Seems like it would be a pain in the ass to spend a big chunk of your time and resources to establish yourself in india, indonesia and china only to have other countries park a couple hundred light ships in the western europe node and undo your work. I suppose conquering/colonizing the ivory coast and sending trade through timbuktu/safi/tunisia would be an option, but that sounds silly. Well, at least you don't have to spend light ships to defend sevilla any more, and I suppose you'll be getting a share of everyone else's american colonies by parking yourself in the western europe node How does Seville being an End-note affect anything if you are iberian yourself? You can sed the trade there and no one can try to forward it anywhere. That is a good thing for Portugal or Spain, you just have to control the iberian peninsula and you are set for the spice trade. If you have india and the ivory coast, all your stuff directly goes to sevilla and you can cash it there. What am i missing?

Sure, it was also possible to do in 1.3.2 (in the Dutch case, you'd have to park two trade fleets at Sevilla + Bordeaux though), however its a lot more favorable to do now. In 1.3.2 it used to be fine to collect in Chespeake as one of the Sevilla nations (just run Brazil -> Ivory Coast -> Carribean -> Chespeake) but I don't know how viable that is now, as I'm pretty sure the Carribean exit nodes changed.

- Can disallow allies to attach armies to yours. - Observer mode. - Better tag management. - Support independence diplomatic option. - Quite a few modding improvements (there are much more needed, but it is a step in the correct direction).

But there are a few bugs and unbalances that needs to be fixed before I would give it a 10/10.

Hotfix: 1.4.1 and more So, the time has come for the first update which is a hotfix adressing some of the early problems. The priority with hotfixes are generally that they are a) Important and b)Simple fixes. If they fail b) we cant really push them out without serious testing otherwise we will just end up breaking more than we fix. However, work continues on even greater changes and we have decided to do with EU4 what we allready do with CK2 and thats use open betas. These will be experimental and you have to opt in to use them, just be warned there might be serious problems that we havent seen yet so use at your own risk. The first Open beta will be versioin 1.4.1.1 that will be made available later today. The plan is that the team will continue working on updating and changing Conquest of Paradise and in roughly two weeks we should roll out a 1.5 patch. Patchotes 1.4.1: ---------------- - Fixed incompability issues with map, causing crashes with 1.3 saves. - Fixed bug where ironman saves where broken on tag change - Now possible to enforce peace if your colony declares war on others - Migration only moves the migrating nations units - Fixed crash in province view if the province being watched migrates - Native american AI can no longer build non native buildings - Natives americans no longer get alerts that they cant build buildings that they cant Build - No longer possible to get achievments in observemode by selecting a country - Fixed a bug where AI would have the wrong attitude set towards its vassals, resulting in them not diploannexing them On January 20 2014 10:29 Anesthetic wrote: Would TL be intrested in starting a Multiplayer game on the weekend by any chance? - War of the Roses fires within the first year. This actually ends up sort of hurting me as the pretender rebels killed half my army during my first invasion of England LOL. Still got two provinces out of it. -Then this happens which I definitely did not deserve: I attack 14k into 21k + river crossing, somehow win due to rolling 8s in the first two shock phases, then stackwipe them (all 11k!) in London. Manage to take 4 provinces off that. Would have had that and $$$ + Wales release if France wasn't a big bitch and separate peaced out for Normandy, fuck those guys

I've been playing Civ5 for a while now and was looking for something "similar". Would you guys recommend it to a Europa Universalis complete newbie? How's the overall learning curve? You can play and have fun without knowing anything. You will lose a lot of battles, make the wrong choices and so on but as long as you picked a large nation you should be able to last the entire game in a reduced state. To try to for world conquest as a one province nation you need around 10 games played however far is fun for you and reading a bit about the game. You will fail, but probably end up a major power.

Picked up during the winter sale. Its not that hard accually, i feel the interface is very easy to understand and gives good direction on what to do etc. Ive played around 100hrs so far and i depend less and less on the boxes and stuff that pops up as i now know more about what im doing. for every game i start i feel i grasp what i should do and avoid more. quill18 did an excellent little 3? part tutorial with the basics. i would defenitly recommend it if you like strategy games. its a bit diffrent from civ but i feel its more rewarding to play.
