+ Show Spoiler [Ro12 Winner Interviews] +
To all the playoffs participants: congratulations on advancing to the TLCMAT playoffs! The following interviews were conducted in order to HYPE up the playoffs, and so that the TL community can get to know each player better. Hopefully everyone gave detailed and/or interesting answers. People get enough of the KeSPA PR crap with the interviews that I translate So, without further ado, here are the Ro12 winner interviews!
BisuDagger
+ Show Spoiler [Interview] +
First off, please introduce yourself to the TL community. (What do you do eSports wise and what do you do real world wise?) Please explain your ID as well. How did you come to choose it?
Sup, I’m BisuDagger. I am a resident Brood War staff member where I write articles and cast major Starcraft 1 tournaments (shoutouts to my Co-Caster AmazingXKCD). When I’m not writing Bisu Biased articles I am programming aircraft simulations. I’ve worked on the Apache, Chinook, BlackHawk, and currently am working on the Boeing 737.
In order to participate in the TLCMAT, you had to be nominated in. How did you feel when members of the community nominated you in so that you could take part in this season’s TLCMAT? Were you surprised at how quickly or slowly you were nominated in?
I’m happy to have been nominated for every TLCMAT. Ro12 has been a major road block as I lost to both eventual winners, opterown and KBB. I have mad respect for both those guys and am extremely happy they won.
Out of the Ro48, Ro24, and the Ro12, which match/matches did you anticipate was/were going to be the most difficult? How come? What was your strategy to defeat that/those opponent(s)?
I was sad to be paired up in a group with my Co-Caster for the first round, but I think we can all agree we “made TLCMAT great again” by eliminating the Trump impersonations. The rest of my opponent’s I did not worry about because I knew that my Brood War/SC2 community member support was strong enough to get me this far. I believe I watch more combined SC1 and SC2 then anyone else (excluding Blind-Rawr) and have been very supportive of both. Most people don’t remember, but I used to make LR threads for SC2 back when SNM and Whiplash were casters.
You participated in the previous season of TLCMAT. How does it feel to participate in it again this season? What did you tell yourself that you were going to do differently this time around than last time?
Being back here is pretty sweet. For most of us, the work we do for TL isn’t always transparent, so this is a really nice way to be honored. This tournament I’ve definitely toned down my trash talk.
What is your goal for this season? How badly do you want to win the championship?
Winning this championship is always my goal, but I’m always happy with the winner cause all of these guys are awesome.
Let’s have some fun with this one. Please use this opportunity to shit-talk your Ro8 opponent into oblivion!
I already defeated The_Templar in the previous round. He’s going to have to really impress the community. I just checked and saw he is a fan of MVP, so he must be okay with losing. Knocking him out in the ro8 might even make him feel more comfortable. No one likes an MVP fan with high hopes amiright?
Why should people vote for you? What exactly makes you stand out among the rest?
Vote for me because it’s cool. My height probably makes me stand out the most. I’m 6’3.
Out of the players remaining in the playoffs, who do you consider to be the toughest opponent(s) that could hinder you from winning the whole thing? Why so?
KBB and Seeker hands down my toughest opponents. KBB defeated me multiple times last year because last year’s organizer found it hilarious to keep pairing us up each round. Seeker has the tournament organizer’s advantage and is all around awesome. I have tricks up my sleeve for these two.
Out of the players who did not make it to the playoffs, which one(s) surprised you the most by the fact that they got eliminated? How far did you think they were going to go?
Shellbot used to be a round 8 level contestant and is really great to have on the forums. I expected another strong showing. Maybe his post count isn’t impressive anymore.
Have you been posting in the propaganda thread? Have you kept your promises? How creative did you have to get to try to get those votes?
I posted very little in the propaganda thread. I would have loved to done more but things have been really rough. I have been bed ridden sick for 2 of the last 4 weeks and father was also admitted to the ICU last Sunday and will not recover so I haven’t had time to enjoy this season. I did however promise topless programmer pictures. I already have Zest and Innovation pictures and will have 3 more gamers by the finals (if I make it that far).
BAH! Boring questions… Let’s dick around now. (These are different from last season's questions)
Imagine that instead of through TL’s online voting system, the winner could instead be determined by a "TL's Got Talent" contest. What would your talent be and how would you win this thing?
My talent would be coding. In front of an audience, I would access Blizzard’s source code for SC2, make mech viable, add high ground advantage, and integrate all of LaLush’s suggestions from the depth of micro thread. And if you’re not impressed I can show you my webbed toes instead.
You and the seven others in the TLCMAT playoffs are the only survivors in a global zombie apocalypse. Who is so pathetically weak that they'd be the first to die? Who is so intelligent and powerful that they'd be the last to die? Who has such admirable leadership traits that they'd outlast the zombies and everyone else in the group?
I’d say anyone on the wiki staff must be horribly weak. They spend so much time making that section of TL awesome that everything but their hands have atrophied. I’d have the highest chance of survival being a physical giant, but as soon as I lose a contact I’m screwed. Shiro is the most admirable. Everyone loves Shiro. I’m sure zombies would love Shiro so much they’d erect an undead shrine in Shiro’s favor. Of course Olli will be the one to betray and destroy Shiro.
A beloved family member has been kidnapped by a group of pirates. You need to pick two other TLCMAT quarter-finalists to go with you on this rescue mission. Who would you pick and why?
Seeker and The_Templar based purely on their names they are sure to find and protect one of my four sister’s that was kidnapped. Plus Seeker went to the University of Florida so we are practically brothers.
You have the ability to turn back time. At which point in your life would you turn back to so you can alter the past? What if altering the past meant you never got to participate in TLCMAT Season 3?
I’d go back in time and alter the past so Bisu finally wins an OSL. The fabric of reality will be torn at this point and the lord Cthulhu will rise from the depths of spaghetti hell and consume us all. The only survivor would by Olli, who would betray us all and hide inside of a horse outfit until the apocalypse is over. So he will forever be the TCMAT champion.
