This video reminded me of how much more I used to look forward to Broodwar proleague. Thinking about Violet makes me cry every time, especially this video <3

But I distinctly remember watching PL that night and being so happy seeing Violet put up such a strong fight. Great video.

Btw could anyone link me to a video with the korean commentators/players/whatnot commentating on Violets passing away? Perhaps a korean highlights video, if one exists. Just want to see more footage now.

Violet was one of the few progamers who had actually reached out to us. We got to know him firsthand and he seemed to be a cool outgoing guy. You can read as many interviews as you want but that won't replace a direct experience like that. While facing cancer he'd answer a fan's question that he'd like to come back to help the team "but cancer not ezpz haha". It is always a tragedy to see a young man go but no, that is not the whole story here. I can't speak for others, but I think he had a special place in the hearts of many of us before he had passed away. Violet was a TLer, he was one of us. Btw. that is of course aside his amazing starcraft skills. If you're one of those who think of anyone but the top 10 ever starcraft players as 'mediocre' and unworthy of attention I have nothing to say to that as that line of thinking is completely alien to me.

Violet was scary good when he was at top of his game. Funny thing though, my strongest memory of him are his several loses to ling run-bys because of not making enough canons. RIP
