Welcome to Storm Mafia 3
Attention!
The Government is looking for civilian and military volunteers for an expedition into the unknown.
Yesterday an unidentified object, most likely a meteor, crashed into the desert just outside New Liquidia. The area has been closed to the public since the second storm incident two years ago, and it will remain closed. However it is of vital scientific importance that we inspect whatever it was that crashed into the desert.
Due to the proximity to the ruins of the two cities, only those who volunteer will be allowed to join the expedition. We are looking for scientists, doctors, explorers, soldiers and engineers alike. It is important that those who sign up understand that this expedition is going to be dangerous and trying.
Please, contact your local authorities for more information on how to volunteer for the great expedition.
All participants will receive thorough vetting and health inspections. By submitting your name for consideration you approve of a full governmental background check.

Rules
This game follows all the standard rules for a TL Mafia game, unless specified here. If you are not familiar with them, you probably should not be playing this game. I'll post the cheating list anyway:
Cheating: Cheating includes (but is not limited to)
1. Posting after death. You may have one polite goodbye post, but it may not contain any potentially game-changing information. 2. Ruining the game by doing something like hand out your mafia's member list to the town. 3. Logging on to someone else's account to get their role or looking over someone's shoulder to get their role. 4. Comparing role PM times to determine roles. 5. Posting screenshots of your inbox. 6. Posting or sharing any PM you receive from a host. 7. Getting yourself modkilled to help your team. Your non-majority-decided death may not be used as a bargaining chip. 8. Signing up more than once using smurf accounts. 9. Betting items outside of the game in exchange for in-game benefits. 10. Sharing accounts with other players unless cleared by the host in advance. Otherwise, only you may post on your account. 11. Breadcrumbing the specific phrasing of your role PM. Do not compare the phrasing in your role PM to prove your alignment. You can claim the abilities you have, but you can't use the specific phrasing of your role PM.
Palmar specific rules
- 1. Don't be a dick.
- 2. Play to win.
- 3. I will modkill you if you're a dick. Modkilling is completely at my discretion so don't try to skirt the rules, or get out on technicalities. If you're not sure you can do something, ask me before you do.
- 4. All questions should be PMd to the moderator. You are not allowed to say in thread you’re going to ask the moderator something, and you are not allowed to share your answer with the thread. If the question is a clarification all town needs to know, I will simply post an announcement in the thread.
Do not ask questions in the thread once the game has started (you can do it during sign-ups).
- 5. There are no activity requirements. Town is responsible for moderating itself by lynching or shooting undesirable activity levels. I will however punish pointless and boring spam, and I will request warnings (or bans, depending on severity) for inactivity or spamming after the game, if you are deemed to have been playing against your win condition.
Playing to win is a rule that can be broken. It's not just a guideline.
- 6. I do not replace people. Don't sign up unless you can play. If you have to drop out you will be dealt with by town and remain inactive. In extraordinary situations (emergencies), I might make an exception to this rule.
- 7. I modkill you if you edit your posts. No warnings.
- 8. Important: Do not post when you should not be posting, especially after the deadline. This includes popcorn.
Game Information
Voting:
- Voting will be done in the voting thread.
- No conditional voting
- Deadline plurality lynch. The player with the most votes at the deadline will be lynched.
PMs: No private communication in this game unless your role specifically allows it
Smurfs: Smurfs and hydras are not allowed
Modkills: Yes.
Time Cycle: The deadline will be at 22:00 GMT (+00:00). Votes cast after that exact time will not be counted.
The last hour of every night cannot be used to send in actions. The only exception is that mafia may redirect their nightkills (this is to counter last-minute claiming). So get your actions in an hour before dawn.
Thanks to everyone who puts in work to make TL Mafia as fun and lasting as it is. We argue because we care.

Game specific rules and notes:
The Setup
This is a closed normal setup. There are however variations of roles that can be considered non-normal. Thus you should treat this game as something of a borderline themed/normal. The distinction is somewhat hard to make, so just keep it in mind as you enter the game.
It has no explicit themes. It’s only the roles that make the game somewhat unusual. There may be more than 2 factions in the game.
This is a hard setup. It's not forgiving for any faction. Mistakes, disinterest and general incompetence can lead to a quick victory for either side. The game might even feel unbalanced if one side screws up too hard. The game has been balanced carefully, and will be re-evaluated a few times once we have the final player count.
This is a hard setup. I will be expecting everyone to play to their win condition and participate in the game as they best see fit.
Role information and claims
All role PMs share the same format:
Role Name Few sentences of fluff Few lines of role description Additional information (only a few roles have this) Win Condition Factional abilities (mafia only) Team information (mafia only)
Example:
Vanilla Town
You are an ordinary person dragged into an extraordinary situation. You need to be the voice of reason in town.
You have no abilities except the power to vote.
You win when all threats to town are eliminated.
What you’re allowed to claim:
- Your role name
- Your abilities, but be careful not to use any exact or similar wording to what is in the PM. I will be very strict on punishing people trying to game the system.
- Your actions
What you’re not allowed to claim:
- Your win condition
- Colors, format or exact text of the role PM
Notifications
You will not receive any information you don’t need. You will not know if you were roleblocked, saved, investigated, visited or whether or not any of your actions had their desired effects or not. You can ask, but if I did not send you any information, you probably shouldn’t receive any.
I will not compensate for ignorance. If you break these rules I will modkill you without warning. These should be clear enough

Because one instant majority lynch game wasn't enough.

Someone want to elaborate on why instant majority is bad? I know HTS has specifically complained several times about mislynches when us EU players are asleep but that just basically means you unvote and make sure enough people are unvoted if you think an EU player could get lynched before he/she wakes up. That's just being unfortunate/unlucky with timezones. But what actually makes the lynch mechanic bad?
edit: I mean the setup wouldn't deter me from playing but I remember reading a few complaints about IML, so...

for people like me that check the thread for a large portion of time once or twice instead of constantly this setup is cancer. I might be away for the thread for 15+ hours but i know i have 48 hours here to work with.
That doesnt exist in IML, game could be over before i even have a chance to type anything.

I love IML and to some extent I wish that we had more games that used it.
There are pros and cons, the players are more in control of when the day ends for example while there still being a hard deadline I believe in this case. Parts of it are scum favored like the no lynch if nobody cares.
There is also the situation where a lynch just gains momentum like the bm lynch in season of a witch and town just acts stupid. Its on the players though.
This setup is really difficult for town and mafia and relies on a fairly active town to even be in contention.
And I promise va I'll leave him alone d1. And yes vivax was ny first game you got me lynched d4 or d5 when you went 1 v 1. RIP the newbie damdred

Yea I genuinely felt bad for you, it was like leading a puppy eyed lamb to the slaughter. Rip damdred the bambi.
I like IML cause it rewards mafia if they play well and doesn't force them to be active for 48 h straight.

Yeah, and that is not a good thing. Theoretically you have to be active at all times because otherwise you can get screwed by bad teammates. And that happens all the time. If you are the only eu/us player on your team you are fucked because the lynch will most likely happen when you should be asleep or at work. It punishes bad townplay when bad townplay is everywhere without offering an advantage for town in return. It gives selfish people who just vote without thinking power.
I don't see the slightest advantage - it just sucks.
