So pretty much I have a question you guys think about guys dyeing their hair. Today I dyed my ex-girlfriend's hair(a red color), and it looked pretty sweet, and anyways...
So I'm wondering what you guys would think about dying their hair red. Maybe there's going to be a lot of "vey gay comments", I dunno, I'm talking red, not ginger, my hair is in a fohawk, and the red I mean is almost purple in tinge, like the one below:
My fohawk is a lot shorter (like one third of his length), and I look a lot more normal than him I think, I just want something more powerful I guess. My hair is currently a pretty dark brown(natural). If you have any other dyeing suggestions I'd appreciate it. I'm 19 by the way, more serious and mature I guess, a university student, I don't want to look like a meth head coming to a party when I enter a class. Thank you (:
My Fohawk is pretty much exactly this shape, the entire hair style is very similar, but for facial hair only go for a bit on the chin. Obviously I look younger and all.
This site has a normal looking red fohawk for example:

You are not a girl, therefore red hair will make you look like a meth head, but that is my take on it. Legit, guys can dye their hair and have it look great, but it tends to be that when guys dye their hair crazy colors it doesn't end well for formalities. I think it could totally work for you, and you should try it, but then again hair dye for guys is less popular where I live so I'm not as accustomed to seeing it as often. Take my advice with a grain of salt, but if you wouldn't want to walk near a family grave with the hair, don't get it. EDIT: after looking at the necro-ed social media website, yeah go for it, looks pretty sick dude.

Don't think I could take anyone with a red fohawk seriously.

I can't imagine a red faux hawk looking good on a guy, but if you decide to do it, please take a picture!

Fake red looks really bad on a guy in my opinion. Also the whiter you are the worse it will be so def do not do it if you are really pale.

thats more of a mohawk than faux hawk....

Why were you dyeing you're ex-girlfriend's hair?

Go blue or go homo.
Edit: lol I meant to write home, freudian slip

Imho, don't do it. The only reason you should ever dye your hair red is if you're dead sure that's what you want. If you're asking advice on boards, you're not dead sure. So don't do it.
Red hair is a lot like having huge spacers or facial piercings. Some people don the look to make a statement and to a very select group of people it will seem "so badass!!!11!" but most people will be turned off by it. A lot of (mostly older) people in society will look down on you.

12 yr olds will think you are either Scary or Awsome. Adults will think you're retarded.

I think some people here are saying "No." when they mean "Yes." Here's my interpretations of what everyone here has said thus far:
Saichiis: I think I could take anyone with a red fohawk seriously because they are awesome. Chairman Ray: I can imagine a red faux hawk looking good on a guy, and if you decide to do it, please take a picture! sob3k: Fake red looks really good on a guy in my opinion. CecilSunkure: Go red or go homo. larryselina: I like to dye hair, I don't like hair colored naturally. Hair dye causing huge win to your hair shizaep: lmao, do it. The only reason you shouldn't dye your hair red is if you're dead. If you're asking advice on boards, you're not dead. So do it.

A lot of old people will be super jelly. MaestroSC: 12 yr olds will think you are Scary Awsome. Adults will think you're resplendent.
So yeah, you need to do it right now. gOgO red hair

That red is not the slightest bit purple in tinge. The darker shades are dark red and maybe beetroot, or more likely, red onions, while both typically quite purple, can be more reddish (the onions much more likely). :D That's judging by the photo, mind you, so it might look a little different in real life.
I haven't read any other blogs of yours, so I say feel free to go for it so long as your occupation or any occupation you might want is not going to be made unobtainable or drastically harder to obtain based on the judgemental views that employers in the field might be likely to have. I would suggest (just in my taste at least) that if you're going to dye it, don't make too much of it just thick in one shade, like all light or all dark, if possible. Don't go for silly highlights either, because no one is going to think you just have natural highlights of lighter and darker shades in your obviously not naturally deep red hair, but make more of it, if you can, like the front of the side of the guy's hair, seeing as it blends together a bit better that way. That's even if you're mainly making it dark red/maroon or purplish red rather than say bright red and dark red like that guy up top.
Ah, the myspace guy's picture made it look properly blended, yeah.
