It was good as in fun. It wasn't that competitive I'd say about 6/10 overall.
My friends decided to win as many events as we could. At first they had console games too and we would've wiped the board clean but had some trouble. I guess I can post the whole thing here as I'm done with classes today, thanks for the interest inc!
They had wc3, sc, cs 1.6, cs:source, quake, dota, some other strange fps game I couldn't figure out.
I played in sc, cs:source, cs1.6, dota. I could've played in wc3 but the times for the events overlapped.
Our team placed 1st in source, 2nd in 1.6, and 3rd in dota. I placed 2nd in broodwar.
The funny thing is I had zero expectations to place at broodwar. I literally hadn't touched broodwar for over a year [ although still coming to TLnet of course ] I played maybe 5-7 ICCUP games to practice 2 days before the lan. I basically ripped through everyone up until the playoffs through pure build order execution. Once I got to the semi-finals I was a bit worried but I still didn't know at this point I was at semis. It was just another game to me.
I rolled this guy again with pure build order about 6 minutes in. Every single one of my bw games was under 15 minutes but every single one was extended by at least 2-3 minutes because the faggot kids there who had no idea how to play would just float Terran buildings to odd corners of the map. Also rules were you decided the map between yourselves, and I kinda knew there would be newbs so I always let them choose the map.
The finals was bo3 and when my friends and I first got to the lan there were like 5 korean kids in a corner watching MSL live finals through stream and I thought to myself ' probably some good kids here ' I'm korean too, so I just pointed a thumbs up to them with a nod recognizing the fact they were watching a live stream of finals. This is why I didn't expect to go far in the bw tourney.
Since it was bo3 and he watched my last semi-final game from behind me I decided to switch up races from Protoss to Zerg. Turns out he plays protoss. We actually decided on Luna, and not some gay map like challenger or obscure 5man island map like my matches before (--v)
I was pretty confident in my lurker/ling +1carapace contain so I did that.... of course I don't follow progaming anymore after Boxer ' quit ' so I had no idea about Bisu style play with FE and sair/dt.
The only time I experienced this before was reps of Nal_rA on LT going fast nex. I actually took down his gateway with lurker sniping so I thought I was ahead and double expanded. Of course that was a huge mistake since I didn't think that all he needed the gateway for was the tech tree to corsair. He came with 3 sairs and raped all my ovies and I had to switch to hydras and game ended pretty fast after.
The second game I kinda just gave up and played a shitty PvP that ended in goon/reaver wars. I was really tired at this point since it was the 2nd to last event and probably 3:00AM and I still had dota to play.
He got a ktec mouse and I got razor krait which I was EXTREMELY happy with. Ktec would've been nice I have great mice already.
For winning source, all 5 of us got razer diamondbacks, for 2nd in 1.6 we got cd holding binders.
Dota was such a debacle, since my teammates and I were SO confident we could win. We rolled all the teams and got to the semi-finals. It was a NINETY minute game. Well into 5am in the morning and the lan started at 8PM the day before. We placed third because we ended up on their side of the bracket. In comparison, the finals game lasted 30 minutes. We definitely would've placed 2nd if we were on the other side of the bracket. We probably could've taken first as well but our actual dota roster wasn't our most competitive. Our team at the lan was 1-2 casual players and only 3 competitive players who didn't play that well that day.
At the end of the dota game as I was putting up my keyboard the guy who ran the event came to me and said I was the overall winner for placing highest in the most events. Thus the prizes... That was a long time ago and I thought he forgot about it but finally I got an email.
There's another lan coming this ' winter ' and I'm excited to go to this one too. As gay as it might sound that I win prizes cuz I actually play the games semi-competitively and most people there are newbs, it's still nice and fun to play with friends. Especially team games like cs and dota.
I promised the korean kid in the bw finals I would practice next time because I thought to myself if I played this guy in my ' prime ' it would've been a lot closer. It was a breath of fresh air because he spoke little English but was very humble about winning and shook my hand everything. All my other bw opponents were bm non-mannered faggots.

Anyway, in order to win again this time[ which I definitely want to because I gave the monitor to my cousin as a birthday gift ] I need to prepare differently.
This time, we don't have a soild 4 for cs1.6, cs:source, dota. We used a ringer in those games and still did really well, but this time we only have 3 core friends including myself.
Here are the games they had last time:
cs1.6
cs:source
unreal 2004
starcraft 2v2 and 1v1
warcraft 1v1
dota
But here's the kicker, they have console games this time. In order to win the overall prize you have to place highest in the most events. Last time I placed 1st in source, 2nd in 1.6, 3rd in dota, and second in starcraft.
Here's where I need your help. Because console games, which will likely be brawl and some other fps consoles that I blow at, I need help in specific games.
Starcraft: I'm definitely not a newb here, but I quit playing seriously waaaaay back. I understand most terms but I'm not up to date on modern things, I'd say slightly before the savior era. Maps should not be that much of an issue, last time players got to decide maps and the only serious one we really played was Luna.
I played toss and I still have around 250apm but I'm no means a pro. What are some strats I should run to succeed? I got 2nd by pure build order execution alone. I am also able to play zerg, which I did in the finals bo3 but lost because I have no idea what to do after the initial lurker/ling contain.
Also 2v2 general tips would help. What races are imbalanced [was it ZZ?]
Warcraft 3: I'm planning to play this, if time permits because last time it overlapped with cs:source. I'm not a complete newb, but if you can help me you should start from the very beginning. I play undead and night elf, I completely don't understand the other races. I've gotten around 50 ladder wins for icons to play dota tda and I play mainly undead with the usual cryptfiends and destroyers.
If you guys could help me with some strats and build orders specifically, maybe some unit combos that would help me ALOT.
I think with at least a 2nd placing in starcraft and warcraft I should be set because its almost guaranteed we will place 1st in source and at least top 3 in cs1.6
I guess I could place in brawl as well since it's a new game and I was not terrible at melee.
Thanks for reading and any help you can provide.
