Hello TL !
It's my TL-birthday, I - finally - reached 1k posts ! + Show Spoiler +To be honest, I thought it'd take me less long, but I ended up joining a clan very soon after I joined TL, so I mostly chat about sc2 with my clan now. Anyway, I'd like to thank the LR regulars (you know who you are) for all the LR-threads (which are a God send when you're working and can't watch the games) for all their #Passion.
Now that this is done, I'd like to use this post to highlight some older but great TL articles that I stumbled upon. I think lots of people probably haven't read them, which is a shame considering how well those articles are written/researched. That also makes me wish we had more in-depth articles like those on TL.
So, without further ado, here's my list of classic TL articles that you should all read :
- This is one of the first TL articles I read (which is weird considering I discovered TL after sc2 release and have never played nor watched BW), and to me, it is the best TL has ever had the chance of having. Ver's two part analysis of Savior's play has it all and for me, it is the example of what all TL posts should strive for: great writing, in-depth analysis, several infographics so it's not a wall of text, lots of replays, sources, references, etc. You can find part 1 here and part 2 there.
- As I fanboy, I can't not mention FlaSh's biography. While not as good-looking as Ver's articles, it's still a great read in order to understand why a hype train departs as soon as FlaSh wins a game, and why he's considered God to some (like me).
- There's also this series of articles about iloveoov. You can find the first one here, the second here and the third one over there. I like how it goes into Oov's mindset, and shows how his approach of the game allowed him to take the game further than anyone before.
- Regarding quality writing and perfect sourcing, I'll mention Ver and TheDwf's articles regarding sc2 balance as well, although their content might be a bit more... controversial. You can find Lings of Liberty here and ZParcraft II here.
- The classic XvX guides that I think everyone should have bookmarked for easy access: TvT 101, Modern TvZ, The American Way of TvZ, From the Shadows (PvP), PvZ, and of course, none other than The Great Book (of protoss bullshit). Some of those articles are obsolete, but that doesn't change the fact that they are well written, have in-depth analysis, are well sourced, etc...
I'm sure I'm missing lots of other great articles, this list is only what I found/saw (without even particularly looking). So don't hesitate to suggest other great threads in the comments (Nada's Body for example :p )
Anyway, thanks TL for the ride, looking forward to the next 1000 posts ! <3

According to your profile, your TL birthday already passed in June!
Congrats on your milestone though

grats on 1K ! Now on to adding an additional 0 to your post count, right? d:

God of the battlefield is the single best thing i have ever read on TL. Ver is GOD for writing that. I never was around to watch Saviour's dominant play, but i'd like to dream of the past.
I see Ver also wrote The Greatest Genius about iloveoov so there you go. Spending all that time and effort thinking and analyzing about Brood War, he should have an award. Thanks for giving these articles some spotlight. They were a part of the Final Edits found here http://www.teamliquid.net/tlfe/ for anyone interested in reading in-depth articles from the BW past. Congrats on you milestone 1k posts. I am merely a longtime lurker myself
So have you still never watched BW?

That's the new goal yeah ! But seeing how long it took me to get to 1k, I'm not sure I'll ever reach 10k. But that won't stop me from trying ;-)

I've watched a few BW streams, but really not much. But I like the BW history, getting to know who shaped the game, how they did it, etc. Thanks for the link regarding the final edits, I'll check if there are hidden gems that I haven't read yet !

God of the battlefield is amazing, but there are a lot of other Final Edits that are amazing, too!
"Only until midnight" is an article that actually brings tears to your eyes, as is the article, "Piano Man" about HOT Forever. And I also love another one about CJ that talks about the CJ face, CJ fans, and the culture of the team (I thought this was a final edit but i can't seem to find it...)

Only Until Midnight is beautiful i agree. Probably the best hype article for a quarterfinal matchup of all time (Nal_ra vs Xellos). A beautiful homage to the players that dominated between 2001-2005. I love how his worrying prediction on JulyZerg proved wrong one year later when he actually got his Golden Mouse. But it was strange to me why HonestTea decided to overlook Xellos himself in that article. I started watching in 2008 so i wasn't around, but i thought Xellos was something of a legend in his own right, right? Not of Nal_ra's caliber but still..
I remembered reading about the CJ face too (-_-). Maybe it was the one written for their section in the Tribal Colours article also found in the Final Edits?

Haven't read "Only Until Midnight". I'll make sure to correct that overlook quickly !
