Where’s your Fighting Spirit?
Is acceptance the only stage remain?
If the end is inevitable, why are you still here?
The StarCraft community was pioneers, Esports innovators. Streaming? High production tournament web broadcasts? BarCraft? We did that. This defeatist attitude is sickness. This is not the community I knew.
Fuck it, if death is so inevitable, let’s welcome it. At least give it a proper send off. We all spend a good part of a decade with this game, this scene, this community. Its funeral deserves a at least proper eulogy.
Let's send it off on a high note.
Aim:
200 BarCraft for LOTV Launch
LOTV will eventually drop, and Blizzard's marketing muscle will probably give us one (last?) good show to go with it. But if the ROTS launch was any indication, Blizzard alone can't work miracles.
To save StarCraft, we need BarCraft, and reviving BarCraft is infinitely easier to do. Build it, and they will come. Our collective history has shown that to be true.
Imagine a hundred, hundred launch parties around the world celebrating our Great Game:
"LOTV Launch Party: Every City Near You"
Imagine the media buzz that will generate; imagine of all the forgotten friends we can welcome back; imagine how impressive that would sound to the Activision-Blizzard board.
LOTV launch party at 200 BarCrafts can happen. It is possible. It has happened before. But doing so will require everyone - Blizzard, industry, the community - on the same page. We need to put in work; we need time; and we also need a little luck.
And maybe, just maybe, it might be the little miracle this game needs right now.
If not, at least it'll be one hell of close off to this chapter of our shared lives.
Sound the horns, alert the Men. It's time for one last hurrah.
