I lived on Barbados for two years, nice place. Some of the best coral you'll see, good beaches, good atmosphere, there's decent surfing if you like that and one fricking insane golf course.
Worth at least checking out!

Plane tickets for 2, round trip, are $1900. I haven't looked into pricing beyond that very hard, but I feel like $5000 is a nice safe number.
To put that in perspective, you can save up $5000 in one year by putting $7 into a jar every day, or $49/week.
Or in biweekly paycheck terms, $98 every two weeks.

you`ll need 2 years to do that

i've never been there, just posting to correct the post above. and add some insight. he clearly said two tickets and a trip with his girlfriend, so i can only assume they are both doing the 7$ a day savings, which would make 5k in one year.
in my experience, it has been really hard to spend that kind of money on a vacation, while i agree that it is important and looks awesome. everytime i've been able to put that kind of money together, i don't want to drop it all in one place, maybe i'm really cheap, etc. i hope you can do this, but if you save that kind of money over 1 year, i can almost promise there is something else that you probably will feel like you "should" be buying, and it might be hard to drop that kinda money on something like this.
that being said, i really hope you guys can do it, it looks amazing.

And yeah, I did the calculation for one person. Assuming the trip will cost $5000 and I'm paying for both:
Monthly Savings needed: $420 Daily Savings Needed: $14
However, there are ways to mitigate both airfare and costs while there. Which would speed up the timeline. In particular, the Maltise gov't is authoritarian, and the head guy recently overinflated the crap out of their currency. So right now its at $1 = 15 ruffili. obv more research is required, but might indicate I could stay for much cheaper than I'm assuming with absolutely no information or negotiation
