Every time I think I'm done with Brood War and the scene sucks, I somehow get pulled back in. The last few league's games and finals were so disappointing that I thought I'd finally become bored of it. And still, with the lowest expectations, I decided to try watching ASL. What the heck? Some of these games are actually pretty good. I guess when it comes down to it, what's happening to BW right now is that the band is getting back together. All the pieces of TBLS are here, lots of strong players from the end of the professional scene have stuck around, and it seems to finally be getting them motivated. There's still the trash matches here and there, bad gg timing, etc. And I haven't seen any of the monster games that would make my week back in the day. But I have seen some pretty inspirational effort, and it just looks like the old names I remembered are playing hard again.
It's really got me excited to keep watching. And I think I've finally learned my lesson with watching the English casts... They're just for someone else. I watched with Korean commentary for eons. There ain't a Klazart or a 2008 era Tasteless casting, and until there is I'm not going to support it. I am having way more fun thinking out and analysing the game myself, and at this point I think if there weren't a Korean stream I'd actually mute the commentary. Not because there aren't a lot of people out there who like it but I just can't pay attention to the game, and it's a game that deserves attention.
By the mouse of Flash, I nearly thought I'd traded in StarCraft for watching 囲碁。When am I going to see someone who looks like Cho Chikun play StarCraft?? Maybe 2052 MSL the dream of hilarious looking old people playing StarCraft will be a reality. Goodness, the potential is limitless.
By the way if you're wondering why this bad blog is featured it's because I was a featured blogger many moons ago back when I fought hard to be a blogjwa on the blog ladder. Sorry if you thought featured blog meant something else, someone writes a reply every time about my bad blogs being misplaced. Tough cookies!
Damn you, Brood War! I thought that ancient and treasured saying that the game will die within a year or two had finally come true. Why is the prophecy always wrong?!

This game's a phoenix. Even though it was killed off, it's back, and with heart.

ASL2 is really exciting.
I understand your gripe with the English casts because the game knowledge and mistakes being made are pretty glaring in both streams, however I am enjoying the banter on occasion. What I really appreciate about the Artosis/Rapid stream is getting live translations of the pre and post game interviews with the players, gives you a little more inclusion beyond the games themselves.
+ Show Spoiler [Day2 ASL2] + How fucking great was Rain vs Effort? Lights build vs Effort in the final game was also really well chosen

As always, this a great time to shamelessly plug our english cast: http://afreeca.tv/ASL2ENG2 FlashFTW and I paired up this season and other then a slight technical issue to start day 3, our casts have been going great. Hopefully our extreme passion for casting can get you hooked this season. :D

Day 2 has shown me that I still care too much about BW and it hurts.

Don't worry, it's not just you. I just couldn't quite get into the recent tournaments due to the low quality of the games. But after watching ASL, I'm actually feeling myself drawn in again.

I liked Storks first game a lot. He does things. New things! A pylonthing. Also it's Stork. Otherwise playqualitywise the returning players are not back in their old shape yet. But it's cool to see them play, see how much they still got though. Like Jaedongs last game where he ends up behind but doesn't cuz his macro and army regrouping is still ridicilous.
