i'm watching a super metroid race, and someone takes about 25 efforts to mockball and get early super missiles, putting him way behind.
then the other guy dies to mini-kraid, putting him way ahead O_O

Level 3 now 2.5 minutes faster, now skips all the cutscenes and the autoscroller. Level 5 about 10 seconds faster, but avoids over half the enemies in the level and removes several cutscenes. Level 6 about 5 seconds slower, but completely hilarious. I could get this to even or faster with better control over the hovering. Level 12 with an extra clip after a hover to take off another 30 seconds and skip the last couple of puzzles I actually have to do in this game.

It might just be enough to drag him back into WW, after he said he was going to take a break and focus on Banjo-Kazooie for a while. That's not quite how it works. Speedrunners work together on these things so it's not a challenge. As for dragging Cosmo back into WW, he hasn't really left he just knows that his Banjo needs work to get a good run in time for AGDQ, while WW is just a case of keeping an eye on what's going on and picking up anything cool or essential. For comparison, I think his Banjo PR is about 15-20 minutes behind StivityBobo's 100% while he's going to be, at most, 2-3 minutes behind Demon. Considering that Banjo is half the length of WW, that's pretty big. Cosmo is smart enough to know where he needs to focus his attention. On another note, we improved the 4-player No Mercy WR yesterday, 11:38 real time (first 11 minute on game clock). Only 3 more to go~

And that's pretty much the time when Demon beats Cosmo, each time. I'm not saying Demon is not as good as Cosmo, he's just less consistent, and on a 4:50 game, you can see it easily. There's also the fact Demon loves to go for risky strats, those when you save 5 seconds if you do well, and lose 30 if not. Just take a look at his Completed Triforce split, each time he tries to grab all pieces without killing any fish. It fails 4 times out of 5. But when his run is going smoothly, this is a WR. :p

Not posting the video yet, I want to make it a little cleaner and figure out how the hell I'm going to record it. 720p 2k bitrate is apparently too low quality for SDA and anything higher than that slows the game down for some reason *grumble grumble.*

Not to mention the new Mistodon skip is right after the card tournament which is even worse. Edit: This is why FF9 is the game where dreams go to die.
