OGN Starchallenge 2007 - June 13 - Group C
Probably the Group of Death of this Starchallenge Season. TheMania and fOrGG, great upcoming Terrans, Rock, the Protoss version of MuMyung, wins all qualifiers but never wins in group stages and the God of War, JulyZerg, who has recently moved to the SK Telecom Headquarters. All of these games on paper will probably produce some good play from all players.
Game 1. TheManiaMST (T) vs JulyZerg (Z) @ Monty Hall
Game 2. Rock (P) vs fOrGG (T) @ Monty Hall
Winners Game: Game 1 Winner vs Game 2 Winner @ Hitchhiker
Losers Game: Game 1 Loser vs Game 2 Loser @ Fantasy
Final Game: Game 3 Loser vs Game 4 Winner @ Python
Winners of the Games in bold advance to the Dual Tournament
TheManiaMST (T, CJ Entus) vs JulyZerg (Z, SK Telecom T1)
@ Monty Hall
Being the horrible imbalance Monty Hall is with TvZ, at first glance, you can give Mania this game. But, he hasn't been playing much, only appearing on 2 TvT's in the Proleague (and losing them both). July is definitely in form recently, advancing from his MSL Group of Death 2-0 vs oov and Chalrenge, and taking the victory 2-1 vs rA. Thus, this can go either way, but, I'd give this one to July just by experience and his recent form.
Rock (P, Pantech EX) vs fOrGG (T, Lecaf OZ)
@ Monty Hall
Thankfull, Monty Hall is not imbalanced PvT. Rock recently has been only been playing 2v2's with Silver, with only 3 1v1's this year (1-0 PvT). fOrGG however, has been a surprise as of late, being the Terran Card in Proleagues for Lecaf, pulling out a winning record of 7-4 (1-1 TvP). I believe this one shall go to fOrGG based on past performances.
Most likely, this game will be JulyZerg vs fOrGG. fOrGG is 3-0 in Proleague vs Z, and that's no easy feat. But, with July's recent form, you can't simply just pass him down, especially on a map like Hitchhiker.
My predictions tell me this will end up to be TheMania vs Rock. With the extreme possibility of practicing up to 9 potential match ups on one game, this is a toss up. I am not sure what to say.
Whether fOrGG's possibly opponent is Rock or TheMania, I don't see fOrGG losing this game. fOrGG's games on Python have been alright, but neither TheMania or Rock have probably had the experience to play many games on it.
