LoLgic
Over the course of my time as a teen, my gaming experience has been split; there was the SCII era, and the now present LoL epoch. Now I'll admit, I have more "fun" playing LoL, but I get more frustrated playing LoL than I did playing SCII, save for the era when I was depressed and decided that SCII was much more important to me than it really was. Save for that era of misplaced emotions, LoL is quite fun for me. The only problem with LoL for me, and the reason I've contemplated just a total switch to DotA2 or back to SCII for HotS is the LoLgic.
LoLgic: Noun, proper; The act of using League of Legends logic to to fall into these three categories
- Special Pleading
- Ignorance
- Throwing
Special Pleading is the logical fallacy where people reject obvious information and evidence that rejects those people's hypothesis. Special Pleadings happens to be very popular in LoL, but not for the reasons one would think. One would think that the normal asshole behavior of saying what will or will never work,
What calling has turned into, especially S3, has become this sort of hierarchy of people shouting over each other down, even going so far as to flame teamates even before the game begins. Now this may sound stupid, and believe me it is the fucking stupidest part of champion select and one of the main reasons I want to ask LoL to forcibly uninstall the game from the most poisonous 10%, yet I can't understand how this transformation has occured. What was a simple flowchart of: enter the game -> say what you are good at -> hope to god no one else picks it -> give up because someone picked your favorite lane and go where you are needed; has become enter the game -> DE-FUCKING-MAND WHAT IS YOUR GOD GIVEN RIGHT in a lane -> tell the person that goes in actual pick order to go and learn something because he is a noob and doesn't respect calls more than actual pick order -> rage -> rage more -> continue raging -> repeat ad nauseum. I truly don't understand it at all, I don't get why people would argue that pick order isn't the intended order and that calling precedes it. I had an argument with a guy who could only tell me to "stfu" whenever he couldn't argue back about how calling is in fact, surprisingly, not the intended way to pick roles. These people just ignore the fact that Riot implemented pick order themselves in order to create that hierarchy, I just don't get the Special Pleading.
Ignorance plagues the LoL community. I don't mean ignorance like not knowing when the, "I Have a Dream" speech was given, or what Keynesian Economics is, I mean sheer, fucking, stupidity. I can't explain how dumb, I stress the dumb here, some people, I stress the some here, are in this game. It is like watching 2 and 1/2 lanes feed while your lane goes normally or in your favor. God forbid you lose lane though, or else your feeding teammates will be at your neck for feeding; the best explanation of this is when I have been 1/2/1 or so and my teammates are 1/3-4/0 and scream at me for "feeding my lane." I literally look at my screen and I just drop my jaw and and this just plays in my head. I just can't believe some people can't read numbers correctly, or do simple subtraction.
What is about the same in stupidity is when a teammate or an opponent references how much better you or your opponent could have done in relation to a pro. For instance, one time I was playing KaRRRRRRRRthus, and after I missed an MIA call, a guy told me how shit I was and how Froggen would have 1381903819038109 creep score at that point. Needless to say that not only is that just a dumb statement considering it was a simple Normal Game, so I could practice without losing those oh so precious ELO points, the person saying these things was constantly missing MIAs and was losing lane simultaneously, This sheer display of ignorance is, at least to me, disgustinly obvious. I've seen countless people like this also, people that scream at the miss of whatever they are complaining about, but are perfectly content to bitch, cry, moan, whine, shit on other people's fun because of a missed [insert action one one's end that could be solved by greater map awareness here]. It's sheer ignorance.
Throwing is THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IN LoL, hands down. I've seen countless games that I was ahead, even getting carried, and my teammates run in 1 at a time into a team of 4-5. These geniuses then proceed to throw the game; that is to say lose it after gaining an advantage somewhat significant. The fucking throws, I've seen this happen to much. I've seen Terrans not scout a hidden Zerg 5th or visa versa and throw a game, but I hadn't seen what it was like to lose due to the stupidity of 1-2 people on the same team after you give your team a significant advantage. Those people tend to tbe the same people that inhabit parts 1 and/or 2 of this blog, but not always. I have seen games where multiple teammates specifically say to not do X thing, and not only do these people do X thing, they do ABCEFGZ other things that get them A) Killed, and more importnatly B)Out of the ensuing team fight. These people just make me so angry, it is nearly impossible to carry a 4v5, not impossible, but ultra-difficult in LoL (when one is playing at one's specific ELO level). There is a reason that saying, "THE THROWS!" is such a popular saying in the LoL community.
The reasoning behind people throwing games is always hilarious also. Instead of being reasonable and accepting blame for being pants-on-head-retarded, these same people rationalize the situation, adding details that never occured along the way. This is true LoLgic, saying things that never happened not only did but also [i]forced[i] the situation; thus making these people martyr status in their own twisted, Stockholm Syndrome induced wonderland of fucked up heroism. This inversion of the regular heroic act of carrying a game just screws most teams over many times. It isn't just me by any means, I've seen this happen to many teams. Then, after the throwing has commenced, all team communication breaks down, people resort to name calling, everything starts to fall apart, then
TL, I don't profess to not fall victim to these things every once in a while, after all I'm really bad at LoL and get kept down further by the idiot I find, which I'm sure is most people's story. Either way, I'm sorry for missing my Friday blog again, college stuff sucks the life out of me (as if school didn't do that enough). Gnite TL hope you enjoyed the blog .
