The Void
There are two things which challenge my theory. And there is of course too the eventuality of the final game which will probably not match my theory. Yet I hope to quickly synthesize my conclussion from the already existing evidence and paint, not so much as a truth but a general notion, which in turn will demonstrate a plausible relation to OUR existing civilization. In my previous article I conjectured that the Xel'Naga were human. I now directly reveal two things which negate the idea while deliberately trying to reconcile them. First of all there is Duran in Brood wars who admits during the secret protoss mission, that Kerrigans ingress into the swarm sped up his process. In the light of recent events, this statement is a brazen claim concerning the aforementioned character per se. What hint can we draw from this? Has the actual work performed on Kerrigan, revealed something interesting for Durans observance? Was the work the overmind orchestrated giving birth to Kerrigan so demonstrably profound serving to inspire curiosity? Or did she, play a certain role in a scheme as of yet unrevealed. Duran, implicitly confirms that her birth into the Swarm was incidental or atleast unexpected. He also implies that he's serving a far greater power, stating HIS position as a subordinate. Yet this power could either be a coherent entity of existing consciousness, a master with deliberate purpose. Or it is rather a raw power or energy, ancient and inherent within nature pertaining to an exclusive group of individuals. A group of individuals that have clearly harnessed this power and sustained it power quite some time.
The unavoidable inconvenience.
I am about to introduce a thought that if considered without the surrounding evidence, would be utterly dull and resigned to be something impossible to make the game without. Forgive me if it's convoluted. In any case, if anyone had read the Brood War mannual they would discover that the Matriarch Razsagal is just over 1000 years old. She is explicit to declare she was old enough to recall their exhile from the planet Aiur. This draws a timespan feasible enough to go further back in time and assume that the Dark Templar - after the revival of 'Khas' and the Path of Ascension - were on the planet Aiur for a limited duration of time. Limited in the sense that when we draw a chronolgy or timeline of events, it is perfectly conceivable that subsequently after the Protoss reformed their civilization entering the Second Age, recovering from the civil war ( The Aeon of Strife ), they would've rectified the rift with the Dark Templar immediately. The Conclave feared the Dark Templar would badly influence their community. Once again, I remind you for some reason the Dark Templar feared that in capitulating to the current order they would lose their identity. A series of events transpired as 'Adun' was sent to exterminate them, he rather concealed and protected them, teaching them to harness their own energy. As a result they unleashed violent storms upon the fields of Aiur exposing their existence to the conclave. The conclave, appalled of their perduring existence simply swore Adun to silence and banished the Dark Templar from Aiur. These events, could not have extended for longer than a period of a few centuries. And there is no evidence to suggest the Dark Templar were harmed during their exhile or they resisted. They seem to have passively submitted to their departure. The Matriarch, who lived to remember Aiur holds a position of authority over their eventual enclave on Shakurus, inadverently suggesting she could well have been a figure of authorative resonance. Of the Aeon of Strife, it is written that 'generations of protoss' were slain. Once again inexplicitly stating that the civil war could not have lasted for more than a few centuries. We draw a timeline of events transpiring, meanwhile the Xel'Naga inaugurate the Zerg Race, which apparently caused the former's death.
In the character profiles, the age of the overmind and his two cerebrates, Daggoth and Zasz, are specifically 'unknown'. That statement entertains the idea of near infinite age and infinite capacity. But as we reflect upon these events and correlate their precedence. The Zerg race is perhaps not as ancient as it first appears. If we were to roughly estimate a guage in relation to the war, the revival and the exhile of the Dark Templar, could we guess the overmind and zerg at being say 2000 - 3000 years old? If not perhaps even younger. The UPL upon earth was formed on November 22, 2229. Eventually the prison ships departed from Earth but travelled for 30 years at warp speed and crashed landed within the 'Koprulu sector'. It is said it took decades for them to establish their civilization, and further more there is a 60 year duration that marks the point until the neighbouring planets communicated with each other. At any rate while I hope to perpetute time by finding discrepencies in the Terran story, it still remains clear that we are dealing with events well within a timespan that could warrant reason unto the harmless but curious question. How is it that all 3 races communicate with english? Indeed for campaign and dialogue to engage this is unavoidable but curious, curious enough to consider the UPL all rallied earth under a universal language, English. And the creation of the zerg and protoss predate english itself. But English of course being a language or mode of thought rather than tongue that could be 'inadvertently' rediscovered again. Remember a language is not always a mode of communication it is a mode of thought, and by the very nature and flexibility of a language so is the intellect of the subject being defined. Who is not to say the Xel'Naga were a select group of human individuals intent on world domination. Stage-managing and engineering key events upon Earth and from afar, while still maintaining a political agenda pre-emptively contrived to subjugate mankind. You seem to think that such tenacity is not within the scope of humanity but I will prove to you that it is. If Psionic potential resides within the human form, giving hint to immanent control of our innate nature, then there is nothing to dismiss that the totality of mankind had merely sublimated their potential power. Or as per usual, in accordance to the overt inequality of nature, immanent power inherently vested pertains only to select individuals.
The next thing that negates my theory, that which I will elucidate next is the Voice within the Void.
