IntoTheRainBOw - Kim Sung Jae - 김성제 Race: Protoss Birthdate: 08/02/1984 Current Team: SK Telecom T1 Former Team(s): Ideal Space (I.S), Orion Nickname(s): Miss Sung Jae, Rainbow Protoss, Technical Protoss Trademark: Mastery of the Reaver Favorite Unit: Reaver Photo + Show Spoiler +Achievements 4th KCK Jeju International - 1st Place SKY Proleague 2005 - 1st Place (SKT1) Sky Proleague 2006 - 2nd Place (SKT1) 2006 Korea E-Sports Award for Best Display of Talent & Skill Bio
It seems that the reaver, when conjured up by Protoss users, only listens to Kim Sung Jae perfectly. He is its true owner. - OGN Commentator Rainbow's style is totally unique. You can tell he's not great at killing pushes or doing really good against large terran armies in general, but man his shuttle control is amazing. Constant reaver drops, storm drops, dts drops with lethal timing and precision. It can pretty much be compared to Boxer-TvZ-like harrassment. - PoP "Even if you know it's coming, you can't protect yourself from his reavers."
There is no one in progaming who has influenced the scene more without winning a single major title in his career than Kim Sung Jae. Sung Jae and his reavers have left an irreversible mark on the progaming scene is a protoss legend to the fullest extent of the phrase. Sung Jae started out in the progaming world as the protégé of veteran Im Sung Choon (IntoTheRain). In many ways, his time as understudy had a large influence on the unique style of his own gameplay. Sung Choon's fabled spell usage and wizardry of the protoss race is still seen today in Sung Jae's very own spell usage in particular the use of storm.
Sung Jae was signed to Ideal Space, which boasted the incredible lineup of Lim Yo Hwan (Boxer), Lee Yoon Yeol (NaDa), Hong Jin Ho (YellOw) and Kim Hyun Jin (kOs) among others. Sung Jae would participate in many leagues but find little success in his time in IS. Towards the end of the year the condition in IS deteriorated rapidly resulting in the departure of Yo Hwan. Sung Jae also tried to get out of the environment, and but to contractual difficulties things remained very uncertain for his playing career. Yo Hwan's new team (Orion) managed to settle disputes with IS and was handpicked by Yo Hwan for the team, assuming the role of premiere protoss. This was despite claims by Yo Hwan's father that Sung Jae was a bad practice partner.
Sung Jae's distinctive style was very much in the fore front during this time. Notable in his 2nd challenge league matches (2002 3rd OnGameNet Challenge league). But could only manage a win against Kim Jeong Min (TheMarine) in ODT falling one step short of qualification. Sung Jae also put on an impressive showing at WCG Korea 2003 only losing to eventual representative Kim Hwan Joong (Rage).
Sung Jae was gaining momentum, and even qualified for the NHN Hangame OSL. His skill was undeniable and this was clearly evident in his game against Cha Jae Wook (Cloud) where he mind controlled an SCV and proceeded to build tanks to defeat him. But the defining moment of his career was the 4th KBK Jeju (2003). With stats 6-1 and defeating starcraft greats such as Lim Yo Hwan (Boxer), Kim Jeong Min (TheMarine) and Lee Jae Hoon (fOru), he won the tournament. Using his micro oriented style, with tons of flare and reavers, he became a fan favorite and was loved by all.
Once he defeated Seo Ji Hoon (XellOs) after his win in Jeju island, he looked to become one of the great protoss's like his predecessor Im Sung Choon (IntoTheRain). He went 2-1 in the group stages of NHN Hangame OSL including a notable victory over Lee Yoon Yeol (Nada) and looked to be on fire. However, he was denied entry into the round of 8 in the tiebreak round - losing 0-2. Sung Jae followed up his starleague performance by qualifying for Gillete OSL In the group stages he once again beat Lee Yoon Yeol (Nada) but went 1-2 overall.
Sung Jae was not one to take failure as the end of the world, and powered ahead and preformed amazingly in the Tuscon MBCGame Teamleague even preforming a all-kill of Soul. With KT-KTF looming around the corner, Sung Jae received an invite for his performances and crowd entertaining control. Despite going 3-8, he showed some skillful games and solidified his position as master of the reaver.
