Mr Kernes used to be a leading supporter of the former president Viktor Yanukovych.
In fact, Mr Yanukovych was due to speak at a rally in Kharkiv on the weekend he fled to Russia.
Gennady Kernes has published several photographs of himself posing Vladimir Putin-style Mr Kernes himself disappeared to Russia for a time, but returned to Kharkiv, saying he no longer backed the ousted president.
All of that personal and political history marks Mr Kernes out as a survivor, one who might know which way the wind is blowing.
So, did this Russian-speaking mayor of Ukraine's biggest Russian-speaking city want Moscow to send troops across the border?
"Russian is my first language," he said, "but I support an undivided Ukraine. I am a mayor of a border city but we will never yield to intimidation.
"We will never make any decision that could undermine Ukrainian statehood."

Trade with Russia is 10% of total EU trade, 300 billion in net worth, with the balance quite strongly in Russia's favour. Stopping that will push both countries into recessions the likes of which neither can recover from soon. But as the EU economy is 6x larger, and Russia it's only its third largest partner (while the EU is Russia's largest partner), Russia will be hit much harder. Russia would lose 10% of its gdp the second trade stops, and then chaos erupts... But no sane person will consider such drastic sanctions. They will be targeted to hurt the wealthiest in Russia, and even Russia's counter-sanctions are nothing but another siphoning of foreign assets into select oligarch hands which is something that has been occurring frequently recently, and is also rather targeted (think BP investments in Kamchatka).
Not 100% sure but i think i hear an impact before the tracer is visible.
tracer was light BEFORE hit the column with lamp.
Because it hit something before hitting that lamp. You do see how slow it flies, right? If it is a bullet, judging by the direction and the googlemap, it might have hit the streetsign/poster thing on the other side of the road beforehand. Not to mention that the direction it was flying was wrong, the tracer went nowhere near the stuff they were shooting at.
usually i would think maybe or even probably could be a ricochet, but if you check the video the guy with the shield and the guy running hit in the knee is most likely hit from north north-east, the same direction it is coming from.
the guy hit in the knee is hit running down in the cone of the shield guy.
the tracer is coming from approx area where the shots that took down shield guy and knee guy looks like they were coming from. i think it's maybe coming in a bit low? but hard to say and that shield guy was hit tops half a meter above the ground way lower than that thing.
You might need a broader picture.
The red one is the Cabinet of Ministers. It was quite far away but there were reports it had some snipers. The following is a picture of presumably snipers walking by the Cabinet of Ministers
The yellow one is the building that is called the Club of the Cabinet of Ministers. Numerous witness reports state snipers were there.

With the spirit of honesty, the tricky thing is hidden in the middle:
Second, Ukraine needs to draft a democratic constitution that has guarantees for Ukraine's Russian-speaking population that would grant official status to the Russian language and establish the principle of federalism. ... If these democratic and peaceful solutions to the crisis in Ukraine are rejected by the opposition forces that have seized power in Kiev, I am afraid that Russia will have no other choice but to revert to military means. If the junta leaders want to avoid war, they need to adopt Moscow's peaceful and democratic proposals and adhere to them. ... just four years remain until Russia's presidential election in 2018, and there is a strong risk that subversive forces within and outside Russia will try to overthrow Putin, in part using their new foothold in Ukraine

To be fair: would you go?

So that's where zeos "junta-stuff" came from i suppose.

Thank you, I was wondering if just threatening of cutting the trade was enough to stop Russian invasion, but looks like it would be to much for EU to handle too.

Maybe she could add some UN and OSCE tags to seal her fate..

The EU would drown as quick, if not quicker, as russia. The EU is the biggest trading partner of russia, and 75% of what we buy from them is energy. That should give you an idea of what will happen if trades suddenly stopped.
Not that it would ever happen.

Or a russian-presscard. With a medkit that has english instructions.

The yellow building is kind of the right direction, but not really. The shot hitting the 12:24 guy seems to be hit a bit more from the left, across the street. Maybe i'm misjudging it though.

-edit- or rather, it really doean't look like the shield guy was hit from there. you can't even properly see that place from the road next to where he was shot, and he was sitting behind a tree with cover almost perpendicular to that building. maybe possible from the northern most side of it, but it looks way more like the western or north eastern direction.
he was shot from the west or the north east. definately not south east.
it seems like something bounced or flew from the shield and hit the tree as you can see smoke kinda coming from it. hard to tell if it was from front(north east) or back (westish). kinda looks like the hole bulges inwards to me, which would make it north east, but really hard to tell.
also note how low he is hit, like max a meter over the ground.
