is true, it explains why the balance/design team has neglected SC2 so much, they're cashing in elsewhere.

I hope they won't ask 60$ for a 20 year old game, but this is Activision we're talking about.

Honestly if you have StarCraft, BW, WoL, HotS and LotV on your battle net account already, they should give out remastered for free or very cheap.

Not gonna pay 20 or 30 bucks for this and certainly not full price.

But they won't change the gameplay, balance or design for remastered, so that team has nothing to do with remastered.

Hopefully they'll stick to the old sprites but simply enhancing the resolution with which they are presented in the game. I have heard that Blizzard actually have in their possession high-resolution versions of every sprite (units, buildings etc.) - templates if you will - that was used in the final product. If true, then one can hope that the only point of in-game difference between "BW Classic" and BW 2.0 is that the latter includes these "template" sprites as opposed to the downgraded ones we have now.

Though I am not sure if BW would look as good (or to be more precise, be as aesthetically pleasing) if the resolution was upgraded in this way. Maybe part of the reason why BW units, buildings, terrain and animations look so good are due an impressionism phenomena if you will - the exlusion of details leading ones' mind to fill in the gaps of visual information, thereby stimulating some part of the brain/imagination that is responsible for that "oddly-satisfying" response that I have (and suspect other do to) when watching BW.

Because of the above, it would be good of them to incorporate a toggle feature, allowing you to change - even mid game - between the old-school graphics and the newer, updated graphics.
