I took a day off school/work and decided to see what was up on teamliquid. Doesn't seem like much, sadly to say. I also watched a bunch of old videos I used to watch. I remember always coming home from school (when I was in high school), watching youtube videos of StarCraft, and then playing until 1 am or 2 am. Especially in the summer, I'd sit up all night on USWest in the Korean channels and wait to see if I could catch a glimpse of pros in their respective clan channels (n.die, 397, etc).
I wept... like some grandmother, after watching these videos. It brought back so many memories! My God I miss this game.
EDIT: By the way, I played this game starting when I was 8 years old. I am now 23.
And one of my favourite games of all time: IntoTheRainBOw vs. savior[gm] @ Super Fight IV
IntoTheRainBOw (I guess he goes by HopeTorture now?) puts on a good show versus savior in his prime.

Wut
TL Is more active than ever, in BW, SC2, and Dota2, plus Hearthstone and all sorts of other games in the Sports & games section.
You seem like a BW fan, check out SOSPA, Sonic is running a league filled with old BW pros who have retired from SC2/progaming. He's getting ready to start a Proleague with the retired pros all representing their old teams.
Team Liquid is running TLS, the Legacy Starleague which is the foreigner equivalent of said league.
If you think all of what is going on is "not much", I don't know what you are looking for, haha.

You use this argument to show that you're oldschool and therefore your opinion is worth more. You want people to tell you the [insert old game title] world would be better if you pick it up again, but you won't, that's why you add the "miss [insert old game title]". To underline your point you link random VODs and hope for a 5/5 from people who still play [insert old game title].

Never really post here, don't care about my rating or whether or not my opinion means anything to you. Was looking for other OGs to reminisce with, homie.

OGs don't reminisce....its hard to reminisce when you are still playing/watching today today =P!

I miss the pro leagues as well, especially the individual leagues. Not gonna pretend SOSPA is even remotely the same lol. Not just the level of play, but the personal investment of the players too. Nor is the feeling of the community really the same, since we don't see fanart or discussion about players or anything like that. There are definitely people working hard bringing news about SOSPA and doing write ups about upcoming evens, but you don't see people doing their own one offs much anymore.
On the upside, there's as many FPVODs of ex-pros as you can handle, including Bisu ;p There's enough people hanging on that it could potentially gain structure again. Then again, it could just be the twilight before all the old players get too old and there's nothing but utterly casual play anymore.
Time will tell. Watch SOSPA, see if you like it. Biggest problem with it right now is that after a year it's still being uploaded in the wrong aspect ratio for no good reason.
One other grievance I have is with how foreign content is being delivered now. I used to like watching foreign players semis and finals and such like that, when I could just load up the replay and watch it at a comfortable speed and look at what I wanted. For some reason people seem to think we watch to watch VODs on x1 speed of someone not that informative whose attention is split between trying to control the camera and trying to talk and both take a pretty big hit. Some people like it, but it's not my cup of tea at all. If I'm going to watch a reduced level of play from the pros, I'm probably also gonna want to speed it up.

I don't think that will happen sadly. From the looks of it, StarCraft pro gaming is kind of dying in general, or transforming into a more international e-sport (which never works out). I'm not sure what the future holds for StarCraft. I think it has a lot to do with how lacklustre StarCraft 2 is and Blizzard's ironfist over the entire pro scene.
@Chef I feel the same way, but despite OSL / MSL / Proleague not happening, do you really consider what is going on "not much?"
The fact that people still stream/play BW tournaments at all is pretty incredible compared to how absolutely dead it was the following year of SC2s release.

I think you missed his point. Also new stuff are not even close to what used to be BW in term of production etc... when it was kespa. Sure it's good to see that bw continues to live on but yeah... Sospa is not as good as kespa events were. You can't blame them, they not the same amount of time/money.
But really that was harsh for no reason.
To OP. It happens. Sometimes i rewatch all the videos that i have saved on my HDD. I find new games hard to watch because i watched to much SC2 and i'm used to the obs interface.
But for some reason i don't have any problems with that when watching boxer block a marine between his floated barracks and a mineral line
Why is everyone acting so spoiled? I agree; the Brood War we once had was great. But you can't expect to get that back without showing that you still love the game. Watch it, post about it in the forums, make these fanart or whatever. The community is what people make it, if people aren't actively participating nothing will ever change. The game never did.

He made no point. He linked random VODs. He said not much is going on. It's the same bullshit like SC2 is dying. "BW is dead". This blog has no real content, besides "I once liked Brood War, here have some clips". Great, you're on a former BW only page, what do you expect.
