But you do realize this is Stephano- someone who's known for not only saying ridiculous things, but doing them too? It's not exactly the most absurd assumption in the world to think he was running his mouth off in a private conversation that he thought wasn't going to be streamed to the public, and then he backtracked and said it was only a joke (although I sincerely hope he was just trying to be funny, rather than him actually raping a little girl). Now you have to put faith in your team that they are actually not defending rapist.

People say silly shit like this jokingly all the time, but sadly for Stephano, he said it to someone that was streaming and got caught. Yes, child molestation and the like isn't a joking matter, but we can't white knight and pretend like we've never joked about taboo subjects. Well, he's going to Korea anyway. Jokes are usually followed up with a "haha just kiddin" or "I'm just playin man lol." Not a "Fuck, I hope you didn't show that to everyone on the stream"

The fighting game community are assholes, they have literally zero shame about it even when they're being called out by other communities (Iirc that happened during some Capcom sponsored tournament) some people like that others don't it's personal preference whether you want to free wheeling no restraint fighting games or the professionalism of SC2.

If I had a sister that was 14 and my best friend made a joke about raping her I'd punch him in the face and never talk to him again. Sounds like you have some serious issues dude. Relax a little. Don't get me wrong, Stephano doesn't have a leg to stand on here, but those of you pulling the "How sick are you?" card have really got to take their head out of the hole they've got it stuck in and realize that you can joke about a lot of sad and unfortunate things and not be a monster.

Who knows what kind of fucked up sense of humor he has between himself and Bling? It wasn't even intended to be seen on stream anyways. Even if it's Stephano, I really doubt he's going to rape a 14 year old. How often does he elude to committing felony crimes punishable upwards of 10? If his humor is really that off-putting then rational people can think for themselves and declare they don't like nor want to support Stephano. Then they stop watching his stream and his games. That's it. I'm assuming they got their sponsors e-mailed when the comments were first made but I could be entirely wrong, which is why I'm not totally enraged just yet.

He was joking, but they hell would you joke about something like that? That's plain fucked up. I guess you don't like black humor. -.- People are so thin-skinned and enjoy getting offended by anything. The joke wasn't an endorsement of paedophilia or anything of the sort. It was a "terrible" inside joke between friends. Whatever. In a few months we'll see another angry post about how day9 and husky are so corporate and how we never see people's "real" feelings on things. This thread should have been about shutting down SRS. edit: On October 13 2012 08:51 Freezd wrote: Jokes are usually followed up with a "haha just kiddin" or "I'm just playin man lol." Not a "Fuck, I hope you didn't show that to everyone on the stream" The response is precisely because of people like you. Same reason why you rarely see honest discussions about race or sex. Anything not perfectly PC will trigger some primal response.

You can't joke about raping children. If it was even a joke, which is not really believable, given the words that were said and the context they were put in. Honestly, this isn't the last we will hear about this.

People just care about Stephano and get's let down when they see something like that occur in someones stream. Like i don't think you see any type of celebrity going out saying that stuff without getting punished somehow for their behavior. People that are celebrities really needs to understand what it means to be well known sometimes. That stuff like this just bites you in the ass. I can understand that players doesn't want stuff to come out in public and I'm not a fanboy of any players out there. For me they are just a player like myself but i can understand them sometimes but if you get caught doing this it's ur own fault.

It just incites the worst of our community. That's utter bullshit. He is one of the highest salaried players in all of esports because tech companies are willing to throw money at an organisation that will provide exposure to their brands. EG.Stephano.RC is a manifestation of their investment. He choose to join EG for the nearly unparalleled opportunities they can provide. But with that comes the responsibility to not pull stupid shit like this. He is in a position to be constantly scrutinized. He can ether retreat from the public eye as much as possible and let his games be his promotion or he can act clean enough to keep the pay train chugging. His choice.

It's rarely the community itself that does this stuff, it's often SRS who aren't really into SC2 but believe they're saving the world or some shit by emailing the sponsors and trying to get anyone who makes comments like the ones Stephano made fired.
