A study song in D minor
Who am i you might ask?
that is none of your beeswax, however i will tell you the reason why i am here:
What can i say about Broodwar. when i was a teenager i played it, with the campaign and a bit with friends. then in 2008 i think if i "recall" correctly i was watching someone play on a youtube video, and came across a video of moletrap commentating Pro League. so i dwl the game again (eventually i bought it) and started watching regularly Pro league. At the beginning i was Amazed that it was possible that something like Pro-league existed. If it did, that meant that Broodwar was the most balanced game in history from the time when chess rules became what they are today (one could say it was an expantion of the original chess 1.0) . Btw did you know that in the medievil times the Queen was the weakest piece and it moved only 1 square diagonally like the bishop?) . Makes you think even about how was the social status of some of the women back then. Anyway back to the original point: BROODWAR.
How about some Bass/gongs/tuba/Xylophone?
How could something like a video game become a national (e)sport at the time? this is truly amazing i thought to myself. I' ve never been a good player of BW myself. Unlike chess and poker, where i always played more, in Broodwar i spent a lot of time watching rather than playing, wheter it be FPVIEW, VODs, commentating in English, Korean, Russian, Chinese, German or simply with terran music w/e .
One word: Nerves. Every time i play i get highly emotional and don' t follow my game plan and get carried away. I have to admit there where times where i played 15 games a day, and then i had things more under control. Mine is a lack of effort. It all depends on what your goal is. If your goal is to be top class super pro player, most probably one will fail.
Its unrealistic. One should set goals that are realistic and plausable. In that sense i have reached my goal in Broodwar. I am able to play the game on a inferior level to most here, but i can challange similar to me skilled opponents. Thats when its most fun. When your playing someone on your same level. Those are the best games i played. for Funzies, here is my sim cities:
+ Show Spoiler [sim city is fun!] +
This is called No'ni' s theme. It is a song i made that i dedicated to my grandmother.
No'ni' s Theme
This brings me to my theory of why Koreans are the best in the world. They practice more than Others. Simple. Practice makes perfect ring a bell? ringa-ding-dong??
I don' t pretend to understand Korean culture. Actually i have meet very few Koreans in my life, and i havn' t particulary focused on Korean History. I do know a coupe of things. The language takes its vocabulary mostly from Chinese and some from Japanese. Its distinct, from the other too, as most people that watch Broodwar can see. It kind of reminds me of the similarity between French and Italian, both very similar languages. And Japanese would be English i guess.
As far as geography, i understand that Korea is somewhat similar to Italy. It has not so very high mountains (more like hills) , very few valleys and flat ground, and is a peninsula surrounded by 3/4 of Se.(terrans are everywhere) The layout of the ground is related to the martial art of Taekwondo, which is successfully spread in my country as well. Unlike many other martial arts, Taekwondo relies mostly on footstrikes, which is a result of the fact that the land is not flat, allowing an early development of the muscles in the legs.
Broodwar is Broodwar
My love for this game never dwendled. It will always have a special place in my hearth. Except for zerg, i am going to eradicate it. I recognize the right of zerg to exist, but not in my area.
The way vultures can lay mines around other units. The way scvs mine. Recalls into mines. The way the way the way. my favorite type of matchup is TvP. The battles are somewhat like standing armies facing each other. Dat terran technology and Dat Protoss telepathy. The dynamics of this engagement are purely beautiful.
I used to play tennis. There is somewhat artful in watching Flash do his thing like Federer doing his thing. Oh but i must mention my favorite player is Stork. Because of his consistancy and his team-work abilities. Also he is the king of Silver. And we love silver, don' t we
My favorite Foreigner is this awesome guy who unfortunatly stopped playing bw:
for those of you that don' t know him, Pro7ect has 2 extra arms he attaches to his bosy when he start playing. His apm is over 600 at times. His m&m control is very good. He is also very attentive towards details.
And now for a break from my music, hear something beautiful that you already know. After all, isn' t it a Wonderful life ?
black - wonderful life
I' d like to thank jrkirby, The_Templar, ImbaTosS and 0x64 , for their feedback they gave me a couple months aback
A dream i have woud be to see a Tournament featuring Broodwar, chess and poker. The ultimate triangle of perfection. The cornerstone of my strategic existance.
This song is called Alien' s children playground. Basically its an open playground where different alien children play and test different instruments. Thats the idea behind it:
part 1no drums
The Oboe is such a magnificent instrument. Even when played by a computer.
part 2 many drums
Right now i am taking a break from creating music with the computer and i am going to focus entirely on playing instruments. I play the guitar and am learning some French songs with the flute
Old sc documentary
+ Show Spoiler +
You probably have seen this already, but you should show this documentary to your grandmother to explain to her what was Broodwar:
This is a better love story than Twilight:
part 1
part 2
part 3
Awarness box + Show Spoiler +
Now for some awareness: what are they fishing deep down in the Ocean? a 15 minute interview
Finally, what better way to end this blog than this Awesome remake of Protoss soundtrack 3?
This blog is dedicated to all the TL Lurkers
