As I already said: I really like the way typing felt on the newest Razer BlackWidow
The newer blackwidows don't use cherry switches, they use cheaper variants

They can be absolutely fine and as good, however, I have heard that you can get keyboards where the keys will be noticeable different from one another, so I think consistency is the main problem with those knockoffs.

The blues I tested seemed to work a bit to easy, i.e. you didn't need as much power to use them as I would like. After reading a bit I noticed that brown switches are the same as blue switches but they only require more power when being pressed. Is this true? I'm afraid that I don't get the same nice feeling using blues when I get a keyboard with brown switches.

Market share has probably increased, and the relative price with them.

I never really thought much about mechanical keyboards (always thought they were too expensive and not worth it) but I don't think I can ever go back. My only problem is how smudgy and dirty it gets. Anyone have recommendations on how to clean it? I'm mostly concerned with dust under the keys (I guess I could use compressed air, but worried about it going further in) and dirt/gunk buildup on the keycaps and other parts

However keys have different profiles depending on where on the board they are. So if you mix and match you may get height / angle differences. Could be possible that the outer most ring of keys could rub on the case maybe?

If they're not making any more, that could explain the price increase. I think they replaced it with QFR-i I could be very wrong.

I was looking to buy a cheap usb light to see my keyboard at night, and suddenly went OMG YOLO! So, in the end, I'm just looking for a new keyboard with backlighting. As of today I have an old razer blackwidow form 2012 (blue switch), and I must say I like it. Location: France Any keyboards you currently have in mind: I don't really have anything in mind atm. Price:up to 150€ Backlighting: Yes, that's the purpose of the purchase Size: Any? I have a full blackwidow, and i'm fine with its size. Use (games/ programming/ typing etc): RTS/FPS/MOBA and typing USB/ PS2: USB if possible KRO: I guess NKRO is overkill? Macro keys (yes/ no): not necessary Media keys (yes/ no): not necessary Layout (US/ ANSI, etc): French! Switch type: I like my blue ones so far. I don't want anything "softer" I guess. I'd try to find a store were to try other switches. One quick question: does the switch feeling remain exactly the same whatever the keyboard brand? (assuming switch from same manufacturer) On top of that, I'd love if the keyboard is also a USB hub. Thanks for the help, as I am a bit lost so far. ♥

https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/2ofvmx/in_search_of_purple_keycaps/ I've seen many threads but thats the one that shows how hard the search seems to be. Just want purple with white text. A black and purple combo would work. It's like every color so far is some kinda light purple instead of deep royal. Blue or brown switches are fine. I guess a backlit keyboard could do it? The one that makes custom colors? Any ideas? Thanks.

It feels so crap, inconsistent feeling over the whole board. Never buy a keyboard with these crap switches. NEVER EVER! What keyboard and what color switches please? I've actually heard very good things about GreeTech switches. I've only looked into browns but I heard from a very reliable source though they are about ~10-15 grams heavier to actuate than MX browns, but they feel much more tactile. No complaints whatsoever about inconsistency or anything like that. I'd say if you are looking at off brand switches though Gaterons seem to be the way to go, in particular if you are looking at linear switches. I'm unfortunately slacking on these and haven't tried them in a keyboard just yet, (I have them just looking for a TKL plate at a reasonable price) but from everything I've heard and from trying them in a tester they are better than linear MX. They not only have more weight options 35g up to a whacky 170g or something, but are unanimously said to be much smoother than MX.