FINAL QUESTION! The Avengers from the Marvel universe call you up to be the new addition to the group. What is your superpower? How would you use this superpower to further your advantage during the TLCMAT Season 3 playoffs?
I’d harness the power of KPop. In an instant I could turn myself into 4,5,8,15 member boy or girl kpop group and immediately distract everyone with my cutesy song lyrics and Korean goods. TLCMAT voters would love me more than bubble pop.
The_Templar
+ Show Spoiler [Interview] +
First off, please introduce yourself to the TL community. (What do you do eSports wise and what do you do real world wise?) Please explain your ID as well. How did you come to choose it?
(The_Templar, shiroiusagi, Seeker, and KadaverBB already answered this part last season so it has been omitted.)
Well, first of all, it's great to be here in the Ro8 and have this chance to discuss some of TL's history. I've been honored to be a live reporter and writer on TL for three and two years, respectively, as well as a banling for one year. I have been somewhat inactive on TL for a few months due to extremely difficult classes at my university.
In order to participate in the TLCMAT, you had to be nominated in. How did you feel when members of the community nominated you in so that you could take part in this season’s TLCMAT? Were you surprised at how quickly or slowly you were nominated in?
I think that I was nominated by some great people.
Out of the Ro48, Ro24, and the Ro12, which match/matches did you anticipate was/were going to be the most difficult? How come? What was your strategy to defeat that/those opponent(s)?
Well, let's talk about how people are voting. If you vote for somebody on the merits, one of my merits is that I'm a banling, and I think that makes a big difference in today's TL. So, I think that we should just consider whether this is an important issue for other people.
You participated in the previous season of TLCMAT. How does it feel to participate in it again this season? What did you tell yourself that you were going to do differently this time around than last time?
😄🙄🤔
What is your goal for this season? How badly do you want to win the championship?
That's an excellent question, SeeKeR.
Let’s have some fun with this one. Please use this opportunity to shit-talk your Ro8 opponent into oblivion!
BisuDagger, delete your account.
Why should people vote for you? What exactly makes you stand out among the rest?
I will look into it.
Out of the players remaining in the playoffs, who do you consider to be the toughest opponent(s) that could hinder you from winning the whole thing? Why so?
You need to vote for me in order to stop SeeKeR from winning. He cannot be allowed to win this tournament.
Out of the players who did not make it to the playoffs, which one(s) surprised you the most by the fact that they got eliminated? How far did you think they were going to go?
Lorning has been possibly the most vital contributor to TL in the past few years, so I was very surprised to defeat him in the last group stage.
Have you been posting in the propaganda thread? Have you kept your promises? How creative did you have to get to try to get those votes?
Well, amazingxkcd tried his Trump impersonation, but he was clearly not fit for the job and not subtle at all, so I'm glad he was eliminated. I kept all of my promises, both last year and this year. I think I'm the most transparent public official on TL in modern times.
BAH! Boring questions… Let’s dick around now. (These are different from last season's questions)
Imagine that instead of through TL’s online voting system, the winner could instead be determined by a "TL's Got Talent" contest. What would your talent be and how would you win this thing?
Now that your questions are more interesting, I can start giving serious answers.
Does this talent contest mean something similar to a real-life talent contest? I can improvise pretty well on piano.
I wanted to say that Lorning is already dead, but he didn't make it into the Ro8, so I guess Olli would die first. FO-nTTaX seems like a really smart person, so I think he would survive for the longest. I'm not picking myself here because I don't have the physical strength to survive incredibly long and I'm thinking that FO-nTTaX is probably better suited in that department. KadaverBB would probably be the leader, which seems pretty clear to me. Plus, he can hit the zombies with a giant hammer.
A beloved family member has been kidnapped by a group of pirates. You need to pick two other TLCMAT quarter-finalists to go with you on this rescue mission. Who would you pick and why?
I feel like Olli has tons of experience with pirates, so I'll pick him first. I'm also going to pick my Ro8 opponent, BisuDagger, since he can distract the pirates with tons of Bisu spam and hopefully keep them absorbed in pictures of Bisu's face.
You have the ability to turn back time. At which point in your life would you turn back to so you can alter the past? What if altering the past meant you never got to participate in TLCMAT Season 3?
Uh... I'll go back 1 year so I can do a better job in school and do some side projects faster. I don't really like the idea of turning back time too much, and I don't want to do something potentially catastrophic. Certain dismal events have also happened in the last year, and while I'm not too comfortable with experiencing them again, the knowledge that it's going to happen will probably help. I'm not prepared to try to stop these events, and I only get to go back once, so I'm not going to risk making them worse.
Also, I was in charge of TLCMAT 3 a year ago so I'm pretty sure I'd get to participate in it. 1 year wasn't enough time between this one and the last so I might even postpone it.
FINAL QUESTION! The Avengers from the Marvel universe call you up to be the new addition to the group. What is your superpower? How would you use this superpower to further your advantage during the TLCMAT Season 3 playoffs?
I now have the ability to create any sound I want by manipulating sound waves with my hands. This will probably not help me in any realistic way regarding TLCMAT, but IRL I will be feeling pretty awesome.
KadaverBB
+ Show Spoiler [Interview] +
First off, please introduce yourself to the TL community. (What do you do eSports wise and what do you do real world wise?) Please explain your ID as well. How did you come to choose it?
(The_Templar, shiroiusagi, Seeker, and KadaverBB already answered this part last season so it has been omitted.)
Hello mortals, I am the mighty KadaverBB. I'm in charge of moderating our forums which at the moment mainly consists of facepalming at both our politics threads. I also make sure that our TLpro calendar is up to date, check our teamliquid support email and lots of other "minor" stuff. Basically I'm the TL janitor.
I do not have a real life anymore, it has been consumed by TL a long time ago.
