The friendly setting, the jokes you won't ear anywhere else but between acquaintance, etc. It really feels like a LAN with friends and it's the roots of a multiplayer game. When I'm listening to the casting I'm expecting to ear things that I won''t ear in a Proleague / GSL casting... And it's too bad that I can only enjoy it twice a year. The bigger, regular tourneys are suffocating to watch compared to HSC. Since it's their ninth tourney I'm guessing it's commercially viable ?

I remember an interview of Take, where he claimed to spend a lot of his money (or that of his company) on Homestory Cups, so I doubt that it is economically viable. As to why there are not more of these tournaments, I think you pretty much answered this yourself. Homestory Cup is incredibly unique and incredibly awesome. Therefore any other tournament that is remotely similar will always have to exist with the stain of having copied HSC's success formula and it will have to live up to the comparison with HSC, which is a losing battle, in my opinion. Take and his crew had a stroke of genius when they came up with this idea. What we need is not more people copying it, but new ideas to make the scene more interesting.

Hmm, why would Take repeat something considered as a success if it's not economically viable? I mean, if it's not working out as a profit for him it's basically charity for esports?

So its okay for him if HSC alone isnt profitable, when you secure sponsors that way that fund your daily content. I didnt watch the M-House cup from millenium but i've heard it seems to go for a similar approach with good atmosphere but its a bit smaller and not as successful. Didnt somebody try something similar in Canada once? I cant really remember. HSC started really small and was lucky enough to take off. I think a lot of attempts just dont get as popular.

Oh well then even if technically it isn't profitable it's actually profitable since he gets sponsors.
