whether or not it's a japanese style animation, it's sure to appeal to people who already watch anime.

Obviously the first one was designed to catch attention, so it used very stylised design aspects. Its just like a movie trailer; a good trailer can make a film look completely different to how it actually is (see, Cabin In The Woods). Surely it would be better to form an opinion on the character design based upon how they're actually portrayed in the show? I thought it was great, and I don't tend to like anime usually, so obviously that's the Monty and Miles factor showing there! xD To those saying its too video-game like, all I can say is... its Rooster Teeth. Their entire company is based upon making videos about/in games. Of course there's going to be video-game influences. I dont agree with you on the your definition of trailer. This was also not just any ordinary trailer, it was a "character" trailer of Red and was suppose to show us what she is like. Definition of trailer is "Advertise (a movie or program) in advance by broadcasting excerpts or details." A trailer is suppose to advertise to us what something is to incite us to watch it. The fact that this was a character trailer, it was suppose to give us a rough description of Red design and nothing of the story. If you dont agree with me that is fine too but how do you begin to explain Yellow and her trailer? Her personality and design fits her perfectly. The way she is dress/design/art, her personality and voice fit her exactly how the trailer portrayed her. Even her song was a fast paced house song which fit her speed, confident, almost cocky, and her aggressive fighting style with her fist. The way she walked into the club and talked to the waiter and everything shows her personality. Although it might be too early to tell, I would think that her trailer will display exactly how she is in the next episode and it will also be true for all the other character. Like I said, I liked the episode but it is only her design that seems out of place with her overall personality and her voice. To give better description of how I feel is if Yellow turn out to be a very quiet, reserved, shy girl. This would contradict her overall design and her trailer to her character. This is how I felt about Red.

This is how I felt about Red. I think the point of the trailers was to each highlight how the show is going to be. For example the first trailer highlighted art style and animation and the other trailers highlighted the storytelling style and music and various other components without actually giving anything away. As for first episode my only real problem is that they have not given me anything to grab onto yet to keep me watching. They have not given me a reason to stop watching so I will probably give it a few more episodes but other then look and style I need something of substance to grab onto.

So you're saying that trailers aren't supposed to be representative of the end product? First impressions are extremely important, and the Red trailer portrayed a character that is almost unambiguously at the opposite end of the spectrum compared to the one in the actual show. That's not to say Ruby is a bad character, but you cannot possibly argue that she was not misportrayed in the trailer. A bitter disappointment regardless. The action was pretty good, if somewhat inconsistent. This new huntress character, that you would presume is far more potent a fighter than Ruby, judging from her excited reaction, couldn't even damage that aircraft, her magic felt like the proverbial pea shooter. Also, I don't understand how the thugs that Ruby fights in the store get knocked out by a single strike of that massive scythe, and yet don't really bleed or show any other sign of significant physical trauma? I hope they don't go for the "combat but no blood or guts" approach because that would be massively disappointing for a show whose crux is supposedly the actual fighting. I mean it made sense in the trailers, monsters could be magical and just fade away into ash or something of the sort, but humans work a bit differently. ^^ Anyway, that's my nitpicking. I'm not quite sure how I feel about this, it has pretty big potential but so far that seems a bit unfulfilled and unpolished. I'm still hopeful though. Not as hyped, but still hopeful and interested.

You don't do so well with the concept of suspension of disbelief do you?

Another possibility aside from the trailer of Ruby being to show off the art style and animation was that that Ruby is the Ruby further into the series and something causes a drastic personality shift.

That could be very interesting and in fact this possibility is one of the reasons that I'm still hoping for this to turn out to be good.

She didn't say anything. She was just sitting at someone's (probably her parents?) grave and then killed a bunch of werewolves. I mean, even bubbly people can have sad pasts. In fact, a lot of bubbly people are bubbly because of their sad pasts and their attempts to move beyond it. I just don't know how you could have gotten this detailed impression of her personality when she didn't do or say anything other than fight some monsters with a huge fucking scythe.