In order to participate in the TLCMAT, you had to be nominated in. How did you feel when members of the community nominated you in so that you could take part in this season’s TLCMAT? Were you surprised at how quickly or slowly you were nominated in?
I figured I would get nonimated at some point, it really didn't matter to me that much if I was nominated early or late. It would have sucked if I did not get nominated at all though, going from tournament winner to not participating would have left me with a bruised ego
Out of the Ro48, Ro24, and the Ro12, which match/matches did you anticipate was/were going to be the most difficult? How come? What was your strategy to defeat that/those opponent(s)?
This is an easy answer. I expected Nazgul to utterly destroy me, and so he did. I have no idea why I actually did win against him in our rematch. Maybe because he was too busy being awesome and had no time to spare to check these threads. It would have been very ironic to be eliminated by him though, since I was the one who encouraged him to participate in this in the first place.
You participated in the previous season of TLCMAT. How does it feel to participate in it again this season? What did you tell yourself that you were going to do differently this time around than last time?
Unfortunately this season is more "boring". Most people that are participating are not even posting in these threads much, so there is little fun trashtalk going on. Next time you have to kick this afk trash!
What is your goal for this season? How badly do you want to win the championship?
I've actually gotten farther than I anticipated, but now I might as well go for the win!
Let’s have some fun with this one. Please use this opportunity to shit-talk your Ro8 opponent into oblivion!
No matter what happens here Shiro, your future president will either be Hillary or Trump. You are fucked either way!
Why should people vote for you? What exactly makes you stand out among the rest?
I am actually actively participating in this contest, the others are mostly afk. I should totally win by default. And I'm a nice guy with a cute icon.
Out of the players remaining in the playoffs, who do you consider to be the toughest opponent(s) that could hinder you from winning the whole thing? Why so?
Shiro is probably the toughest since we are good friends. Playing against her sucks lol.
Out of the players who did not make it to the playoffs, which one(s) surprised you the most by the fact that they got eliminated? How far did you think they were going to go?
I assumed plexa would go far, but he chose to fall in his sword. Very honourable, but foolish.
Have you been posting in the propaganda thread? Have you kept your promises? How creative did you have to get to try to get those votes?
I have not been posting thaaat much, unfortunately this year the tournament feels very "sterile". We definitely need some more shittalk in this. After the tournament is over I will post some more of my hatemail though, that's unfortunately the only thing I can provide since I receive nothing else.
BAH! Boring questions… Let’s dick around now. (These are different from last season's questions)
Imagine that instead of through TL’s online voting system, the winner could instead be determined by a "TL's Got Talent" contest. What would your talent be and how would you win this thing?
I have no real life talents whatsoever, I would have been boo'd of the stage a long time ago. Unless burping on command is impressive, I really have nothing going for me.
This is an excellent question. Hopefully salle would go first, Zombies are already annoying enough, I don't need constant joking about how poopy germans are while I'm trying desperately not to die.
You (Seeker) would probably be our leader, since you have the oldest Teamliquid account, this automatically makes you the wisest and strongest.
A beloved family member has been kidnapped by a group of pirates. You need to pick two other TLCMAT quarter-finalists to go with you on this rescue mission. Who would you pick and why?
All members of my family are 100% badass. They can probably deal with pirates on their own. I'd probably take Shiro and Olli along because I think they deserve cool pirate loot the most. Shiro probably looks funny with an eyepatch.
You have the ability to turn back time. At which point in your life would you turn back to so you can alter the past? What if altering the past meant you never got to participate in TLCMAT Season 3?
I am skipping this one -.- Fixing my past would be totally worth not participating in this tournament though, sorry to say
FINAL QUESTION! The Avengers from the Marvel universe call you up to be the new addition to the group. What is your superpower? How would you use this superpower to further your advantage during the TLCMAT Season 3 playoffs?
My hammer is cooler than Thor's, I'd replace him because he is boring as fuck. He is about as boring as my answer to this question. Yes, I'm boring.
shiroiusagi
+ Show Spoiler [Interview] +
First off, please introduce yourself to the TL community. (What do you do eSports wise and what do you do real world wise?) Please explain your ID as well. How did you come to choose it?
(The_Templar, shiroiusagi, Seeker, and KadaverBB already answered this part last season so it has been omitted.)
I like rabbits, year of the rabbit.
In order to participate in the TLCMAT, you had to be nominated in. How did you feel when members of the community nominated you in so that you could take part in this season’s TLCMAT? Were you surprised at how quickly or slowly you were nominated in?
When getting nominated it's pretty flattering the fact I used to float around a lot doing things. Now it's a little more concentrated with a little bit of floating around. Also I am not really out there so not a whole lot of people know who I am (I think.)
Out of the Ro48, Ro24, and the Ro12, which match/matches did you anticipate was/were going to be the most difficult? How come? What was your strategy to defeat that/those opponent(s)?
The last round, I thought I was gonna be knocked out for sure since I lost one round to Template. I had no strategy I just let it take it's course. XD At this point I am swimming with people who are very active in the forums so hard to compete.
You participated in the previous season of TLCMAT. How does it feel to participate in it again this season? What did you tell yourself that you were going to do differently this time around than last time?
I did nothing. :D
What is your goal for this season? How badly do you want to win the championship?
Winning would be nice, but I don't see it happening since written content will always > graphics.
Let’s have some fun with this one. Please use this opportunity to shit-talk your Ro8 opponent into oblivion!
Gonna drop you like a sack of potatoes and put you in casing like a sausage!
Why should people vote for you? What exactly makes you stand out among the rest?
People should vote for me because a lot of people said if I never came to TLnet, would have perished a long time ago. Not sure 100% true that is, but I have been told by good few people.
Out of the players remaining in the playoffs, who do you consider to be the toughest opponent(s) that could hinder you from winning the whole thing? Why so?
It all seems so hard haha. So stacked.
