I just arrived at the Incheon International Airport. After clearing customs and picking up my luggage, my boss Vincent hailed me from the edge of gate F. He offered me food but I said no, lets go to the broadcasting building. I wasn't too hungry and the food was decent on my flight, so I was ready to go. We arrived at Spotv and I saw Supernova Maniac (Alex) commentating s2 vs EffOrt on Tal'Darim from the broadcasting room. At this point I have a huge amount of excitement and adrenaline flowing through me. Here I was, in Seoul, South Korea, about to cast Proleague.
..
Let me rewind a bit and explain how I got to this position. Two weeks ago, Supernova Maniac and I were discussing the casting situation at Prolague. I mentioned to him that he should go and cast Proleague. He's got some experience, he has lived in Korea before, and he has the contacts. I also casually added that if they ever need more casters, I'd love to cast as well.
Turns out that they needed another caster, and I was contacted by IEG around 1am in the morning on a Monday, the night I finished my finals. I also drank a few beers that night. Never the less, I was determined to send them a sample of my casting at the time. I quickly recorded a video on twitch and send them a game of me casting a match between BabyKnight and Rain from the BWC. They liked the video, mentioning that they saw my passion for Starcraft. That really resonated with me, and I knew that these were people that I wanted to work with. After about a week of negotiations, things solidified and I decided to take the trip to Korea.
It is huge step for me to move to a country so far away from the States, let alone one I never visited before. The unsure feeling that I had in me reinforced the decision that I had to go and do this. Leaving school, friends, and family behind, I plunged into the world of commentating Starcraft.
..
After the game between s2 and EffOrt finished, they had me go into the broadcasting room and mic'd me up. Mid broadcast, they put me to work with SNM and we finished commentating the Proleague games. I know the commentating wasn't fantastic, but I am confident after a few days SNM and I will really be able to get into our element and provide some great commentary. I hate making excuses, but keep in mind that we both arrived in Korea that day and that this entire chain of events all happened on a relatively short notice. We will be in full force soon!
..
I want to make this the first of a series of me blogging about my life in Korea, casting Proleague, and Starcraft. There is still much more to talk about, but I am running out of time before work. Please support Proleague and show that the foreigner audience cares!

GL I think you and SNM will turn into a great casting combo for Pro league.

If you survive this initial negativism you're gonna be one of the best.
But. Please step your game up quick. GL

Well done today, I think it will go good for both of you. Props for going to Korea full time, just like Tasteless in the old times.

GL guys, I hope we get some awesome cast in the future ( EG-TL vs KT.Rolster rematch soon any1? :D)
btw. will there be a studio setup like with GSL, ie. watchable casters, or do we just have to rely and trust on the disembodied voices of Proleague? :o.
