Maybe Blizz should try to host more than 1 korean qualifier, that would raise the main tournaments skill massively. But the point with the metashifts is difficult to avoid, cause there are many other tournaments/leagues the players have to play in, also event preparations and stuff i guess.

Leenock has 2 MLG finals( won one and runner-up in another). Life won GSL and MLG. Sun won WCS Asia and OSL. Creator TSL4 Champion( this is online though) and WCS Korea Champion. if one person takes both IPL and GSL that would give some solid credence I think. heck, MKP might be in the running lol DRG as well, if he takes IPL5 and blizzcup

There should've been a group selection or random draw instead of a set bracket for Ro16.

If one of these players wins both IPL and the end of year GOMTV "Blizzard Cup" then you could probably call them the best player of 2012. It'd take one of those 5 players you listed to win both though (and Leenock/Creator would have to win this GSL). edit: damnit, opterown beat me

Korea brought their best protosses but not the best players from the other races. If Life, Leenock, DRG would've been there instead they would be top 3.

There should've been a group selection or random draw instead of a set bracket for Ro16. Bad luck. I feel for Idra, he was playing pretty well. However, to be the best you need to be ready to face anyone and everyone anytime in the tournament.

This is about the only valid complaint I've really read (every thing else boils down to the nature of a 'world championship' format), and it kinda is also a valid thing to work into the format, when you think about it. You only get one WCS every year, and it crowns the champion for that year, right? So the fact it spans half of that year sorta makes sense. You have to be that fucking good (top8 at least each 'qualifier') to make it through, so you're never going to get legitimately bad players. Instead, it's the consistently 'really fucking goods' who stay alive long enough to win. It's a test of endurance as much as anything. It's kinda sucky that the points of relevance are completely arbitrary, but that's kinda life. Running a global 'league' format (MLG v KeSPA) would be a logistical nightmare, and just isn't every popular/exciting. This is probably the best format (The Invitational isn't a fair or relevant comparison because there are ~4-6 good teams from each region, making things 10x easier to organise/schedule/format) that they can pull together, considering.

I think we have to wait for GSL5 / IPL / Ironsquid. Is there another MLG this year?

Never change TL. would you believe it if I told you there are many different kinds of people on TL?
