surgery on your cervical disks takes much, much longer to recover from than carpel tunnel surgery on your arm

It's quite curious that they were able to purchase a house with 2 GSL championships, since I would assume that they didn't have many assets to begin with. Are prices in SK that low?

You seem to have more information about the details of this neck injury? I assumed it was either a herniated disc or cervical dislocation, both of which have to be really severe to require actual surgery and are firstly treated with a collar and physioteraphy. And of course completely avoiding the body/neck position you're usually playing starcraft in for as long as possible.
Also, I would assume that the effects of whatever treatment will be quicker on someone MVP's age than your grandfather's.
But I'm not trying to be a smartass here, as said, I don't know any details. I just think that if it's a couple of months reduction of practice and focus on recovery that he needs, now is the time.

I work a computer job and play a lot of Starcraft, and I suffer from a lot of neck/shoulder/wrist pain nowadays as well. It gets to the point where I can't/don't want to play because I know it'll hurt. I can only imagine how hard it must be for a progamer with similar problems.
NOT taking a rest and continuing to beat up your body is definitely not the right answer, and by MVP's previous interviews resting seems like something he is extremely reluctant to do. While I understand that, if he keeps grinding away at it it's going to only get worse, and follow him later in life. Take a break, dude. You can get back in the game later.

I really really hope he takes a break after this season(or maybe even next, since it will be shorter). With winter downtime + HotS he should have plent of time to recover. It would break my heart if he would have to retire someday because he refused to treat his injury. Someone should collect messages from all his fans that want him to get surgery done and hand it to him, since I don't think he will do it otherwise.

Reading those kind of things is so sad... I hope he can recover and be the best he can be

This part of the interview actually caused me to cry, especially the first part. :/ But, by the end I instead felt uplifted. Mvp seems like such an intelligent guy, I am in awe of his amazing attitude; though I question him not getting the surgery, I understand the dilemma he finds himself in.

dammit, MVP's so humble, I would like nothing more than for him to take the break he needs then to come back in win absolutely everything, over Kespa, foreigner and ESF.

I really feel bad for MVP. I wish he could get treatment for his condition. I feel like if he keeps playing without getting treatment he will get to a point where he won't be able to play anyway.
Also, the interviewer looks like Park Bom in that last pic of her.

I think he should get his surgery right after his GSL run ends...which could be on wednesday if he gets knocked out of the RO16. Best to do it before HOTS comes out.
|
We should write him letters like for nada, that way he looks at his health because we dont want to see mvp retire

This shows just how hard MVP works to succeed at SC2. Anyone that can continue on while in terrible pain, and still remain humble on top of that deserves respect. I really hope he takes the time off and betters his health.

some assumption in my own post as well obviously. I'd assume he tried the collar + physiotherapy approach before, because that is something he should be able to do. If he did not, then obviously that should be the next step. IF he tried that and truly had no success (which is what it sounds like) surgery would be the next step.
And yes I agree he needs to seek treatment, as i said simply ignoring it won't achieve anything. But it might be a fairly long break (and yes, now would probably be the best time, he might be able to practice fully again in january - march when HotS competitions might kick off (or not depending on release date)).

We need an intervention for Mvp T___T
I really wish after this GSL season that he'd consider just taking some time off till next year.
It's better to get healthy at the risk of not being able to make it back to the top tier again than to risk your long term health to prolong your lifespan at the top. There's nothing to say he can't make it back after a few months off either.

This set of interviews really showed me MVP in a new light. He is just an awesome guy!
That being said, he really should take a good look at his health and try to get his condition improved before HoTS if he really wants to continue to be a top contender. MVP Fighting!!!

MVP so humble... wah i like it

you're scaring me, MVP. Get treatment, rest, then start practicing again, you'll be fine!!

Wow, what a touching interview. Reading through this I felt nothing but wanting him to get the surgery and rest, wouldn't now be one of the better times to do it (just before hots)? He's so humble, regarding himself as a lower gsl player even though he has won the most GSLs.
