The major drawback to this was that he didn't need detectors for stealth, but someone said that map hacks don't reveal cloaked units. If that is true, I would definitely have my friend play me with a map hack on for the learning experience, as opposed to sharing vision.
I dont know how applicable this is for practicing on a competitive level however. Also, I don't have an opinion on whether or not this was the case with localhost. The hack was open and active in a game for a tournament with a cash prize. If I was playing in a tournament and routinely used hack to train I wouldn't think "this is an important game so I'll leave the hack on but toggle it so I can't see his shit". I'd turn the hack off. Fact is, his hack was running in Ascension. That's as incriminating as it gets.

He seems like a nice guy and is smart to apologize and leave the team himself - however it still doesn't change anything that he was almost guaranteed hacking in some games, no one downloads Oblivion and turns it on to NOT use it. But maybe he can regain people's trust.

But still, is using mh to practice looked down upon? To me, it seems like a viable way to get better--actually work on timing.
The bottom line is, he COULD be telling the truth. It doesn't matter though, he's accepted the consequences of even HAVING a mh on his computer, and he's paid the price. He's been seemingly forthright and hasn't complained.
If others can come back from hack accusations, I'm sure, if he's legit and if he wants to, he can too.
My example was not to illustrate that people claim to have steroids only for practice but rather if you have steroids or hacks you USE THEM for things other than practice. He is 100% bullshitting that he dl'd a hack and used it strictly for practice games.

i dont see the logics that you would gain skill faster with maphack in training games than you would without the hack.
If this excuse is "accepted" then everyone would get away with it

He seems like a cool person, but he lost my respect as a player. Too bad. I think many hackers just don't need to hack.. but they do so anyway

I see how it can be useful for timing practice. "If I got his build and I scout him doing this with probe, so I know hes going this other thing...around blah pop or time his shit should start moving to me" or w/e, but yea....much better done by share vision in practice. MH = :-(

Localhost is scum. Doesn't matter if he apologized and quitted RoX team, he had oblivion hack downloaded and now is trying to buy back some reputation with some crappy excuses no one would believe. My respect goes to everyone who never used maphack and always played legit and losed tons of games without falling in the temptation of playing dirty. Whoever claims to have respect for this guy just from what he said in that post needs to get a new, good working brain. asap.

It's not the same thing. Localhost was found hacking in many games while Haypro only had one game vs Strelok where he 'forgot' to turn off the launcher. Every other game was clean.

He's a nice guy and a great player. But he is stupid if he thinks anyone buys that logic. And stupider if it is somehow true.
Actually, many athletes have short amounts of training in extreme hight (few 1000 meter above sea) so their body makes extra bloodcells. It's like natures own Dope.
Also athletes specialized in jumping (far and hight alike) sometime use trampolins in trainings. It lets them practice the movement in the air, without having to be able to get as much air as needed to perform the movement.
The same applies with maphack; you can practice your descision making without having to actual be able to know whats going on.
Getting hight = getting information movement in the air = making decisions.
I know many of the people here don't believe in breaking the game up in parts and practicing them seperatly, but I do. This is a way to achive that.

Ok well theres nothing saying that training in extreme elevations is against the rules
Maphacking in starcraft is clearly marked as against the rules in all major leagues and competitions
Big Difference, your and idiot