Out of the players who did not make it to the playoffs, which one(s) surprised you the most by the fact that they got eliminated? How far did you think they were going to go?
Stu.
Have you been posting in the propaganda thread? Have you kept your promises? How creative did you have to get to try to get those votes?
BAH! Boring questions… Let’s dick around now. (These are different from last season's questions)
Imagine that instead of through TL’s online voting system, the winner could instead be determined by a "TL's Got Talent" contest. What would your talent be and how would you win this thing?
I don't particularly have any special performance talents. ><
Kadaver... LOL Sorry. >< Or me. I am not too sure about those last two questions. I don't see anyone outlasting zombies! XD
A beloved family member has been kidnapped by a group of pirates. You need to pick two other TLCMAT quarter-finalists to go with you on this rescue mission. Who would you pick and why?
Seeker cause he has the name Seeker, live up to your username! Not sure about the 2nd person.
You have the ability to turn back time. At which point in your life would you turn back to so you can alter the past? What if altering the past meant you never got to participate in TLCMAT Season 3?
Maybe tell myself to commit to getting a BA, but then I would have never found TLnet. >w<
FINAL QUESTION! The Avengers from the Marvel universe call you up to be the new addition to the group. What is your superpower? How would you use this superpower to further your advantage during the TLCMAT Season 3 playoffs?
Draw things and they come to life! But once touching water I guess they turn into globs of ink and stick to the ground. XD I'd draw little things to flee into the world and log onto people's computers and have them vote for me buahahahahahahaha!
Olli
+ Show Spoiler [Interview] +
First off, please introduce yourself to the TL community. (What do you do eSports wise and what do you do real world wise?) Please explain your ID as well. How did you come to choose it?
Olli is my nickname! Technically it's Oliver, but all my friends call me Olli. Since I decided to be friends with literally everyone on TL, I figured everyone should call me by that name. I recently changed my ID from DarkLordOlli to Olli. I never really liked DLO after puberty but it stuck with me since I'd used it ever since I was 12 or so. But with more responsibility and visibility (I've used TL articles as references for job and university interviews before), I figured I should drop the silly name and go with something a little more serious. Who wants to hire someone called DarkLordOlli after all?
In order to participate in the TLCMAT, you had to be nominated in. How did you feel when members of the community nominated you in so that you could take part in this season’s TLCMAT? Were you surprised at how quickly or slowly you were nominated in?
It's always nice to see that people somewhat enjoy having me around. I can be a bit of a dick at times, but I genuinely enjoy TL and SCII a lot. I figured I'd probably get nominated by some of the writers, since we always do that to each other - which is what happened.
Out of the Ro48, Ro24, and the Ro12, which match/matches did you anticipate was/were going to be the most difficult? How come? What was your strategy to defeat that/those opponent(s)?
Well, I was drawn against Stacey (shiroiusagi) right away. If there's any justice in this world, I'm never winning against her. Luckily I didn't. DARKING must feel devastated after I beat him by a vote (and lichter did as well, eliminating him). After that, I figured I'd lose against lichter, simply because he does more than me and would deserve the win. But I won by a single vote again. I know that has to be eating away at him. Especially after he visited me in Vienna recently and paid for dinner. Sorry Juanito
You participated in the previous season of TLCMAT. How does it feel to participate in it again this season? What did you tell yourself that you were going to do differently this time around than last time?
I wasn't expecting to go this far honestly. I've been horribly busy with school in recent weeks, so I had no time to do proper-ganda (hue). Last time I did, with promises and all. I still made the Ro8 again. I guess the life lesson here is never actually do anything?
What is your goal for this season? How badly do you want to win the championship?
Looking at my bracket, I think a good result is possible. Seeker will be a hard nut to crack, but I've beaten salle before and everyone knows he's the only important LP staff in the running. If I beat Seeker, I might even set my eyes on the trophy. But for now it's one match after another.
Let’s have some fun with this one. Please use this opportunity to shit-talk your Ro8 opponent into oblivion!
Seeker being in this is like the host country of a football World Cup being in it. Yeah, it's in there, but everyone knows that if it wasn't hosting, it probably wouldn't be.
Why should people vote for you? What exactly makes you stand out among the rest?
After lichter moved on to what he thinks are bigger things (they're not), I'm now in charge of the SCII writing staff on this site. Although much credit needs to go to Park (thecrazymunchkin) for his huge effort, I'm now the longest standing SCII writing staff member that's still active (except for stuchiu). Since stu has also started writing about other eSports and I haven't, that makes me the most passionate. A vote for me is a vote for passion.
Out of the players remaining in the playoffs, who do you consider to be the toughest opponent(s) that could hinder you from winning the whole thing? Why so?
KadaverBB. He knocked me out last season and again beat me in the Ro12 of this one. The man has my number and I can't be mean to him. He's a Yoshi ffs.
Out of the players who did not make it to the playoffs, which one(s) surprised you the most by the fact that they got eliminated? How far did you think they were going to go?
Stuchiu, definitely. I was expecting him to win again, with his recent surge in popularity. He's being retweeted by Thooorin now, how is he not winning this?
Have you been posting in the propaganda thread? Have you kept your promises? How creative did you have to get to try to get those votes?
I have, but I haven't made any promises. I couldn't have kept them with my busy schedule. So yes, I have kept 100% of the promises I made.
Imagine that instead of through TL’s online voting system, the winner could instead be determined by a "TL's Got Talent" contest. What would your talent be and how would you win this thing?
I can survive the longest on trains. My entire life is basically a sequence of trains from one point to another. Nobody can beat me at trains. The other contestants would drop out after a few hours. You can't imagine the horror, but I can.
I think Stacey (shiro) dies first. She's actually too nice to be mean to even braindead zombies. She'd probably draw them and turn them into little doodle zombies while they're eating away at her brains.
The_Templar would die last. He can split off numerous alternate accounts that would distract the zombies while real Templar gets away.
