Naru just felt completely random, she was a major story point early in the series and then she was just there. Fleur and Elena could also use some more depth. I thought Ao was a pretty well done character. I also disliked how they tried to fit 20 plot twists in the last 2 episodes, it just felt like bad pacing. Finally I just found it incredibly sad that only tragedy will arise from Renton and eureka's love. I mean the original series did have it's dark moment but it did finish on a pretty happy note. The original Eureka seven series still remains one of my favorite anime series of all time though. The original series just managed to hit all the emotional notes where this one didn't really impact me. I don't know if more episodes would've made it necessarily better. I think the problem was that the characters just felt chaotic and not focused enough. It was really bipolar in a way and just inconsistent. We just never really could understand who someone really was, and I think that's on the character design's fault rather than the time restraint. I dunno, the show looked promising, but just felt confusing, disorganized, and inconsistent to me. There was just too much stuff flying around that sometimes wouldn't even be brought up until much later. Also yes, SAO is so god damn cheesy I cringe the entire episode. I mean, that's not even to mention all the plot holes and other horrible storyline related things. + Show Spoiler +Suddenly a guy who kills 8k people for an incredibly obscure reason is supposed to be portrayed as some sort of hero in our eyes now? Listen, if the next season(s) of SAO can justify this guy killing 8k people I will take back every bad thing said about SAO. So far it just seems like "oh well we just wanted something to start the story for a plot, but I hope this won't come back again in the future and we can just ignore it as long as azusa is saved from being raped by some horribly cliche bad guy?"
My thoughts exactly on SAO...

That sounds like... Uchuu no Stellvia, which was actually pretty good

They cut a lot from the light novel from what I heard. Typical for an anime, rushing the story and stuff. I myself didn't enjoy the mini side arcs as much because they occurred too soon. I'm not the only one that thinks this as well, thank God.

I enjoyed the show with few complaints. Just isn't for everyone.

The LN isn't that good either... I dropped it after vol 5 or 6 while enjoy AW a tons more.
Nothing cut out more stuff than Horizon, and it's still a far superior show than SAO in every way.

I hope there will be a season 2 for AW, as the world was really cool. And unlike everyone else I didn't mind fatty pig mc.
Not to mention adorable Sky Raker <3

The Disaster arc is probably best writing by author, and flying pig is a lot better (though still mad emo). I can't wait for Graphite Edge to show up in main story though as he was supposed to be stronger than Black Lotus skillwise.

When you say Horizon, are you talking about this? http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=8323

AW = Accel World, another work by same author as SAO
And yes on Horizon.

SAO is just a ripoff of .hack series(which is much better).
SAO uses the same theme added with a lot of harem and romance.
It is pretty damn cheesy that literally almost every girl that Kirito meet just fall in love with him. Cliche harem much? That's why the Japanese love it.
SAO was not SAO after Vol 2 of the LN. The premise of the story changed after they left SAO. That killed it for me.
I never understood why SAO is popular.
I guess it's because they have cute characters.

Wow @ the AniDB ratings... is that site only used by 12 year old or something? They make ANN and MAL rating seem Pulitzer worthy
