It's my first official Progaming newspost! It feels weird posting news without creating cards, searching for funny quotes, or nagging dronebabo, but here goes!
The big news for today the 14th is obviously the Proleague opening day, but there still is a Survivor group being played.
Group F: April 14th – 18:30 Korean
Game 1 - DArKeLf[S.siR] (T) vs n.Die_cHalRengE (P) @ Longinus 2
Game 2 - Midas (T) vs Thezerg[Alive] (Z) @ Longinus 2
Winners - Blitz X
Losers - Blitz X
Final - Reverse Temple
@ Longinus 2
Darkelf is coming off a pretty big 2-0 win last week vs FireBatHero in the ODT. His last TvP was two months ago, a 2-1 win over Anytime in the previous Survivor. Chalrenge had been known only for his famous fuck up during a 2v2 in Proleague vs KTF, but last month in the 2nd Kespa Cup he all-killed the Samsung team, going through Stork, JJu, and Zergman when OGN was down 0-2.
I have no idea how good Chalrenge's PvT is, and given that lack of info and the fact that Darkelf is on CJ and has momentum, I'd say he has the edge. If Chalrenge loses, make sure to watch the screen carefully to see if he curses Darkelf off.
@ Longinus 2
Some of you may remember Thezerg as half of the MBC HERO 2v2 team that successfully pulled off an insane 14nex on Vampire versus CJ in the Proleague Finals, clinching the win by preventing a Savior Ace match. Other than his name being quite possibly the least original ID ever, I know absolutely nothing about him. However, Midas is Midas, a perennial contender and always impressive, but has never actually advanced to a major final yet.
Barring something freakish happening (like Midas confusing this match with the semis of a major tournament, or spending all his time cooking instead of practicing), Midas should easily FE and roll over any non S-class Zerg on this map. Midas was eliminated from MBC Survivor 9 by a zerg (Aqua) 1-2 back in October, but Midas still won the game on Longinus.
If we see Darkelf vs Midas, remember that TheManiaMST, Terran teammate of Darkelf on CJ, threw everything and the kitchen sink at Midas last week in their Survivor match, but Engine boy still pulled it out. Given that you have to go back years to find a Midas TvT series loss to someone not named IriS, it doesn't look good for Darkelf. If Chalrenge wins, he's just as screwed since Midas has some sicko TvP.
If it's Chalrenge vs Thezerg, I'm thinking Chalrenge will win, given his Kespa Cup wins over JJu and Zergman and the balanced PvZ on Blitz X. If it's Darkelf, he 2-0'd Luxury back in January to get here, so I don't think he'll have trouble with Thezerg.
This looks like it'll be a Darkelf vs Chalrenge again, and the player that can bounce back mentally from their loss on Longinus and make the proper adjustments in the rematch will win. I'm guessing Darkelf, I like Protoss and Chalrenge (supposedly hes a funny guy, check out the Real Story Progamer about the OGN team) so I hope he pulls it out--he'll have a better chance on RLT.
