I haven't played a MOBA yet, can anyone give some insight as to why 5v5 seems to be so much more popular? Seems to me that 3v3 would make for much better communication and a tighter strategic frame.

Also, how does creep and tower aggro work? Are they similar to DotA?

And hitting creeps is actually kind of important. getting early tower damage and running the towers out of ammo ends up mattering a decent amount, and since you're not going for last hits, the only disadvantage is being slightly more exposed when you're in XP range. You also want to be able to collect the health globes, which will be much easier/safer if you're pushing your lane forward.

I'll compare Heroes to my favorite SC2 custom map: Star Strikers. They're both team games where you control a single hero unit with 4 or so abilities. I enjoy, and still enjoy playing Star Strikers than I do Heroes. In Star Strikers, every movement you make, every ability you use requires finesse. When you use an ability well, you know it and get a good feeling. I'm sure there's a deeper level of finesse to using skills in Heroes, but for most of the heroes, it doesn't feel that way. It feels like you use your ability whenever you can as fast as possible, "spamming". Blizzard did a good job with making the average game shorter, but the ratio of fun/time you get is significantly less compared with Dota or even LoL. In my opinion, Star Strikers is a much more fun game and Blizzard should've made a new IP out of that instead of hopping on the "MOBA" bandwagon. I really really like Star Strikers and feel like it had the potential to become the next hit for user mods, after CS and Dota.

Those games are fun | ||

Sorry didn't see this for ages. Just to see if there are similarities between heroes and sc2 in terms of how the engine runs, because i and some other have massive issues with some problems in the sc2 engine that can be easily seen from such data and if it extended to heroes as well, i'd probably try hard to get blizzards attention to their "RTS" engine because it's a massive deal and would make both games better for everyone partially detailed here: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/tech-support/447990-solid-data-on-sc2-microstutter - and seeing some footage of the game worried me some about them copy/pasting "bad" parts of the engine or doing the same thing twice

Also, how does creep and tower aggro work? Are they similar to DotA? Killing them? Not particularly. Some heroes (Diablo, Kerrigan, Barb) have benefits that accrue from killing stuff and doing damage. But your team doesn't get lane XP if you don't have a hero near the dying creeps, so being near them is often a good thing. Also, depending on the heroes, it can help to keep the enemy away from your towers.

The second: those would be the hero levels. It means that player's Arthas is level 4, while the other player's Malfurion is level 2, etc.