BisuDagger has experience with zombies since he survived the death of Brood War and now its resurrection. I guess he'd live.
A beloved family member has been kidnapped by a group of pirates. You need to pick two other TLCMAT quarter-finalists to go with you on this rescue mission. Who would you pick and why?
First I'd pick Salle because he's Swedish and could probably contact Zealously, whom I'd then trade him for. Zealously is a world class swimming athlete. Pirates use ships. Ships float on water. You get the idea.
I'd probably also pick KBB, since I know he's one cold blooded motherfucker, as demonstrated frequently by his moderation. Can't be nice to pirates.
You have the ability to turn back time. At which point in your life would you turn back to so you can alter the past? What if altering the past meant you never got to participate in TLCMAT Season 3?
I probably wouldn't go back at all. I'm quite happy right now!
FINAL QUESTION! The Avengers from the Marvel universe call you up to be the new addition to the group. What is your superpower? How would you use this superpower to further your advantage during the TLCMAT Season 3 playoffs?
Teleportation. The ability to be at any place I want to be in the blink of an eye. How that would further my chances in TLCMAT is easy. I'd teleport to wherever Seeker is right now and force him to forfeit. Then I'd do the same with all the others. Hello eSports dollars!
Seeker
+ Show Spoiler [Interview] +
First off, please introduce yourself to the TL community. (What do you do eSports wise and what do you do real world wise?) Please explain your ID as well. How did you come to choose it?
(The_Templar, shiroiusagi, Seeker, and KadaverBB already answered this part last season so it has been omitted.)
Hello, I am Seeker. I am a KR/EN translator on TL, the person in charge of SC2 liquibets, the person in charge of fan clubs, the author of Plexa & Waffles, a moderator, and the person in charge of just being all around awesomeest dude on TL. Oh, and I’m also the supervisor of this tournament so my word is final on everything
In order to participate in the TLCMAT, you had to be nominated in. How did you feel when members of the community nominated you in so that you could take part in this season’s TLCMAT? Were you surprised at how quickly or slowly you were nominated in?
Just like last year, I felt honored to take part in this season of TLCMAT. I was surprised that I was the 11th person nominated in. I was so sure I would at least be in the Top 10 this season -__-;;
Out of the Ro48, Ro24, and the Ro12, which match/matches did you anticipate was/were going to be the most difficult? How come? What was your strategy to defeat that/those opponent(s)?
Meh... Like Kadaver mentioned, this season is more boring than last season. I got through all my groups with relative ease so none of them were really "difficult." But now that I'm in the playoffs, it's time for shit to get real -.-
You participated in the previous season of TLCMAT. How does it feel to participate in it again this season? What did you tell yourself that you were going to do differently this time around than last time?
I made it to the playoffs last season so I was pretty proud of that. But then my Ro8 opponent ended up being stuchiu and he completely spanked me all across the board. It was a rather anti-climactic finish so I'm hoping to do better this time around. LET'S DO THIS!
What is your goal for this season? How badly do you want to win the championship?
My goal is to do better than last season. I don't really care about winning the championship. Running this tournament is already draining enough. Let someone else work their ass off to win. I just want to kick back and watch the bloodbath.
Let’s have some fun with this one. Please use this opportunity to shit-talk your Ro8 opponent into oblivion!
Olli you suck. Some of your previous opponents you just like BARELY beat them. You're clearly not fit to be champion and I seriously doubt you're going to get past me. What the hell kind of ID is Olli anyways? Are you some kind of 10 year old kid? Go back to writing mediocre articles for TL and leave the real stuff to the men.
Why should people vote for you? What exactly makes you stand out among the rest?
and
Out of the players remaining in the playoffs, who do you consider to be the toughest opponent(s) that could hinder you from winning the whole thing? Why so?
KadaverBB. He's last year's champion and he's still kicking ass this year with no sign of slowing down. He's like the Mvp of TLCMAT... He needs to... Be involved in some kind of "freak accident" soon or he's just going to win again.
Out of the players who did not make it to the playoffs, which one(s) surprised you the most by the fact that they got eliminated? How far did you think they were going to go?
Plexa dropping out really threw me for a loop. Nazgul not even making it past the Ro24 was like "wtf?" I really expected a lot of Men in Reds to make it farther than they did. They're the backbone of the whole TL system after all.
Have you been posting in the propaganda thread? Have you kept your promises? How creative did you have to get to try to get those votes?
Nope. Too lazy. The only thing I could promise is more Plexa & Waffles chapters, but I don't have the same passion as I did when I first started the series. Besides, I'm already working on the new chapter right now anyways. It'll be released soon™.
BAH! Boring questions… Let’s dick around now. (These are different from last season's questions)
Imagine that instead of through TL’s online voting system, the winner could instead be determined by a "TL's Got Talent" contest. What would your talent be and how would you win this thing?
Hmmm... Talent... Do I even have any...? Meh, fuck it, I'll just tell a heartbreaking, tear-jerking story about a troubled past and then use my angelic voice to fuck over all my competition.
First to die would be salle. He's just too old to keep hanging with the young'uns. (He also stated in his interview that I'd be the first to die so I'm letting him know that "it is so fucking on..." Last to die would be Olli. Even though he's my Ro8 opponent, I can't deny the fact that his handsomeness, swagness, and suaveness has enchanted me. Only remaining survivor would be Kadaver. he can just "ban" all the zombies from touching him.
A beloved family member has been kidnapped by a group of pirates. You need to pick two other TLCMAT quarter-finalists to go with you on this rescue mission. Who would you pick and why?
I would take FO and BisuDagger. From that picture above, I can tell BisuDagger is physically fit enough to handle going toe-to-toe with pirates. And FO because I can take that sweetass hat for myself once he dies.
You have the ability to turn back time. At which point in your life would you turn back to so you can alter the past? What if altering the past meant you never got to participate in TLCMAT Season 3?
