Not much walking being done today, its pouring down. My original plan was spending some time by the pool, it just changed into watching transformers somewhere and visit a bar later. Anyone knows Memphis? Any good places to go, both for music and new pretty friends?
We just drove from Alberquerque to Memphis in one setting. Thats more than 1000 miles, 20 hours of driving, three and a half state crossed and a lot of missing sleep. I won't claim to miss Vegas, because I don't. Vegas is a remarkably pretty & shiny picture with drunk tourists trying to better their boring lives, tossing their quarters around while drinking overpriced beer and hitting on strangers in elevators.
I loved Vegas for the amazing fakeness of the whole place, the shinyness, the millions of underpaid mexicans constantly cleaning every inch of the city to maintain the image of luxury they give regular people for a day or two. They even have 1-cent slots, so everybody can play! I'm never coming back
So, so far things are going nicely. Americans are really nice people, I've yet to meet someone rude. SF being my favorite place so far, visited the warped tour there. Alcatraz was awesome. The emo kids were nowhere - are they a dying breed? Thats good news!
Now me out

Oh wow, Memphis - so much cool stuff to see.
Get down to Beale Street asap, lots of history there if you're into music. You can spend a whole day there quite easily. You need to see landmarks like Sun Records and the old Stax studio.
Memphis is pretty much my favorite city I've been to in the US.

They probably don't have anything going on there but the pyramid is a really sweet building too. There is one restaurant, althought I can't remember the name, I went to and everyone signed their name on the walls and shot large tooth picks into the ceilings. The food wasn't that bad either.
