the rules regarding the Masters match are not really 100% clear if they need to mix their teams or not
|
Well no Prime , WTF??!? I kinda understand why they didnt let Prime play , I think its mainly because they are weak and teams beating Prime would just get free points you know .
But on the other hand I cannot imagine a League with 7 teams ... its just not right , couldnt they get like Alienware or whovere to play in the place of 8th team...

The prize money is much lower than Champions.also it isn't related to world finals. They probably won't take it seriously. Maybe more unusual picks. Shyvana vs Mundo is so boring

I don't think so. Koreans are pretty big on the integrity of their leagues, and seeing as this is sort of seen as the proleague of LoL I can see the sponsors wanting their teams to take it very seriously. For the most part, Korean sponsors don't really gain anything from a top placing at world's. While its nice and looks good, they'd probably prefer domestic dominance.
I guess Prime isn't participating because they only have one team, but I feel like they could've gotten a team together for the purpose of this league. Maybe it wasn't worth financially..

On Twitter, there's clamor that the format is just going to end up being AvA, BvB, and AvA 3rd match. How likely do you think team will field a team that isn't the A team for the 3rd match?

if there's no rule set against it, i see it being pretty likely to happen, especially later on in the season when seeding is on the line. maybe early on they'll do some fun teams for the fans, but at the end of the day winning is everything. maybe in the case of like KT, if the rumors are true about KaKAO, we could see KaKAO playing with the bullets line-up or something like that. also, if teams go with a lot of mixed teams for the 3rd set, that will only hurt their team and players in the long run..
i guess something to consider is A and B aren't set right? so i'm sure there will be some line-up mindgaming to try to get favorable match-ups and stuff.

I wrote in twitter before, the coaches feel that it would be a good opportunity to see different team builds and possibilities. They also realize that the fans would want to see different line ups so I think they will utilize mixing as they can.

Thanks guys.
I personally prefer the tryhard method. I don't wouldn't mind if it was AvA 3rd match every time. Mixed lineup can seem novel and exciting but the lack of practice doesn't convince me the games would be top quality.

does this tournament replace the OGN champions?

I was skeptical of this at first as I thought last year's Club Masters was kind of gimmicky, but I'm getting pretty excited now. There's a few things I'm wondering though:
1. I'm assuming that there is only one match per day, as six guaranteed games is a large block of time to get through (no-one who went to Yongsan on the Thursday would be able to stay and get the subway home!) That would explain why they came up with the odd points system; to justify a third game even after a 2:0. But... 2. ...negative points for a loss, is that correct? That seems a little absurd to me. I guess it ultimately doesn't matter, but it just seems to over-complicate things. 3. If this finishes in June, will there be an OGN Spring? When did last year's spring season start? 4. How will Allstar games work? Will they arbitrarily divide the teams into 'conferences' or something?
Anyway, it should be fun. I could see a few of the teams like Samsung and Najin pulling out interesting player combinations for the 'Masters' games. Might try to get along to a Sunday game or two; hopefully this won't be as rabidly popular as Champions and I'll be able to snag a seat without having to wake up at 5 am.

So OGN Spring will presumably be on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights... and this tournament will be on Thursdays and Sundays... I'm not sure my wife will tolerate me watching LoL for five consecutive days every week!

negative points dont have much influence.
The only difference they make is that a matches against the teams that fight for the same placements are more important. maybe, im not sure i just woke up.

MonteCristo said yesterday on MachinimaVS that it would be 2 Bo3 per day. As for the Allstar game they can take any player from both teams and form a new one to play the third match.