Sung Jae remained quiet for the first half of 2005, but in the second half he qualified for both Cyon MSL and Shinhan 2005 OSL. In both tournaments he showed that his micro-oriented style could keep up with the wave of macro players that had flooded the scene. In a famous game against Lee Byung Min (Goodfriend) on R-Point in Cyon MSL he demonstrated 'victory by a thousand punches' using pure reaver harassment to win. Sung Jae's run in Cyon MSL was stopped after defeating Byung Min (2-1) and Ji hoon (2-0) (XellOs) by Park Jung Suk (Reach) losing 1-2.. In Shinhan 2005 he lost once again in a tiebreak to once again miss out on the round of 8.
In 2006, Sung Jae made the wildcard round of the Shinhan 1 OSL where once again he lost; and was again denied entry into the round of 8. In 2006 he was awarded the award for best display of talent and skill by KeSPA. Since then, he has had mixed results but manages to win when it counts the most like against Kim Taek Yong (Bisu) in the 2006 Proleague final.
Sung Jae's style over the years had remained constant and always impressive and in the words of Kim Dong Soo (GARIMTO)
Unlike most Protoss users that use the firm Protoss characteristics of strength and power, IntoTheRainbow skillfully dances around his opponents, taunting them with clever movements just outside their reach. Unlike most Protoss users that develop the traditional macro-oriented style, Rainbow is unusually highly developed in agitating the enemy with micro-intensive skills. - Kim Dong Soo
For such a remarkable player with a career which has impacted the the starcraft scene so much, it is only fair to give the last word to Sung Jae himself on the subject of his playstyle;
It's not just the reaver. I have fun with all expensive high-tech units; I save money that way. When I use guerilla-attacks for a long time, my units just keep piling up. I guess I've become accustomed to controlling the game using high-tech units. - Kim Sung Jae

Chalrenge - Lee Seung Hoon - 이승훈 Race: Protoss Birthdate: ??/??/19?? Current Team: OnGameNet Sparkyz Former Team(s): KOR Nickname(s): N/A Trademark: Cool Ceremonies Photo + Show Spoiler +Achievements 2nd KeSPA Cup - 2nd Place (KHAN All-kill) Bio After earning a formidable online reputation in his guild, n.Die_, Lee Seung Hoon was signed to KOR after the 2006 draft after impressing coaches in trials with current members. The investment would pay off, and despite losing his first proleague match, formed a strong 2v2 combination with Ju Jin Chul (Side_LeGenD). Together they would be the crux of the OGN 2v2 effort.
Seung Hoon first made his name on the scene in a rather embarrassing way. In in OGN/KTF proleague match in season 2 of 2006, Seung Hoon accidentally used the 'to-all' chat command and typed '아놔 씨발', which translates to 'Ah Fuck!' (screenshot here). This was appropriate for his team, as they were getting destroyed by Park Jung Suk (Reach) and his partner Lim Jae Duk (Zergbong). However, for the viewing audience it was not appropriate, and the team was fined and docked a point in proleague.
Seung Hoon was dissatisfied with his position as 2v2 player and vowed to make it big in the 1v1 stage. He practiced hard, and at one stage won no games for three days straight. However, with pure determination became one of OGN's strongest 1v1 players. His first chance to show off his new found skills was at the 2nd KeSPA cup; where he proceeded to all kill an impressive Samsung KHAN lineup (Song Byung Goo, Byun Eun Jong and Park Sung Jun - Stork, JJu and Zergman). This earned him many fans in both Korea and Teamliquid.net. He then proceeded to advance from the 11st MBC Movies Survivor to qualify for GOM TV 2 MSL.
In Season 1 of Proleague 2007 he took center stage for OGN, demonstrate countless ceremonies. All of which were highly entertaining. Some say that he inspired the wave of ceremonies to erupt from almost all progamers in 2007. Nevertheless, with his new found strength and unmistakable agressive style in combination with his shameless ceremonies he quickly became a fan favorite. He has met more controversy in his playing career, like the time he forced a draw on Nemesis against Ahn Gi Hyo (Nal_Rock) when he was clearly in an inferior position.
