Is there anything you particularly like/dislike about HotS so far? Is there anything else you would like changed from WoL? Also, great blog, I enjoyed the read.

Is a big part of your inspiration striving to be #1, making money, and generally accomplishing things? Or is the job itself just so awesome that you love it no matter what? Best of luck in your career!

I really think sometimes this wasn't really mean to grow... or wasn't mean to leave Korea lol. Watching foreign events is really a pain. They often look like a gathering of dirty boys and overall misfits. Video games don't end up looking healthy / enjoyable.

White-ra seems also pretty nice to be around and seems very considerate of other people. I also really like Kas (always happy), Rotterdam (extremely generous) and Thorzain (a truly kind person). There's really many more amazingly nice people but these are the one who struck me the most. On January 18 2013 18:28 Rainling wrote: I always thought TLO, White-Ra, Day[9], Grubby, etc. were genuinely nice people. Are some/most of the people well-known for being positive and mannered actually selfish and disrespectful to others when not in public? Is there anything you particularly like/dislike about HotS so far? Is there anything else you would like changed from WoL I'll take your examples one by one so you can understand a bit more about how it is. I'll be just honest, no need to go around things. Day[9]: he's overly nice online but not so overly nice offline. I have to say though that he gave me the feeling that he's loyal to the people he cares about and overall gives a positive vibe. I liked him more when he wasn't so famous but he still gives a nice vibe when you talk to him. Grubby: I didn't watch him interact with his fans as much, but all I can say about this guy is that he seriously takes eSport as his job and he is probably the most professional player outside of Korea. I don't know how he is with others, but he always treated me with respect and gave me some really good advices about life and gaming. Maybe he is not so overly nice in real life like with his fans but he's definitely a guy who gives an enjoyable company and insightful opinions. He is also the smartest man I've met in eSports so far. TLO: the most fake guy in the scene. He never did anything to me but I disrespect him so much because I know a couple stories that would never make me feel anything close to respect for him as a person. He is also extremely arrogant in real life and disliked by most people. Again I have no real grudge against him and he really did nothing to me but these kind of fake people are the ones I detest the most. He's not the only one though, there's some others who are like this. White-Ra: as I said above, very cool guy. Nothing else to say really, his company is very enjoyable and he is very happy to share with other people, which is one of the qualities I appreciate the most in a person. Striving to be #1 is the most primal drive that makes a progamer want to win so much and makes him feel so bad, yet motivated when a tournament is over. Making money was never important to me, as long as I have enough to live decently and hang out with my friends I don't really feel I need more of it. Accomplishing something and fulfilling a goal is one of the best feeling a person can have and it usually brings in more goals and motivations. The job is awesome as it is but without the competitive aspect and the money for many other people you wouldn't see as many top progamers as there are now. Yet most are there because they just love doing what they do.

Can you give us some insight into the german scene and the german players (goody, socke, Hasuobs, xlord, delpi etc)? Why did you decide to switch to protoss (and not to Zerg e.g.)? Because of your bw protoss background? If you look at the balance, it looks like protoss was most of the time underpowered. http://aligulac.com/periods/ If it keeps that way Zerg would be the best option.

In general I have to say the german top players didn't leave me a good impression. It felt like whenever you give them advice they will try to capitalize on it without giving much back and some of them are very sneaky and untrustworthy. One I really respect and stands out from others is Darkforce. That guy is so honest that I can't help but feel appreciation towards him. Xlord is really funny, but even though I met him a lot I can't say I know much of him, he seems a really reserved person when it comes to private matters. I will switch to Protoss for two reasons. First I think Protoss is extremely easy to play in WoL and this won't change in HotS. Second is the distorted way David Kim talks about balance when he releases interviews. He said that it was ok for Zerg to be dominant for some months since Terran was the best in Korea at the beginning, and now that we had a complete Zerg dominance in the past year they will most likely focus on Protoss more.

We are in a phase of transition between old players and the most recent additions, the old guys are fewer and fewer. This is twice true if we speak about guys who also played Brood War. Anecdotes are always extremely fun to hear, especially from someone who has been here since a long time, and most importantly in a scene that was smaller, less politically correct and more genuine. I mean, Rekrul's blogs are awesome... I believe that there are A TON of great stories who have never seen the light, but there aren't that many old school players anymore. Strictly speaking of players, all the people I can think of are Idra, TT1, Major, Ret, Incontrol, Dimaga, WhiteRa, Haypro, Jinro, Nazgul, Nony, Machine... and you. Too bad that most of them are in a position where PR are what brings them the money or never blogged, or simply do not post here. In your case and in TT1's one however I saw more than once that you aren't afraid of bringing back some "behind the scenes", like when speaking about payments, Suncow, stories and such. To keep in short : any funny story that comes back to your mind? Nothing dirty or too personal about anyone, obviously. Edit: obviously good luck for the future, you can surely do it.. I think that Toss is the most micro rewarding race, you should be fine with that. Edit 2: added Nony to the list, surely I have missed someone else...

Fuck TT1, I was on a diet then he came to visit Germany and after 2 weeks he only bought candies, chocolate and kebab and kept them under my nose 24/7 until I couldn't resist anymore and I gained 5 kilos.

They will find some way to screw you over. Blizzard is totally bipolar about game balance. But the good thing is that protoss is really way easier mechanically speaking, and HotS doesn't bring anything to the table that changes that. Best of the lucks. To be honest, what you are speaking about, was the kind of stuff i found out while watching many of the streams of progamers. Do you think that korean progamers are the same too ?