LOL! Oh boy... Time fucking travel... Even though every moral of a time travel related movie is that one should never mess with time, I guess we're doing this.
I would go back to my high school days and try to fix all those times I fucked up with girls. When I was still just a dumb teenager, I was very stupid, clueless, and oblivious when it came to girls. My gosh... Just thinking about it now makes me want to facepalm and smash my head into a wall...
What If altering the past meant I never got to participate in TLCMAT Season 3? Meh, I think I'd still do it. Like I said... Horrible past -__-;;
FINAL QUESTION! The Avengers from the Marvel universe call you up to be the new addition to the group. What is your superpower? How would you use this superpower to further your advantage during the TLCMAT Season 3 playoffs?
My power would be Seeker Missile If you watch those superhero movies, the enemies always clump themselves up and just blindly charge at you. Well... They're in for a big ass surprise when fighting me.
(The_Templar, shiroiusagi, Seeker, and KadaverBB already answered this part last season so it has been omitted.)

FO-nTTaX
+ Show Spoiler [Interview] +
First off, please introduce yourself to the TL community. (What do you do eSports wise and what do you do real world wise?) Please explain your ID as well. How did you come to choose it?
Hey, i am FO or FO-nTTaX. In the esports world, i mostly maintain Liquipedia. For a real life job, this would be the same. Telling the whole story of how FO-nTTaX came to happen as an ID would take a couple pages, so i am going to go with a short version: FO is a real life nickname from my youth, so i had that. But registering with two-letter nicknames is pretty hard for a lot of things, so i had to add something. The nTTaX is roughly based on the old Team Alternate handle aTTaX, a team i was a big fan of at the time. Throw in a dash to make clear that this are two parts, and here we go.
In order to participate in the TLCMAT, you had to be nominated in. How did you feel when members of the community nominated you in so that you could take part in this season’s TLCMAT? Were you surprised at how quickly or slowly you were nominated in?
Well, Liquipedia has a close community and i am pretty present this year on TeamLiquid.net, so i was not really surprised to get voted in. I was surprised that Seeker didn't know i was an admin though, what a scrub.
Out of the Ro48, Ro24, and the Ro12, which match/matches did you anticipate was/were going to be the most difficult? How come? What was your strategy to defeat that/those opponent(s)?
I was in groups with Tephus, Lorning and stuchiu, all of which have done lots of things on TL, especially Lorning i had to go up against in all three groupstages (which is ridiculous btw, these groups are so f***ing rigged...), and it was not like this was a clear decision as both of us won sometimes.
You participated in the previous season of TLCMAT. How does it feel to participate in it again this season? What did you tell yourself that you were going to do differently this time around than last time?
Well, i am certainly better known in the community this time around, so that makes it easier. Also i rallied for support with a couple TL veterans, which brought in some much needed votes.
What is your goal for this season? How badly do you want to win the championship?
Well, as it is with Liquipedia, as long as it is not perfect, i want to get better. And i certainly want to win more than KadaverBB, so screw him and get me the win ^^
Let’s have some fun with this one. Please use this opportunity to shit-talk your Ro8 opponent into oblivion!
Man, i can't do this. salle's desk is directly next to mine and if i say bad things he is going to come over and slap me. Also Liquipedia staff does not shit-talk about each other (you better don't prove me wrong salle), that is just not what we do. If you need me to shit-talk someone though, please stop rigging the groups Seeker, this s*** is ridiculous.
Why should people vote for you? What exactly makes you stand out among the rest?
I mean, obviously Liquipedia is the most superior staff group on TL, so whoever wins this between salle and me should clearly just be announced as winner of the tournament. Why should people vote me over salle though? Well, that's because salle just voices crazy ideas for Liquipedia, i am the one actually creating them.
Out of the players remaining in the playoffs, who do you consider to be the toughest opponent(s) that could hinder you from winning the whole thing? Why so?
KadaverBB won already, so he clearly has that going for him. Shiroiusagi is also pretty tough, because she does great graphics. The toughest of all would probably be salle though, it is hard to go against Liquipedia guys. If however you would ask me for the weakest quarterfinalist... ah i don't think you would be happy with that answer
Out of the players who did not make it to the playoffs, which one(s) surprised you the most by the fact that they got eliminated? How far did you think they were going to go?
I mean, the obvious answer to this is Nazgul. He rigged hiw way into group stage 2 by sacrificing Plexa, so you would have thought he would just continue rigging himself into further groups
Have you been posting in the propaganda thread? Have you kept your promises? How creative did you have to get to try to get those votes?
I only promised one thing and it was a combobet for me and another Liquipedia guy both coming out of groups. Since that did not happen, i didn't have to come through with it. My offer might not have been the most creative one (curating a "Top 5 funny things on Liquipedia"-list), but most other people would not have been able to do it.
BAH! Boring questions… Let’s dick around now. (These are different from last season's questions)
Imagine that instead of through TL’s online voting system, the winner could instead be determined by a "TL's Got Talent" contest. What would your talent be and how would you win this thing?
I would challenge people to a pizza eating and beer drinking contest and eat and drink until everyone else surrenders.
Weakling: Olli
Clever One: shiroiusagi
Leader: salle
A beloved family member has been kidnapped by a group of pirates. You need to pick two other TLCMAT quarter-finalists to go with you on this rescue mission. Who would you pick and why?
salle, because he is someone to rely on, and Shiroiusagi because she does the coolest graphics. Both of them together make a great bait whilst i go and rescue my family members :D
You have the ability to turn back time. At which point in your life would you turn back to so you can alter the past? What if altering the past meant you never got to participate in TLCMAT Season 3?
I would go back 8 years and not be as dumb as i was (only works if i keep my knowledge of what happened though, if i don't then this is pointless because i would do the same things without the knowledge), but i probably still would have ended up on TL eventually.
