both Japanese voice and english subs, and very entertaining I recommend you start watching from the 2000 show, because some of the jokes are related from each year

Also, let me recommend Tiger and Dragon. My absolute favorite. This is just a taste. The jist is that a typical yakuza gets into the world of rakugo (traditional storytelling with a big funny twist at the end, basically) and typically retells the classics with modern trappings based on his experience in the episode. Decently sized fun cast, a dash of drama to tug at your eyesockets and it's hilarious to boot. Cannot recommend this show enough!

Don't know why people complain about their favorite show not being on that list (though guess not Garnet's fault since it's out of context here). It is NOT a comprehensive list of best shows. It's just a (not lol School Days) list of *some* good/popular anime in hopes of warding off "hi I like anime give me rec" posts. I mean, Code Geass is on there and that's by far the largest flamewar topic of ADT to the point people have actually been banned from TL. There was some arguing and polls when it was first drafted iirc but in the end, we don't really care about it missing x anime cause it still fulfills its purpose well enough. You can always explicitly rec an anime later on. Also, it's pre-Nichijou,F/Z,Madoka, and all those other fairly new shows people question about it missing. somewhat on topic: Not sure how productive watching anime is to maintaining good Japanese linguistics; it really depends what level OP is on from those 2 years. Anime tends to use a lot of slang and informal language that may or may not be useful to practice. But like, when I took first year Japanese, anime made studying it A LOT easier. Practice listening? Nope just watch anime and get full credit on listening section. Vocab? Already know all these words from anime! And since I'm still at a pretty low level, it still helped a lot with recognizing/learning conjugations.

It's hard to complain about it, because I've only took a cursory glance at the list before making that post. Which part of my post looks like a complaint?

Which part of my post looks like a complaint? Ah no, sorry if it sounded like I was talking about you due to quoting your post. Was more responding to your "idk" while referring to many (not you) who have complained.