Despite not doing too well in GOM TV 2 MSL and having no other major league results, he is on the verge of becoming an extremely successful protoss user reminiscent of teammate Jun Tae Gyu (Zeus) who also had very flamboyant ceremonies.

Junitoss - Moon Jun Hee - 문준희 Race: Protoss Birthdate: 29/07/1985 Current Team: MBCGame Hero Former Team(s): Pirates of Space (P.O.S) Nickname(s): N/A Achievements SKY Proleague 2006 - 1st Place (MBCGame Hero) 2nd KeSPA Cup - 1st Place (MBCGame Hero) Bio Moon Jun Hee is a longtime member of Pirates of Space, now known as MBCGame Hero and was signed at the time of formation. Boasting a proud and formidable online record, much was expected of this young gamer;With an amazing record of 0/10 for 2002 Junitoss is failing to live up to his online reputation Sadly, he just couldn't cope under the ever watchful eye of the T.V. Camera.
In his FighterForum career interview, Jun Hee talked about his shyness and how he gets embarrassed and nervous very easily. Thus the moment he was put on T.V he struggled immensely. Some people compared him to V-Gundam;
junitoss is like v-gundam he sucks in fron of auidence --; he can never be a real progamer.. -bizkit It has always been an uphill struggle for this player.
In the offline qualification tournament for the challenge league. Jun Hee became one of the most hated men alive when he denied none other than Seo Ji Soo (Tossgirl) from entering the Challenge league. And of course, he went on to lose in the Challenge league adding to everyone's fury.
After a 12 game losing streak to open his career, he finally won a game against Na Gyung Bo (Junior). Jun Hee would preform well under his online skill and post inconsistent results throughout his career, however he did manage to beat American Progamer Assem. His self-proclaimed most memorable game would be played against Park Myung Soo (Yellow[arnc]) in the loser's match in the 2004 proleague. However important to him, the game was glossed over by essentially all.
Jun Hee's claim to fame would occur in 2005 in the final match in his ODT group against none other than Lim Yo Hwan (Boxer) on Forte. Due to the design of forte, the mains are very small in addition to this it was one of the first times Yo Hwan had played a televised game on this map. While playing the game Yo Hwan typed "Main is too small T_T" and Jun Hee nerves broke. He scouted every possible place for a proxy, his entire game fell to pieces and Yo Hwan stomped him like a USEast pubbie. In response to this, KeSPA created a rule which banned all speaking to all players unless it was an act of surrender or to pause the game.
Jun Hee would also prove to be a wildcard player for MBCGame Hero. In the 2006 season 1 proleague finals against SKT1, Jun Hee was used on the map (Old) Peaks of Baekdu (incredibly imbalanced PvZ) against Park Tae Min (Gorush). Despite expected a Terran player, he demonstrated one of the greatest games of his career using a 1base Goon-Reaver build to almost topple the great master of the swarm. Since then, people everywhere have become wary of Jun Hee's sniper potential.
Because Jun Hee is a first rate online player, he is an invaluable practice partner. He is often cited by teammates as a excellent practice partner and thanked very much. So despite his career winrate of 15.15%, he is a well respected member of MBCGame Hero and in his own special little way, has impacted the scene forever.

ID: GoRush, [STAR]GoRuSh Name: Park Tae Min Race: Zerg Nickname: Magician of Management (Result of Management Zerg and Wizard of Operations) Teams: Suma Greatest Ones (GO), SKTelecomT1 (current)
GoRush is one cool dinosaur. A witness to the growth of the StarCraft professional scene in South Korea, GoRush seized the gold medal at the World Cyber Games Challenge in 2000 (the forerunner to today’s World Cyber Games) by outplaying fellow zerg I_Love.Star (probably the forerunner to YellOw as he also placed second in two KBKs) and top non-korean NTT (forerunner to every non-korean – I’m looking at you Elky, Fisheye, Androide etc. - that has managed to beat a Korean in WCG only to lose to the gold medalist). With an automatic berth into WCG 2001, GoRush still took the bronze to a Boxer - Yellow finals.