FINAL QUESTION! The Avengers from the Marvel universe call you up to be the new addition to the group. What is your superpower? How would you use this superpower to further your advantage during the TLCMAT Season 3 playoffs?
My superpower would be the ability of reading brains, and then i would use my new found knowledge about people to manipulate them to vote for me.
Hey, i am FO or FO-nTTaX. In the esports world, i mostly maintain Liquipedia. For a real life job, this would be the same. + Show Spoiler [Interview] +
First off, please introduce yourself to the TL community. (What do you do eSports wise and what do you do real world wise?) Please explain your ID as well. How did you come to choose it?
Hi I'm Erik 35 years old from Sweden (now living at the TLHQ in Utrecht, Netherlands) and I'm the Head of Liquipedia which started as a hobby, turned into a part time job, and now a full time job.
My ID salle comes from my surname. When I started school (at age 7 in sweden) there were two of us with the name Erik and both of us had unusual surnames so instead of either of us being called Erik we were both called by our surnames, mine got changed a bit but by like grade 3 it was salle. So when I started going online back in 93-94 and used IRC, ICQ, and other online communities that existed even back then, my ID would be salle since that was my nickname. With friends and family I've lost this nickname but online it's still what I use.
In order to participate in the TLCMAT, you had to be nominated in. How did you feel when members of the community nominated you in so that you could take part in this season’s TLCMAT? Were you surprised at how quickly or slowly you were nominated in?
This is my third time in the TLCMAT and I actually didn't even know it was going on until you (Seeker) PMed me saying I was in this year too. I did go through the thread though to see who had nominated me and stuff I do think it happened pretty late in the process, but it's always nice when your friends nominate you for theese things, especially with kind words.
Out of the Ro48, Ro24, and the Ro12, which match/matches did you anticipate was/were going to be the most difficult? How come? What was your strategy to defeat that/those opponent(s)?
Strategy? I promised to do some silly things and went on vacation.... So I didn't follow it too closely.
You participated in the previous season of TLCMAT. How does it feel to participate in it again this season? What did you tell yourself that you were going to do differently this time around than last time?
I have been part of all previous TLCMAT however having gone out in the first group stage in both previous tournaments I didn't really hold any high hopes for this one either. I think the only thing I did different was not trying to self promote that much. I think both this and last years I tried more to promote my friends that is the people I work with on liquipedia with to let more people know what they do, since I do think LP contributors are slightly invisible except for the little coin stack in the corner.
What is your goal for this season? How badly do you want to win the championship?
I don't have any goals for this contest, sure it's always nice to be recognized by your peeers but just having gotten this far makes me feel good about the whole thing... Albeit it does mean I do have to make that FO and Pizza blog I promised.... and if I win it'll be a R1CH and cats photo blog too. =/ stupid promises.
Let’s have some fun with this one. Please use this opportunity to shit-talk your Ro8 opponent into oblivion!
Although weird and quirky I really like Alex even though we often argue about stuff it's not something we get upset over.
Why should people vote for you? What exactly makes you stand out among the rest?
I don't know, I've been part of Liquipedia for years, was in before the sc2 boom for liquipedia really hit a lot of innovations in those "early days" I was part of, but vote for Alex if you want, he deserves it just much as me with all the work he has put into the project too. I think Liquipedia is a huge part of this community, and I thought back when I was a noob that it was an easy way to give back to this community that was giving me so much free entertainment, I guess I'm sort of the figurehead of the wiki in some ways and thus I do think a vote for either me (or if I lose, Alex) is a vote for the wiki project and it's contributors as a whole.
Out of the players remaining in the playoffs, who do you consider to be the toughest opponent(s) that could hinder you from winning the whole thing? Why so?
That people keep voting for Seeker is really confusing, especially after the Group L debacle which Plexa resigned from because he wanted the other people in the group to be recognized, since he's on hiatus for the time being. But I guess the one I think is my toughest opponent is probably FO because of how entagled we both are with liquipedia but him also having his fingers in like all the pots across TL and blogging and all of that means he's the more active community memeber of the two of us.
Out of the players who did not make it to the playoffs, which one(s) surprised you the most by the fact that they got eliminated? How far did you think they were going to go?
I think Plexa might have won the tournament after he banned Seeker (and rightly so), but then he dropped out... So that was unexpected.
Have you been posting in the propaganda thread? Have you kept your promises? How creative did you have to get to try to get those votes?
I did make 3 promises. Food blog, FO and Pizza photo blog, and R1CH and Cats blog. I just got back from vacation so I haven't had time to do the food blog but that should be coming soon. The FO and Pizza blog will take a while since we obviously need to order pizza.... I might order one for him today even, to get that started.
BAH! Boring questions… Let’s dick around now. (These are different from last season's questions)
Imagine that instead of through TL’s online voting system, the winner could instead be determined by a "TL's Got Talent" contest. What would your talent be and how would you win this thing?
I don't have any party trick or "talent" as such, besides I hate standing on stage.
Seeker I think would be the first to die, by either panicking or being too brave. None of us is intelligent and powerful though, hmmm I guess if he was at full strength probably Kadaver, he's very tenacious. I don't know if anyone is a natural leader of the people remaining, so maybe me.
A beloved family member has been kidnapped by a group of pirates. You need to pick two other TLCMAT quarter-finalists to go with you on this rescue mission. Who would you pick and why?
shiro, cause she can draw nice doodles and we can together cook some awesome food to impress the pirates with. And Kadaver because he has experience talking to people who threatens him.
You have the ability to turn back time. At which point in your life would you turn back to so you can alter the past? What if altering the past meant you never got to participate in TLCMAT Season 3?
Hmmm that's a hard question. There are a lot of things I regret doing and not doing but I don't think I'd want to unmake any of those mistakes, they've made me who I am, if I undid/redid something I'd become someone else...