It was then that GoRush realized the need for proper schooling and took a break from pro-gaming to continue his studies. After the two years needed to finish High School he returned to his passion in 2003. Joining the GO team he gained renown for his high level of game strategy understanding and hardworking practice ethic. Taking the crown for strongest ZvZ he killed zerg greats such as Jju 3-0 (to win Challenge League), Chojja (former ZvZ all-star), Junior (in the 1st KPGA Teamleague finals), and YellOw (in the Neowiz Pmang Proleague finals to help Suma GO win the championship). Riding into the NHN Hangame OSL as the OGN Challenge League champion he attained a record of 11 consecutive wins, breaking Boxer’s record of 10. Although he would lose to Silent_Control’s famed cheese to be knocked out of NHN he definitely had made his presence felt.
As 2004 arrived so did GoRush’s heightened ZvP skills. While he was barely knocked out in the first rounds of both Gilette OSL and EVER 1 OSL he was still able to make it back into the next ones in part due to his stellar ZvP. For 11 months he went undefeated ZvP before losing to Nal_Ra in an intense match on the KT-KTF Premiere League. Throughout all of 2004 that was his only ZvP loss. It wasn’t until the second half of 2004 however that his ZvT ascended to the next level to match his legendary ZvZ and now seemingly unstoppable ZvP. Entering IOPS OSL, You are the Golf King MSL, and the second KT-KTF Premiere League he worked with rival JulyZerg to usher in an era of zerg power. As the only truly top tier zergs since YellOw, July would be the first Zerg to win a Starleague (Gilette) and GoRush would be the first Zerg to win the MSL by defeating a very-much-in-shape NaDa 4-2 (yes, a bo7 marathon). At the same time he placed third in IOPS OSL losing a very close 2-3 series to NaDa; establishing himself as one of the best ZvTers. Meanwhile, JulyZerg and GoRush were ripping up the KT-KTF premiere league to inevitably meet in the finals where GoRush’s ZvZ failed him as he fell 2-3 to JulyZerg (previously suspected of having weak ZvZ), forever placing July above GoRush in the eyes of spectators.
This was the zenith of GoRush’s play, placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in three major leagues at the same time. At his prime it was as if he had no weak match ups (nearly undefeated ZvP, near-impossible ZvZ streaks, and being the only zerg who could stand up to NaDa in a series) and was all over the scene. His play was defined as being the master of game management (a skill that Koreans prize as one of the three pillars with macro and micro) being able to control the flow of an entire match, always with the right units in the right positions. In many ways he set the stones for sAviOr to dominate with an advanced management style in 2005 and 2006. GoRush’s ownage in this period also convinced SK Telecom T1 to recruit him and his teammate Midas[gm] (this was when SKT1 and KTF were the only sponsors with money and were able to buy skilled players from homegrown teams like Suma GO). He became a critical component of SK Telecom T1’s reign over the 2005 Proleague and still hung around for a bit in individual leagues placing 4th in the EVER 2k5 OSL.
Eventually losing to a 4pool from Chojja in OSL and another 4pool from Oversky in MSL to get knocked out of the next leagues GoRush started the dreaded slump. 2006 featured a small resurgence as he appeared in all three of the Shinhan Bank OSLs for that season being eliminated by ZergMaN, Anytime, and Much, and advancing at least to the top 16 each time. 2007 has given GoRush fan’s a taste of his brilliance once again by his impressive streak through the GOM TV MSL (winning 2-0 in the dual section by beating sAviOr’s terran with a sicknasty queen infest strategy, 2-0 over prodigy terran Sea[Shield], and 3-0 over JulyZerg before falling 1-3 to finalist and previous champion Bisu[Shield]).
2007 also brought GoRush an interesting teammate in the form of JulyZerg who was released by MBC Hero as “too expensive”. This is only the latest in a number of teammates that GoRush has had time to learn from and share with which includes XellOs, sAviOr (as IPXZerg), and Nal_Ra from Suma GO as well as his SKT1 associates such as Boxer, iloveoov, Kingdom, Midas, and now July.