FINAL QUESTION! The Avengers from the Marvel universe call you up to be the new addition to the group. What is your superpower? How would you use this superpower to further your advantage during the TLCMAT Season 3 playoffs?
My superpower would be forced empathy and able to remind people of their own flaws to make people better at seeing themselves in other peoples shoes, to reduce all the hate and ignorance, we have in our world, and help people forgive those who have hurt them. Besides me being part of the freaking Avengers(!!!), I don't think anything with this superpower would help me in this contest.

BISUDAGGER IS YOUR 2016 TLCMAT SEASON 3 CHAMPION!!!
Congratulations on being the champion for TLCMAT Season 3! Let us proceed to the champion's interview, shall we?
You are the 2016 TLCMAT Season 3 champion. How did you feel when you received your congratulatory PM?
Honestly, it was rough. I received the pm the afternoon of 7/11/2016. That monday morning I had been working for an hour before I received a phone call from my step-mom. It was the one I had been dreading for two weeks. My father had finally passed away. I immediately left work and traveled an hour south to my hometown of Gainesville and spent the day doing my best be there for my two half brothers. When I returned home, I resumed my routine of reading TL everyday and was notified I achieved first place. I couldn’t stop thinking to myself, I knew making it this far was a miracle in itself, but it couldn’t have come at a better time to cheer me up when one of the worst things you can experience in life occurs. So, thank you everyone for your love and support.
As the champion, you won a total of $500,000,000,000 eSports Dollars. What are you planning on doing with this money?
I’m going to use it to higher ESports lawyers that will put Shine in the ESports jail for life. It is imperative that he never return as a player to StarCraft 1. He’s ruined too many memories for everyone.
You had to face FO-nTTaX in the finals. How were you feeling? At any point, did you feel like you were going to lose?
I certainly felt like it would be closer than the last time I faced off against FO. I was feeling confident though because many BW fans reached out to me in support.
In the past two seasons, champions were staff members who had Men in Red status and they were people who were very active within TL's SC2 community. However, you are mostly known for your contributions to the BW community. How did you pull off this victory?
The Brood War community is small, but extremely strong. They are amongst the oldest members of TL and really appreciate what I do. The vote count wasn’t as high as the previous two years, so maybe SC2 fans were to distracted by all those blizzard feedback threads.
There's going to be a full year before the next season of TLCMAT takes place. As the champion, what are your future plans?
I was thinking that I may help/host the next TLCMAT. It’s our duty as champions (looking at you KBB) to give back even more than ever.
What was the most fun part about TLCMAT this season? What was the most boring part?
The best part was beating KBB. He has become the kindest, most gentlest nemesis ever. The most boring part was being sick too much to talk trash.
BAH! Boring questions… Let’s dick around now.
One day, you're kidnapped from home and taken to an abandoned factory in the middle of nowhere. You wake up to find yourself alone in a room with three doors that lead outside. You see a sign that says "Congrats TLCMAT champion! Now that you've stolen my victory from me, it's time to ruin your life!" (Yes, it was FO that did this to you)
The rules are simple: You have to choose a door and exit out of it no matter what. Once you've chosen, you can't change your choice. Choose correctly and you live. Choose incorrectly and you die.
Door 1 has a face of Bisu.
Door 2 has a face of Jaedong.
Door 3 has a face of Flash.
Which do you choose? Why?
I choose door “Flash”. If he truly is god, then he will kill me and bring me to my perfect heaven where I get to watch Bisu dominate zergs for an eternity. If I survive, then I guess that will be alright too.
Now that you're filthy rich, TL members (staff included) start showing up to your place at random times throughout the entire day begging for financial help. You don't want to deal with them because you're too busy getting ready to cast the next BW Starleague. What do you do to make sure those people NEVER bother you again?
Obviously I would put a bunch of IKEA furniture in my lawn. They would get so distracted and lost, they wouldn’t be able to make it to my door. Also, caster plug! I am casting the Afreeca Starleague, come watch and have fun!
You've received an all expense paid vacation trip to South Korea, personally funded by Bisu himself. He wants to meet with you and congratulate you in person for winning TLCMAT. He agrees to take you out on a romantic 1-on-1 date. What would the two of you end up doing from sun up to sun down?
Well, I would first invoke the Freebee clause with my wife and double seal it with different area codes in different countries clause. Hanging out with Bisu, at any moment a KPOP chick could throw herself at you and Hyuna is on my freebie in Korea list. I’m sure he could make that happen. Secondly, he wears his shirts with an extra loose button, so I’m liable to fling myself at Bisu also.
That being said, I’d have him call the SKT and KT players from Kespa days and join them for a day of festivities on the beach including beach soccer and a friendly bout of “Drown the KT zergs”.
You wake up from bed one night and you're hit with an incredibly bright light. When you regain consciousness, you've noticed that you've been sent to an alternate universe. In this universe, winning TLCMAT means you are actually the suckiest person on TL. So obviously, you have to try to lose and get eliminated first rather than make it through. What would you do/say to ensure your elimination?
I would create a match fixing scandal with the top Korean players. (Just saying that feels a little too dark).
Guess what? The prize for winning TLCMAT in the alternate universe was another bright light that would send you back to your original universe where you originally came from. In the previous question, you ensured your elimination. What do you do to try to get back into the tournament? Because surely whatever you did to ensure your elimination means that TL hates you now, you know?
I would uncover a plot lead by the jealous North Korean government that actually paid the South Korean justice system to frame top Starcraft pros and threatened those pro players families if anyone of them denied the match fixing claims. Savior and Life would return to glory and then lose 3 consecutive finals each to Bisu.
OBLIGATORY!!! Anything else you would like to say?
Let’s imagine that I’m hit with another beam of light and as champion in this alternate universe, I’m forced to swap the semifinalists heads with heads of pro players. Who would you swap their faces with?
Last but not least, I promised topless pro-gamer pictures if I won. Expect a blog post on this shortly.
